Especially after that first offensive possession (and I mean, offensive…).
September 13, 2015 at 4:43 pm #30326znModeratorMan, I don’t want em ALL to be as up and down as that one.
But….a win with a new qb and young line against the NFC champs and the best defense in the league?
I ain’t gonna complain TOO much.
September 13, 2015 at 4:48 pm #30329HerzogParticipantThe baby offensive line did decent
September 13, 2015 at 4:51 pm #30330nittany ramModeratorThat was awesome. I take back everything I said about this team’s supposed lack of preparation. The defense hit the field in midseason form and the young o-line accounted well. How bout’ that Benny Cunningham, eh?
Foles showed toughness and poise and nice accuracy on his long balls (except for that bomb to Tavon – Tavon was open early but Foles mistimed his throw).
I couldn’t be happier with the way things played out. Hope Sims and TruJo are ok.
Cignetti? A+ for both scheme and play-calling.

September 13, 2015 at 5:11 pm #30332Eternal RamnationParticipantThat was a well prepared well coached team totally unexpected but warmly welcomed. Foles has guts! He gets knocked down but he gets up and goes right after them. That was a great game to build on. Add Gurley Mason and Quick and it’s going to be fun to watch again. The D has what 6 sacks already? TruJo was looking awesome, hope he gets back soon. And Roberson who I find painful to watch tackle straight out stoned Beast Mode! The guy can play.
September 13, 2015 at 5:19 pm #30335HerzogParticipantNo Quick, no Gurley, No Mason, No Gaines, No Tru……………No PROBLEM…..
NEXT!!!!!
September 13, 2015 at 5:20 pm #30336rflParticipantWell, I wouldn’t-a-thunk-it!
Got back from the driving range and am amazed by the result. Fantastic.
Sounds like it was a weird game. Hard to tell from the box score what really happened.
But, I see we got 3 sacks? That’s encouraging. Seems as if the D played fairly well, with 14 points yielded by the O and STs. (Just watched the NFL Channel highlights)
I’ll be interested to see reports on the OL.
But for me the biggest issue is how our DL is empowered to play. With 3 sacks and Lynch held to 78 (?) that’s a pretty good sign.
A good start. Over .500 for the first time in forever. Next week 2-0?
We need it. And you know what? Ram fans DESERVE IT!

Rams d got 6 sacks.
September 13, 2015 at 5:30 pm #30344nittany ramModeratorWhen was the last time you saw the Rams lose the turnover battle but win the game?
It used to happen regularly during GSOT. Can’t say when it’s happened since then.
September 13, 2015 at 5:32 pm #30346rflParticipantSeptember 13, 2015 at 5:35 pm #30347ZooeyModeratorThat was quality. There were some poor moments, but that was the best the Rams have looked to start the season in living memory.
I did not expect the offense to be able to drive 80 yards, let alone do it THREE times. Against Seattle. In the first game with a line that hasn’t played together. Without Gurley, Quick, or Mason. I am…I dunno. Let’s say my Great Bag of Total Skepticism has a leak in it.
WTF Triplette? If that was a fair catch and the Rams should be penalized for it because the ball bounced, but the ball didn’t bounce, isn’t Seattle guilt of unnecessary roughness for hitting a guy who called fair catch? You can’t have it both ways. And that isn’t just a missed call. That’s one they stood around talking about, and they can’t have it as a penalty against the Rams, but not one against Seattle if the guy called Fair Catch.
6 sacks.
That TD to Kendricks came at the expense of Kam Chancellor’s replacement. Think he will point that out to the Seahawks money guy this week?
That was a good game, and I am all in for the season on the basis of that. Looks to me like we have a competitive team right out the chute this year. Yippee.
September 13, 2015 at 5:35 pm #30348InvaderRamModeratorcouple things.
seahawks last year ranked 2nd in ypa allowed at 6.3. today the rams averaged 11.0 ypa. last year the rams had ypa’s of 8.2 and 6.6 against the seahawks. overall they had a ypa of 7.2. that was good for 15th in the league. hopefully, the rams can build on this.
imagine how good this offense could look with gurley and mason carrying the ball.
aaron donald is going to be the talisman of this team. he was unbelievable. shoot. that whole dline was unbelievable. no slow start for quinn. brockers with a huge stop at the end.

What a soothing, delicious, delightful thing to read about the freaking RAMS!
If Williams figures out how to use those guys, it’s gonna be a good year!

September 13, 2015 at 5:41 pm #30354rflParticipantPS, watching the NFL Channel replay of that last play, one saw BOTH Ram DTs destroying the rushing attempt.
I mean, that’s defensive football heaven, when BOTH of your DTs step up like that.
However, I see on the stats sources that we gave up 125 yards or so rushing. I imagine some of that was RW scrambling? Hmmmmm.

September 13, 2015 at 5:41 pm #30355InvaderRamModeratoryeah three td drives against the best defense in the nfl. or at least top 3. without gurley and mason. and that backfield could be or at least should be the defining piece of this offense.
impressive.
but what they need to address is taking care of the freaking ball!

i thought donald was the best player on the field. period. it wasn’t even close.

A case could be made for Donald being the best player in the league other than QBs. He’s immense.
And he’s the kind of player that inspires the guys around him. Best Ram defender since probably Jack Youngblood. And that’s playing on the same team as R. Quinn!

yeah. but you gotta remember this was the number one rushing offense last year at 172.6 yards a game at a 5.3 average. rams held them to a 3.9 average.

Brochers was an immovable object all day. Donald was like a penetrating dementor. They gave up a 20 yard run to Lynch once and a 10 yarder where he carried half the defense on his back but for the most part he was bottled up.

i’d still give that to watt. but man. he was possessed out there. unblockable.
today i felt this dline as a whole was playing like people have expected them to. now they gotta maintain that level. something about donald tells me he is going to inspire this unit to do that. he just has that relentlessness that the great ones have. he’s got that tenaciousness that i used to see in london fletcher every time he lined up. i haven’t seen that in a long time. well. since london fletcher was playing for the rams.

Yeah. 32 carries for 124 yards, 3.9.
And you know what else? In the 4 Fisher Rams home games against Seattle, Wilson has now been sacked 18 times.
Which might be part of the reason they run so much.
September 13, 2015 at 6:07 pm #30368canadaramParticipantI became a big Bradley Marquez fan today. Great block on Tavon’s PR and great coverage on KOs. Not to mention the great hands on the onside kick. Quite the debut for the UDFA.

And he’s been sacked 31 times overall against the Rams according to the play by play announcer. You’d think he’d hate playing the Rams.

Exactly. Triplette got caught not paying attention while a rookie was and rightly called a fair catch on a ball that didn’t hit the turf. Which means that the infraction was interference with a fair catcher. I think that’s a personal foul, which would have put it at the Seahawk 44 yard line.
Just another video moment like what I mentioned in my Open Letter… we need Full Time Refs…
