The Rams’ DL has a knack for introducing QBs to “gravity.” Even if William Hayes is skeptical that gravity exists.

Well have you ever SEEN “gravity” ?

    1. Quick – didn’t look like he is ever gonna be a factor.
    2. Zeurlein – Not exactly clutch.
    3. Cook – inconsistent which is what Tennessee thought about him.
    4. Saffold – injuries aside, he’s not living up to the contract the Rams gave him.

    Good list.

Yet each Rams win over the Seahawks is close. Usually the Seahawks have better offensive stats in those Rams wins too. Rams offense needs to step up. How many of these D linemen can the Rams re-sign next season? The Rams D line is the reason the Rams beat the Seahawks but how long can that last? It’s like we’ve experienced a vacuum in playing the Seahawks in which the D line is our only guaranteed weapon. Eventually even Pete Carroll will figure out a way to beat the Rams. I wonder how many sacks and hits on Wilson the Rams would have gotten with Quinn out there? 10 sacks, 24 hits? Can never sack Wilson enough.

    So, Wichman’s the real deal?

One report on Wichman from someone in a position to hear things is that Wichman is the player who made Jones expendable. Even though Wichman was hurt in OTAs and missed some time in camp, they liked him to the point where they were afraid to put him on the practice squad because they didn’t think he would clear waivers, or at least they didn’t want to face that situation. So they kept him on the roster and cut Jones instead. A lot of close OL observers have said for a couple of games now that they like Wichman and that he can be counted now, already, as a sure draft hit.

It wasn’t that long ago I was depressed over the crappy play of the O line and now they play like this?

Seems like the new OC calling plays has helped the entire offense including the O line. So odd it has made such a difference. I wish Fisher would have made the move sooner.

I suppose if you’re Michael Bennett and you’ve been rendered a nonfactor by the Rams much-maligned o-line, going after a punter might be the only way to regain your dignity.

P Johnny Hekker punted six times for 240 yards for a 40.0 –yard average, 36.7-yard net average. Hekker placed two punts inside the 20-yard line.

Also notable—Hekker may be one of the few punters in NFL history, if not the only punter in NFL history, who was flagged for unnecessary roughness.

Well, lots of knowns and unknowns.

Do they think Foles can be Rebuilt?
Can they afford to cut him?
Can afford to keep him if he takes up a roster spot another QB
    could have?
Is Mannion an Option? When will they know?
Can Keenum ever be a no.1 QB ?
Are any of the QBs in the draft-class worth
    moving up for?
which vet free agents could help?

My tab for ramshuddle was flashing new message. Is this a new thing? Did I never notice it before? Maybe it only happens when somebody uses the word unicorn?

If this is going to be a Uni-Corn thread

Well, we have the unknown in Mannion — that’s one.
We have the journeyman in Keenum — that’s two.
We should never ever ever use Foles again — that’s two.

So for the third we have to either (a) draft one high and hedge our Mannion bet, or (b) sign one to a ton of money and compromise the overall strength of the team. You can probably part ways with Chris Long and his contract, or James Laurinaitis and his, to make room for a free agent guy. Like Stafford if he were to actually become available.

Please not Stafford. I hope Keenum or Mannion can be the QB.

The Rams make money. Despite being a multibillionaire StanK doesn’t feel he has enough money. The revenue agreement for the Ed is the most generous in the league yet still not enough for StanK. St. Louis isn’t a wealthy city and there is need much beyond 8 sundays of football a year. In the end I hope StanK gets what he deserves.

Faulk excelled at everything. Gurley has a chance to be as good as Faulk assuming Gurley has the supporting cast Faulk had here. That is a tall order for this Rams front office.

I think Gurley can be good regardless of the supporting cast.

Besides I was talking about raw talents. Regardless who was around him Faulk had certain basic, innate skills. They showed up in losses and bad games as well as wins.

All RBs need a good O line to create holes to run through. Gurley doesn’t look that good with this supporting cast. Sometimes he breaks an occasional big run which reminds me of Jackson. Faulk had the ultimate supporting cast. Give that to Gurley and he will get his yards and more importantly the team will get wins. Get Gurley in open space and he will be as elusive as Faulk. Neither Faulk nor Gurley run over people like Marshawn Lynch, but even Lynch had a decent O line.

Again…we’re just talking about completely different things.

    .

No we’re not. You claim Gurley can be good regardless of the supporting cast, because of his innate skills.

I disagree. Like Faulk he needs a supporting cast. Look at how many times this season Gurley has been held under 100 yards. That is because of his O line. He couldn’t break a long run. He wouldn’t have been drafted as high as he was if he didn’t have the innate skills. Those innate skills are not enough. He needs a good supporting cast. That isn’t a knock against Gurley. It’s a fact. Better blocking and more diversified offense and better QB play and Gurley can lead this Rams offense to the playoffs.
