I expect the Rams to draft Cook at 15. I base nothing on what Fisher says or doesn’t say. 😉

Keenum seems just a good as Foles. I think Mannion is better and I think at least 6 QBs in this draft are better than Foles. A trade would be a blessing. imo

Snead on Foles ( + the full interview)

His contract is not exactly that. I don’t want to get into the exact numbers, but it’s about half of that. There’s a lot of things that get written about contracts. The answer from a salary standpoint is, yes, he’s easily keepable.

It wasn’t a good question and that makes the answer a bit unclear. I will assume the Rams are on the hook for everything except is 1.7M salary this year.

Foles and re-acquire the quarterback — especially for $8.75 million, which Foles is set to make next season.

    Getting facts right.

Near as we can tell from public info currently available, anyone trading for Foles (or signing him if he’s cut) gets him for 1.75 M in 2016. Rams eat the rest.

    .

That seems to be the case. Although Snead indicated it might not be on radio. But, he didn’t explain his remarks. He just said people don’t know what all is in the contracts that are written. Either way, it would be ironic if Foles ended up back in Philly. 😉

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns will waive Johnny Manziel when the league year opens March 9 for repeated trangressions that have hurt and embarassed the team, league sources told cleveland.com.

Browns Executive Vice President Sashi Brown made it clear in a statement Tuesday that the Browns are done with Johnny Manziel, who’s under investigation by Texas police and the NFL for possibly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

But league sources have told cleveland.com that he’s done. It’s over.

“We’ve been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny’s continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization,” Brown said in the statement. “His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time.”

The Browns can’t waive or trade Manziel until the league year begins March 9 because they’ve already exercised the option of moving their salary cap space from this year into next year. Therefore, they don’t have the option of waiving him when the waiver period opens Feb. 8, a day after the Super Bowl.

Police in Fort Worth and Dallas are investigating Manziel for possibly assaulting his ex-girlfriend early Saturday morning. The NFL is also investigating, since this is the second incident since Oct. 13, when he was involved in a roadway argument with Colleen Crowley.

Manziel faces possible suspension by the NFL, but probably won’t be the Browns’ problem much longer.

Manziel was not arrested by Avon, Ohio police for the Oct. 13 incident, and the NFL cleared him of any wrongdoing despite Crowley initially telling police that Manziel beat her and shoved her head into the glass of the car.

Crowley, who was drunk at the time, later changed her story and said Manziel didn’t harm her. Now, Manziel is being accused a second time of possibly assaulting a female.

Johnny Manziel has been anything but dependable since the Cleveland Browns selected him in the 2014 draft. Here is a look at the incidents that have gotten him to this point.

Early Saturday morning, police in Fort Worth, Texas were called to an apartment building near Texas Christian University, where Crowley — who might now be his ex-girlfriend — is a student. Crowley’s name was not mentioned in the police report, just a 23-year-old female, so it’s unclear if she’s the woman involved.

When police arrived, they couldn’t locate the caller but came across the 23-year-old woman who reported that she had been involved in a disturbance with Manziel in Dallas and possibly other locations. Although she was uncooperative, she managed to express to police that she was worried about Manziel — whom she described as her ex-boyfriend — which prompted Fort Worth police to search for him.

When he didn’t answer calls to his cell phones, police searched the area in patrol cars and eventually an Air One helicopter to look for him. Ultimately, he was found to be safe and in no danger. But police in Fort Worth and Dallas are still “actively working” to determine if Manziel assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

On Monday, police in both jurisdictions said there was nothing new to report.

The NFL, which launches its own probes into domestic violence allegations, brought in investigator Lisa Friel to interview Manziel on Oct. 28 at the Browns facility in Berea regarding the Oct. 13 roadway argument with Crowley. Manziel was represented by NFLPA Heather McPhee.

The NFL also interviewed Crowley and the Avon Police, and ultimately declined to issue any punishment.

