Looks like the Rams could get something pretty good in the 2nd round at WR if they don’t have the right guy waiting for them in the 1st.
DakParticipantMust read stuff from Coach O.
This O-line is looking solid lately. Imagine if this team could start all 5 together for most of a year. Imagine that.
On Keenum vs. Mannion, I think that’s a good combo to come in and compete next year. The Rams could sit still, with Foles as a No. 3 possibility. But, what if the Rams got out there and threw a bunch of money at Drew Brees?
How good could this team be with a solid O-line and a really good veteran QB, plus Gurley? Then, you’ve got the D still in a very good place next year. Draft a WR to help on the edge … just about any WR is going to be an upgrade over Quick right now.
This team is a few acquisitions, and a little bit of O-line health, away from being scary.
DakParticipantCook came to mind because they actually went out and paid a lot of money for him. Quick is a bad 2nd round pick, true. But, I never expected much from him.
I can’t think of a single defensive player who disappoints.
DakParticipantThe Rams just own the ‘Hawks’ O-line. And, they’re so familiar with Wilson and that offense that they know exactly how to prepare for it every time.
DakParticipantLooks like a keeper. Good work, Snisher, on this pick … and in the 2nd round!
DakParticipantSo, this Tomsula guy, he doesn’t seem that popular.
DakParticipantI loved it.
I can’t get enough of the Rams dominating the Seahawks. The Rams are in their heads now. They have no psychological advantage against the Rams heading into next year. To me, this win is about the Rams vs. the Seahawks. And, it’s oh so nice to see it go down like this. Domination in the trenches. Out-physicaling the physical ‘Hawks. We’re in their domes. No doubt. And, yes, the Seahawks wanted to win just as badly. This is THEIR turf. This is the home of the 12th Man. Nobody else wins here. They can’t let St. Louis, which has been successful upsetting Seattle in STL, come in there and win.
Yet, they did. And, that meant something to the Seahawks.
It also means that the Rams CAN score against a good team in difficult situations. This was not a great offensive effort, but it was an effective one. That started with the O-line, which gives me hope for next year.
Now, what we don’t know is if the Rams can win when there’s something truly on the line. They haven’t done that, yet. That needs to come next year. Has to. Must. No excuses. ABSOLUTELY no excuses next year. The Rams should have depth at key positions, including the O-line. They should have a good game manager QB, at the least. And, they should have a great D again.

Benny Cunningham is the Rams Swiss Army knife and one of my favorite players on the team. The type of player every team needs. Nice North/South kick returner as well.Sherm tried to press Britt, but Britts strength forced a slight stumble by Sherm and that was all he needed to blow by him. The look on Sherms face was priceless. Its really to bad Britt cannot do that more often…or can he??
Two years ago when Barnes faced Mebane he was castigated for it. Sunday demonstrated how far he has come as a pro, he was fantastic. I like him, he’s the perfect size for a center who needs to get out and move and get to the second level. As you point out he was downfield for the fumble recoveries because he hustles, he’s always second/third level looking for somebody else to block. He’s not a pro bowler but he’s a lunch pale guy that is an important cog in the success of a team.
Against a team that was blowing people out on offense, I had no problems with Williams play-calls. Especially with as many players down as he had to deal with. I thought he mixed and matched well, all things considered.
Those are all good thoughts. I also thought about the role of Bennie Cunningham … but, wasn’t he one of the fumblers who Barnes rescued? I really like him, too, but he’s a bit of a fumbler.
I’ll also say that it’s time for Gurley to stop hurdling. He’s going to get hurt or cough up the ball and lose it in a big spot doing that stuff.

DakParticipantWow. Hope the Seahawks play in Green Bay … they’ll have plenty of cheese to soak up that whine. 😉
DakParticipantBottom line: This has nothing to do with whether St. Louis fans would support the NFL. Of course, the lack of support has to do with a really crappy product.
I agree that the NFL needs to make a decision as soon as possible. Don’t move back the deadline. Decide now.
DakParticipantI think Bradford, if he can stay healthy, will benefit from stability in Philly.
Foles, who knows? He’s been 3 different QBs so far. And, he looked so bad this year, it’s probably going to take some time and another QB getting injured before he gets another chance.
DakParticipant“Analytics aren’t useful” said Belichick. He went on to add “What is useful, is knowing your opponents practice schedule and having access to their practice facility. That’s how you win football games. Shit, did I just say that out loud?”
Ha!
DakParticipantI dont follow other teams,
but is there a more dangerous punt-returner
than Tavon? What return man
made the pro-bowl ?w
vHe might make it as a returner if every one of his TDs weren’t called back due to an illegal block.
DakParticipantI’m not impressed with this QB bunch. Take one in the mid-rounds, like Mannion last year, or trade for a vet if possible.
DakParticipantIt’s like I’m watching his college highlight reels come to life in the NFL. I think that he’s the best defensive player on any defense that I’ve watched week to week. I’m trying to remember anyone really that close. Think about it: Even great DEs like Carter during his heyday, Little in his best games and Quinn in recent years haven’t been able to dominate game-in, game-out like this guy. DTs just don’t get to the QB this often.
