Rams CB Darious Williams has mild ankle sprain, LA has no other injuries vs Seahawks

Crisis might have been averted as Rams receive good news about their young corner

In a tough physical 26-17 win against the divisional rival Seattle Seahawks, it seemed the Los Angeles Rams were getting banged up left and right. After being in a collision with Taylor Rapp in the fourth quarter, star cornerback Darious Williams was immediately ruled out. Head coach Sean McVay spoke with the media Friday to provide some good news for any fans worrying that they’d be without one of their premier corners going forward. He stated that Williams has an ankle sprain which was considered “mild” and there is no timetable for return.

With the LA Rams having a mini bye week this weekend before they head to Metlife Stadium to face the New York Giants, it helps in that Williams might be able to return for that matchup. In the worst-case scenario, he misses the Giants game and he’s back for the Detroit Lions game in Week 7 at home.

Cornerback David Long had been struggling this season and so did Robert Rochell on Thursday. However, McVay did have some good things to say about Rochell despite allowing the touchdown to DK Metcalf with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.

According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, McVay talked for roughly five minutes about how many positive, buildable things they saw from him Thursday. Including the way he used his length of frame, short-area quickness, and how even-keel he was through his mistakes. It sounds like if Williams did miss a game, Rochell would likely start in his place.

As for the rest of the team, it seemed they all came out clean with just your typical bumps and bruises nothing to worry about. Darrell Henderson should be good to go in Week 6 against the Giants, but we’ve seen how quickly it can turn back to Sony Michel.