“Based on the information gathered, we have concluded that there is an insufficient basis on which to take disciplinary action,” the NFL said in a statement. “In all cases of this nature, our concern under the Personal Conduct Policy goes well beyond the issue of discipline, and we have made comprehensive professional resources available on a confidential basis.”

Following that announcement — on the same day he was named the starter for the final six games of the season — Manziel issued a statement saying the league’s decision should put to rest any thoughts that he had hurt Crowley.

“I appreciate the NFL’s diligence and discretion in reviewing a situation that was both personal and embarrassing,” Manziel said. “Colleen and I cooperated fully with the NFL’s process and completely support their goals of making sure that every family under their umbrella is safer and more secure.

“I’m grateful that the review was so thorough and fair that there should be no question left in the public mind about what actually happened.”

Manziel and Crowley remained together for a period of time after that, based on their tweets and Instagram posts.

Again, it’s unclear if Crowley is the woman involved in this incident.

Manziel’s publicist, Denise Michaels, declined comment. His agent, Erik Burkhardt, did not respond to a text and his lawyer and family friend, Brad Beckworth, has not returned a phone call.

A source close to Manziel said friends have been worried about him for a period of months. One said he became a “train wreck” as the season wore on.

Manziel, who spent 73 days in inpatient addiction treatment center last off-season, has been photographed frequently drinking alcohol over the past several months.

How you wanta do this Ag?

Keep running this thread, or start a new “qb draft” thread and link this one in it?

This one will get big, not that it matters. Up to you.

We could start a new one periodically. After the Senior Bowl, Feb QBs, etc. Some of the old stuff gets out of date.

There appears to be twice as many draftable QBs this year than last year. That makes a lot of choices possible. I think it is most likely that the Rams will draft Cook at 15.

    Dak Prescott, QB
School: Mississippi State | Conference: SEC
College Experience: Senior | Hometown: Haughton, LA
    Height/Weight: 6-2 / 226 lbs.
    Projected Ranking
    Overall Position Proj. Rnd.
    113 6 3-4

    Player Overview
After serving as running complement to pocket passer Tyler Russell for two seasons, Rayne Dakota Prescott emerged as one of the SEC’s most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks in 2014.

The frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy in 2014 before his play leveled off in SEC play, Prescott is a true dual-threat quarterback with the mobility and size to power through would-be tacklers, along with the arm talent to push the ball downfield through the air. He needs to improve his consistency and ball placement, but in the right system could have a future at the NFL level.

    Prescott owns 38 school records (15 career) and was a two-time All-American, two-time first-team All-SEC in 2014 and ’15 after winning MVP of the 2013 Liberty Bowl.

Tim Tebow is the only SEC player who had 60 TD passes, 40 TD runs, 8,500 yards passing and 2,000 rushing yards. Head coach Dan Mullen — who coached Tebow — called Prescott the best player he ever coached, praised his leadership and community leaders lauded his involvement and volunteerism while at Mississippi State.

Although the Tebow comparisons are often overused, Prescott has similar size, skill set, composure and leadership as the former first-round pick.
    Strengths Weaknesses
STRENGTHS: Scouts are most impressed with his development above the neck, showing above average awareness as a passer, recognizing things quickly and working through his progressions to easily load and fire.

Displays an ability to use his eyes and hold defenders and has a quick memory to move on from mistakes and not let the negative plays linger. Overall, he has a much more natural feel in the passing game than in 2013 and appears in complete control of that offense.

When he does step into his throws, Prescott can deliver strikes. He’s a very dangerous runner, combining aggression, agility and the power to break arm tackles.

WEAKNESSES: Work in progress as a passer but has a live arm and good field vision. His footwork is inconsistent and he loses accuracy when his feet are not set.

Tends to predetermine some throws and relies on a lot of back shoulder patterns, something that got him in trouble against Auburn and Alabama. Has not shown the consistency to lead his team through the air in tough road environments when the ground game is shut down.

