I say, it’s time for the Rams defense to dampen any ideas anyone has about Kirk Cousins being the Rams qb next year.
Goff should help with that too.

September 14, 2017 at 12:43 am #74305InvaderRamModeratorwell quinn looked a little like the old quinn. the secondary has been lights out since maybe the minicamps. they’re coming off a dominant performance the previous week, and they’re getting arguably the best defensive player in the game back. i don’t think the defense will be a problem.
on offense, mcvay will be motivated. i’m sure he’s got some tricks up his sleeve. some wrinkles to keep his old team off balance. i think there’s two questions that need answering. first, who is the real gurley? if he can be the gurley i hope he can be that’s one question answered. the second question is how much progress has goff really made? i think he’s going to have less time to throw. the windows will be just a little bit tighter. can he still make good decisions under those circumstances?
if just one of those two can provide the answer we desire the rams have a chance. if both can step up, oh my. it’ll be something to behold. if neither can, well. everything will come crashing back to earth.
i’m nervous.

September 14, 2017 at 1:27 am #74307HerzogParticipantWentz made it look like the Washington defense wasn’t getting to the qb…..they were, he just extended plays with his legs. It’ll be tougher on Goff for sure.
Rams defense is still better. Mcvay outcoaches Gruden….Rams score in the 20’s.I’ll say 20-10.

September 14, 2017 at 2:09 am #74308Eternal RamnationParticipantI think the Rams roll again. The last few years they would win and then show up unprepared and lose the following week. I don’t see that this season . They’re really team like now. I’m gonna say 28-10. It will be tougher than last week but the Rams just have too many weapons and a coach that knows how to use them.
September 14, 2017 at 2:33 am #74309AgamemnonParticipantSeptember 14, 2017 at 6:35 am #74311canadaramParticipantRyan Kerrigan will give Havenstein fits and as a result Goff will have trouble setting up in the pocket. The Rams runnng game continues to fizzle. Washington’s offense gets rolling.

Rams 10September 14, 2017 at 6:40 am #74312nittany ramModeratorThe final score will be 30 – 27.
I don’t know who wins.
September 14, 2017 at 9:11 am #74316PA RamParticipantWell, they won’t be scoring 46 points this time.
It will be a closer, hard fought game and I can see the offense struggling to put up points. If the Rams can put pressure on Cousins–like the Eagles did–the Redskins will also have trouble scoring.
As others have said–the real question is how does Goff handle the pressure this week–because he’s going to see some. And how does McVay adjust to that. Having a run game this week would be outstanding. But if they continue to struggle with that, Goff could be in for a long day.
I’ll say, 16-13 Rams.
Special teams might decide this one. Write that down because I want to remind everyone that I said that if it turns out to be true. If special teams have nothing to do with it just forget I said that.

September 14, 2017 at 9:52 am #74317JackPMillerParticipantWashington, believe it or not is way better than Indy. They have legit CBs, unlike the Colts, so I’m going, Washington 14-Rams 10

First let me be clear the Skins are no juggernaut. They don’t nor should they strike fear in anyone
But they have some pieces.
The can be a physical team and after seeing that with a pocket Goff can hurt you, they will come after him. IMO they will not load the box to stop Gurley. So Gurley needs to take advantage of his opportunities.
The right side of the Rams oline is a concern and the Skins will attack that. Bank it! Can Hav and Brown hold up? Yes they will struggle at times but can they recover and do they get better as the game goes on. Watch this because this will tell us a lot
Goff – We will see how well he can read defenses. I think that McV will try and protect him as much as possible and not throw too much on him. I do believe that Phillips has been throwing everything but the kitchen sink at this dude in practice so he will be prepared. How he executes might be different story.
The Skins are not a confident bunch right now. That locker room is going to turn on Gruden if they lose this game. The Rams defense needs to really jump on them because they are not very confident bunch right now. I worry about the Skins run game against our smallish front… it will be a good thing for the Rams to get a lead and make the Skins one dimensional.
according to many in the media the players feel like the coach that was responsible for the offensive success is gone
Think Rams positioning Martz to be head coach when Vermeil departed. Now Gruden has credentials and pedigree of his own but they loved McV….Gruden not so much. At least that’s the scuttlebutt. They have been talking about it all week on the airwaves. It will be interesting to see if the Rams can push them over the edg
Its a huge game for the Skins
I would love to see Watkins, Kupp, Everret, Woods, Austin, Gurley – show out – If they can get an early lead and get in the Skins fragile head they could be on to something. Need a couple a good plays from TA and maybe a return for a TD and I’m good.
Fingers are crossed and hoping the Rams are ready to get down in the mud and that Goff can face a little adversity and then bounce back… because he will get punched come Sunday. It will be interesting to see how the Rams cover the strength of that offense the TEs. I’m not sure that is a strength of our defense at all.

I think Goff will be up and down a lot this season. Probly throw a couple of bad INTs in this game. That’ll be the difference.
I’ll be curious to see if the Rams D can stop the run, btw.

not saying this offense is going to reach the heights that offense did.
but i like the way they assembled this current offense.
they signed a bright offensive mind to build a new offense.
they signed a couple veteran offensive lineman.
they traded for a very promising young receiver with some injury concerns.
they signed a solid veteran wide receiver.
they drafted an athletic tight end and a wide receiver who is advanced beyond his years.
i just like how they assembled this offense on four different levels. by scheme, by free agency, by trade, and by the draft.
much like how that gsot offense was assembled. they signed an olineman (timmerman) and a qb (green) that year. they drafted holt. they traded for faulk. they hired martz. and added that to a team that already had some promising young players on offense. they used every avenue possible. they had a coaching change, they added personnel by free agency, draft, and trade.
the results might not be the same, but i like how aggressive they were this offseason.