I don’t know about the Donald vs. Watt stuff. Watt is a stud and deserves all the accolades. But, Donald is probably the best DT in football, or at least there’s nobody better.
Too bad Quinn got hurt. This line will be hell on wheels with both of them in there.
DakParticipantWhat about a trade for a veteran QB? Someone who would replace Foles. I’m done with him. Let’s move on. Trade a pick, maybe a mid-rounder, for a decent QB, and put him in the mix with Keenum and Mannion to see who is best at running this team’s offense. Make another trade to move up in the draft for the best WR. And, who cares if you’ve traded the rest of your draft and a future pick, at least you did something to upgrade the two positions that keep dragging you down. This team is plenty deep on defense, and should have the answers at O-line when injured players return next year. They can give up a few picks (that may or may not work out) to address some glaring holes. I’m afraid that if the Rams don’t do something bold now, they’ll squander the window they have with a good defensive unit. By improving the offense, and keeping the defense off the field, they could help make the defense a great unit.
DakParticipantSomewhere, there’s a stock boy in Iowa, biding his time …
DakParticipantHe’s a nice weapon to have … one of those guys that drive opposing teams nuts. If the Rams could add an outside, deep threat to this offense, they could put together a really scary combo with TA and Gurley. It would be my top priority this offseason, along with finding a starting-caliber QB and re-signing one of our CB FAs.
DakParticipantI haven’t followed the St. Louis Board of Aldermen vote closely, but the local (non-sports) media here covered it like the NFL backed off the $100 million extra that’s part of a new deal.
I really get the impression that a lot of conscientious NFL owners feel for St. Louis and would rather Kroenke work with STL on a stadium project. But, I still get the feeling that SK will do whatever he wants in the end, and Goodell/Grubman will provide him enough cover to get it done. And, in that case, this stadium deal is null and void … unless another suitor comes forward. That would mean that all three teams in question would likely move. Two of them to L.A., and either Oakland or San Diego to STL. And, really, it would probably have to be Oakland.
DakParticipantI’m on board with this pick. Make it happen.
DakParticipantKeenum does remind me a little bit of Green, though he’s a better athlete and has a little bit weaker arm.
December 18, 2015 at 8:49 am in reply to: Rams: Great team or Greatest Team Ever? Bucs Post Game thoughts #35790DakParticipantI saw most of the second half, then went back and watched the first part of the first quarter. I’ll try to watch the rest of the game when I get a chance.
Seems to me that it’s Tre Mason time. Gurley needs to be preserved for a season that might matter. And, let’s see what Tre can do with a little more work.
Case Keenum had a great game. Looks like Tampa didn’t respect his ability to strike downfield, which I totally get.
Classic Rams. Get out of the playoff race and start winning some games.
DakParticipantDonald is special. Only a few teams have been able to slow him down. Relentless. Strong. Quick. Tenacious. Fierce. Pick an adjective you’d like for a DT, other than tall, and you can pin it to Donald. It’s so much fun watching him blow up an offensive play. He has to be my favorite Ram right now.
December 15, 2015 at 5:58 pm in reply to: Stalter: Trumaine Johnson’s Play Gives Rams Much Needed Offseason Flexibility #35683DakParticipantNot only are most of the hits at DB in recent years, the DBs that they hit on recently are better than the DBs they hit on in those previous years. I wouldn’t want to trade any of our starting DBs for those DBs of yesteryear.
Another great thing about the CBs they’re getting is that they can tackle, too. Not just cover corners.
December 15, 2015 at 3:42 pm in reply to: 3 Rams are PFF's "best at their position" this week & more PFF stuff #35680DakParticipantNice to see an O-lineman with a positive rating. Garrett Reynolds may be a solid contributor on this line for the foreseeable future.
December 15, 2015 at 8:31 am in reply to: that is what football people call "a win" (Lions game thread) #35658DakParticipantSpecial teams, punt coverage was also a factor in this game….
Fisher ball needs field position to succeed and the punt coverage team pinned Detroit few times.Good point. Hekker had a great game.
Too bad there was another phantom call on a Tavon Austin punt return. That was a really nice return. I still don’t know what exactly was spotted on that play.
December 14, 2015 at 8:43 am in reply to: that is what football people call "a win" (Lions game thread) #35619DakParticipantIt looked a lot like how they won earlier in the season, and how they are going to have to win, period. Great defense, minimize mistakes, cause some big turnovers and keep pounding the ball until the opposing D gives up a hole here and there for Gurley to truck through. When Gurley has one guy to beat on the second level, that’s when the Rams are scary.
Chris Long was more of a factor, I thought, even though he didn’t finish off any big plays. He was getting a good push on the edge. But, yeah, Donald. He was a beast. If you don’t have an answer for slowing down Donald, it’s gonna be long day for any QB. That makes me smile. Damn, too bad Quinn got hurt this year.
Keenum can win this type of game, which is good. But, yeah, without great defense — hell, the D scored 7 points thanks to TruJo — this team will struggle to win due to its lack of passing game and patchwork O-line.
Btw, anyone notice much difference at all in how the game was called with Boras? I didn’t.
DakParticipantI have tears from the laughter.