COMPARES TO: Tim Tebow, ex-Broncos, Jets, Patriots – It is the natural comparison, beyond just the connection to Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen, who was Florida’s offensive coordinator when Tebow was in Gainesville. Although Prescott has a slightly better arm and more consistent mechanics, he and Tebow grade similar in several categories, including composure, mobility, power and leadership.

IN OUR VIEW: Evaluators knew he was a bruising runner, using his size, quickness and toughness to run over defenders, but Prescott has shown a much improved feel in the passing game, displaying anticipation, decisiveness and above average awareness to recognize things quickly and react accordingly. He deserves credit for the positive steps he has taken, but a lot of evaluators aren’t sold quite yet as Prescott tends to predetermine his throws and has the bad habit of locking onto his targets, missing open reads downfield.

This is a good year to add a QB. This is a good year to add WRs and you can find help at TE. imo

From what I read, though, you can’t count on a rookie starter from this year’s crop. Which btw is fine. Let them have 4 qbs. (Keenum, Foles [hoping to recover his game], Mannion, Rookie To Be Named Later). Though that’s not serious…it will be 3. Reports we’re getting say that Mannion and Foles will compete for a roster spot.

I agree. The QBs being the closest to starting are Cook and Hackenberg. imo I think Mannion should be ready to start. I think he is just that much better than Foles or Keenum or any first year rookie. Although it might be even money that a QB we draft will eventually beat out Mannion.

I don’t think coaching is factored into whether a players is a bust. Sometimes it should be. imo

But, I will keep this to the Rams as a whole, without trying to separate Fisher and Snead and putting trades in a different catagory.

I approximate a bell curve, just based on my thumbnail evaluations.

I put the Rams in the top 20%. I say that is a solid B. I compare it to what I think another team would have done if they had the Rams picks. I believe just as the graph indicates there is a hell of a lot of average out there and it has a large variance, cause picking player has a lot of hard to judge variables and not much separates a C- and a C+. So, chance will always be a huge factor. It is hard to get a B and it should be. imo

The best way to beat the draft game is to have more picks and attract more CFAs and don’t screw up the top picks. imo

I like conspiracies. They are cool. 😉

I don’t believe that the way Fisher built the Rams was because of them wanting to move to LA.

That is one of the things I give Fisher credit for. Building for the future. I agree with the way he shaped the roster, given what was out there in free agency and the draft, except he gambled on the QB position too much. imo

I also think your second QB has to be something more than an adequate backup. Ideally, he should be able to start.

Most of this speculation revolves around Wentz. It is the Cowboys at 4 vs the Browns at 2 and possibly moving to 1 to draft Wentz. I think Dallas has eyes for Johnny Tebow and would rather use their pick on a position player.

SF seems ready to give Kaepernick another chance. So them drafting a QB isn’t a done deal, but they could do both. Just as Philly could do both, sign Bradford and draft a QB.

The Rams and Houston could stay put and draft Cook and Hackenberg in the 1st or 2cd round.

And RG3-the-legend-continues is still without any love.

    Chargers, Rams agree to deal
Bolts still have decision to make about whether to move
    Mugshot of Kevin Acee
    By Kevin Acee | 1:15 p.m. Jan. 29, 2016

The Chargers have reached an agreement in principle with the Los Angeles Rams regarding the two teams sharing a stadium in Inglewood.

The agreement allows the Chargers to move to Los Angeles.

The question that remains is when that will happen — or if it will.

The next step is for Chargers chairman Dean Spanos to announce his decision about whether he will give his adopted hometown another try. Two sources indicated Friday that announcement is imminent, but they did not provide specifics.

NFL owners voted earlier this month to allow the Rams to move from Los Angeles and gave the Chargers the option to join them. The sides began meeting the following week and focused on a deal brokered by the NFL in which the Chargers would be a revenue-sharing tenant in the Inglewood stadium, which is set to open in 2019.

The Chargers have until January 15, 2017, to exercise their option to move. If they get a stadium initiative approved this year, that deadline could be extended to 2018 to allow for legal challenges or a second election, if necessary.
