    Just perusing the Standings after game 6.

    The group the Rams are competing with is not the 49ers or Eagles, etc.

    Its these guyz.

    If the Rams are healthy, I dont see any of these teams as clearly-better than the Rams:

    Cowboys, Seahawks, Bucs –  All 3 and 2

    Falcons, Saints, Commanders –  All 3 and 3.

    Packers and Vikes — 2 and 4.

    I kinda feel like talking about the Wild Card race after 6 games is like Christmas merchandise on the shelves before Labor Day.

    Welp, saw quite a bit of the Dallas/SD game tonight, and I must say…those are two pretty mediocre football teams, if this was representative.

    Rams play the Saints and Commanders this year.   Every week is a playoff-ish game to a wildcard-ish team.

    I have to disagree with you there, Jack. Since this is a deliberate re-tooling year, the season is not over. The purpose of 23 is to develop a team with experience they can add players to in 24. When that’s your goal and purpose the season is not over.

    Going back to before the season started I don’t think anyone here expected the playoffs. They all knew it was a re-tooling year and what that meant. But technically yes a wild card is still possible.

    So after week 10 (i think?) this is the sich-u-a-shun:

    Division leaders in order : Eagles, Lions, 49ers, Saints.

    3 Wildcard teams as of today:

    Dallas 6-3

    Seattle 6-3

    Minnesota 6-4

    In the hunt:

    Bucs 4-5

    Commanders, Falcons  4-6

    Packers, Rams 3-6

    ==

    Rams would have to climb over 5 teams.

    Next up: Seattle, Arizona, Cleveland, Baltimore.

    Some good things happened this week.  Vikes, Falcons, Bucs, Saints, lost.   That Ram loss to the Packers may turn out to be big, though.

    Division leaders, Eagles, Lions, 49ers, Saints (5-5)

    Wildcard teams:

    Dallas 7-3, Seattle 6-4,

    Vikings 6-5

    ==

    Still In the hunt: Packers, Rams, Falcons, Bucs, all 4-6

    Commanders 4-7

    A win over the Browns would certainly make things interesting.

    Teams we need to hate:   Minnesota, Seattle, New Orleans, Green Bay.

    WV,

    You and I became Rams fans around the same time, in the 1966/67/68 range, if memory serves. Who did you see as our big nemesis back in the day?

    Again, 1966 was my first year paying serious attention — George Allen’s first as coach — with the next season beginning my diehard years. I remember seeing Green Bay and the Colts as our biggest foes, plus the Vikings, and then the Cowboys. At first, I didn’t really care about the rivalry with the 9ers, because they didn’t really pose a threat. Vikings, Packers, Colts, and Cowboys did.

    Right now, it’s the 9ers. Maybe Seattle. I’ll never like the Cowboys or the Vikings, though. Couldn’t stand the Rogers-led Packers, but with him gone, I kinda don’t care about them anymore.

    There’s a really good chance that the Rams are “Jared Goff fans” in Week 18.

    Vikings play in Detroit.

    Assuming a 9-8 finish and a loss to SF, a Lions win would put the Rams in the postseason.

    Saints and Falcons both have pretty favorable schedules. GB’s is on the easier side, too. Rams’ isn’t too bad. Seattle’s is really tough. My guess is the wild-card race comes down to LA, GB and MIN. Rams-Saints in Week 16 has sneaky playoff intrigue.
    .
    Also, I know there are other tiebreakers that might be affected by the rest of the games I didn’t pick. Just trying to show how close this race for the 6th/7th seed could be down the stretch.

    I think many Rams fans are underestimating how tough the Browns are.  Great defense, really physical offensive and defensive lines, and the Rams usually don’t play well against physical teams (see the last 8 or 9 games against SF).  I don’t care who their starting QB is – beating them will be a tall task.

    That’s my view.

    Browns lead the league in time of possession. Browns defense is 1st in passing yards allowed and 1st in passing attempts against (meaning, fewest attempts against). They’re 12th in rushing yards allowed but 14th in yards per rushing attempt allowed.

    It’s the Browns. The Cleveland Browns.

    It’s not that they aren’t capable of beating the Rams. It’s just that they aren’t capable of it.

    The Rams currently have a 36% chance to make the playoffs, per ESPN Analytics. Their chances climb to 45% with a win on Sunday against Cleveland and fall to 20% with a loss.

    Wildcard race on 12/4/23

    Division elites: Eagles 10-2, 49ers 9-3, Lions 9-3

    Division leader in NFC South: Falcons 6-6

    Wildcard lock — Cowboys 9-3

    2 remaining Wildcard challengers (not in official order)

    Packers, Rams, Vikings, Seahawks – 6-6

    Bucs and Saints at 5-7

    ==

    Packers beating the Chiefs is startling.  Packers playing like a playoff team.

    Rams have a chance to do that against Baltimore.

    ==

    AFC wildcard is purty wild now:  Steelers, Browns, Texans, Colts all at 7-5

    Broncos, Bills 6-6

    ==

    If somehow Dallas and Philly each lose the next three games, and the 9ers go 3-0, that game against us, will not mean a thing. Because the 9ers would have home field throughout the NFC. It makes me think, they will sit their main guys, after the first Quarter.

    Yes, but if the 9ers also somehow lose the next three games, the Rams could play them for the divisional title.

    honestly not even paying attention to the playoff picture. just want to see if the rams can win the next three games. that’d be a great way to go into the niners game.
