bnwBlockedThe articles say a few paragraphs in hundreds of pages of the lease is what doomed St. Louis chances to keep the Rams. I would like to see the language. I know how thats been interpreted over the years meaning bells and whistles within the dome. Yet I know the dome has been said to have the most lucrative profits going to the team for all game day expenditures in the NFL. Since money is so important to the NFL why wasn’t that considered to be within the top 25% of stadiums metric?

January 24, 2016 at 1:29 pm in reply to: Can St. Louis Rams PSL Holders Buy L.A. Season Tickets & other StL PSL isssues #37991bnwBlockedSo true. I remember when the ED was to be an indoor stadium and thinking how can anything top this? Watching football outside in St.Louis in December can by very nasty and the 70 degrees inside the dome sold tickets to be sure. Look at the Packers that sell out every year in that stadium in that weather! Can’t convince them they are missing out by not having a top 25% venue BS. Fiscal sanity always depends upon who is paying the freight and in their case it is the season ticket holders.
Exactly. When the Ed (TWA) first opened, is was this glorious stadium.
15 years later, it was a total piece of shit, and always had been. That’s the icing on the cake to me. People write about the dome like it ALWAYS sucked. It is so ridiculous. I mean, you would think the place had splintery wooden benches and outhouses.
It is ridiculous. Granted on a beautiful day the outside game is great. But is the viewing really better than in the dome? I say no. Not even close. The nosebleed seats in the dome are much better than the nosebleed seats in those other large stadiums.
Te biggest knock against the ED is where it is located since tailgating was never good there. I think that was unfortunately overlooked and soured a lot of people visiting wanting to include a good tailgating experience.

bnwBlockedIf I had my choice, I’d watch most or all of the NFC game, and the 2nd half of the AFC game.
As it is, I will watch the first half of the AFC game, and none of the rest of it.
It is hockey season in my house, and I am taking my son to San Jose tonight for a Kings/Sharks game. Gotta be leaving in about 5 hours.
Love hockey. The cold air flowing off the ice, the echoing crack of sticks, the thunder of checks, and the smell of shark meat.
I used to be a big hockey fan but when they made helmets mandatory and began throwing out the next player to get involved in a fight or come off the bench I think a lot of the character of the game was lost. I realize these days that sounds insane but unless you watched the game back in the mid 70s and earlier you won’t know why it makes a difference. I do like the shoot outs to end the tie games though.

bnwBlockedUnlike some, I happen to like Arians, and I also like the idea that the NFC west could be sending teams to the superbowl in 4 consecutive years. I have no feelings about Carolina one way or the other.
Do you watch Arians with the sound turned off? His shit talk before and after games is what I don’t like. He’s certainly ran his mouth about the Rams but he outdid himself in the week leading to the Seahawks blasting his team in his stadium in week 17. What do you like about him besides he wins of course!

New stadiums are produced by vanity and greed, not necessity. That’s for damn sure.

When StanK’s stadium no longer is in the top 25% will he move his team? 😉

just needs to be cleaned up a little but i have no interest in corporate luxury suites or what not or 100 yard flat screen tvs. and most games i’ll be watching at home anyways.
I can understand that. Location is everything and tradition counts for something. Can do without the luxury suites but the huge flat screen TV would really be nice!

bnwBlockedI live in Oak Ridge, TN. Used to see Rams fans around but not for some years now. Titans hurting too. More Packers and Colts it seems and now more Panthers too.
I can’t usually watch more than one game unless it is a division team we need to have lose at the end of the season. I’ll only watch tonight because I like the Panthers and don’t like Arians. Other than that its the premiere of the X-Files after the game!

cuz we know this move ain’t for the fans including the los angeles fans.
besides i think it’d be awesome if the rams had to play at the coliseum for the next ten years! ha!
Such irony would be delicious. Make it 18 years and that is what happened with Bidwill’s move to AZ although sun devil Stadium has to be worse than the LA Coliseum, right?

bnwBlockedInteresting that Cusomano calls his show the “Hollywood Casino”. Hollywood Park has a Casino which is being relocated and will remain open just down the street from the new stadium.
Why does a guy in St Louis call his show the Hollywood Casino? Never made sense to me.

Because it originates from or is sponsored by the Hollywood Casino.

bnwBlockedbnw you are going to love watching Rams games at 3:00 in the afternoon on Sundays. Just think, you’ll have the whole day pretty much to do whatever and you can still catch your favorite team.
Grits
Better yet 4 pm for me. I agree it is the best change for me. I hate 1 pm starts. Cracking open some beers after 4 pm is more to my liking and the day is mostly mine which is cool. Can go hiking in the mountains with my son then catch the game on the way home. Looks like I get a minimum of 11 late starts each season so I can probably drop Gamepass too. The sports bar in the next town always has an idle large projection screen room with sound at that time so it might be better in that I used to take my son to the place for years to watch the games but 10 years ago they changed the law where he couldn’t be admitted. Now he says we should go so he can beat me in shuffleboard. No one beats me in shuffleboard.

bnwBlockedI’ll be the first to admit that what happened to STL football fans here isn’t different than what happened to L.A. fans. There are some differences about how this went down, though. L.A.’s leadership had no stadium plan, and L.A. had no appetite to put together a plan. STL did. Georgia wasn’t super-rich, and she was going to need help to build a new stadium. SK is super-rich, and he needed no help, obviously. Both were after more money, but we’re talking really good money versus crazy-rich make the franchise cherry-on-my-Fortune-500 portfolio type uber-money. And, I don’t know how much Georgia lied to the fans of L.A., but SK was living a lie, and even said he intended to stay here, and wouldn’t lead the charge out of here. The people at Rams Park who just lost their jobs said that SK told them he wouldn’t abandon STL.
All true but its even worse. Kroenke’s refusal to work with Clinton torpedoed the Stallions expansion bid. Then Kroenke was allowed to buy in at 40% of the Rams to keep the team in St. Louis. Then Kroenke screws over Khan’s attempt to buy the team only because Kroenke wanted to move it to LA since 2002. He has an iron clad out of his contract and knows he is moving the team based off that alone but needlessly trashes the metro bi-state area to prevent any chance at landing another NFL team.

bnwBlockedI read this soon after you posted it and have thought about it a lot. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that a virus is the cause of most if not all cancer. Doubt the non empowered among us will ever see a cure since treatments are more profitable. Seems as though the cure business has dropped off a cliff the last 30 years.
This is so over the top wrong, I don’t know where to start. Treatments are unbelievably costly and do not present the profits for those companies that statins and dick pills do. It’s not even close. It’s an argument that’s used by charlatans pushing so-called “natural” cures.
This topic is unfortunately more personal and immediate with you so I won’t press the issue other than to say my comment was directed towards treatments in some cancers that are now being found to be unnecessary in many cases since the disease is not the straight line progression we have been led to believe. Cancers can become benign and even vanish without treatment, http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/27/health/27canc.html?_r=0
I apologize if my comment upset you.

bnwBlockedGet over the butt hurt bnw, the Rams are in LA where they always should have been.
As for the new Stadium and City of Champions project there have been plenty of articles over the past year of what is involved and how the project will be funded and how profits will be made from it.
Search the archives of the LA Times by Sam Farmer and Nathan Fenno.
This is not just about a stadium. Its about a great entertainment district that is going to put LA Live (AEG’s baby) to shame.
