    ——-

Rams gonna put it to us. 23-3 Rams

    ——–
    9ers just went 3 & out…
    ——–
It is officially hockey season for me…but I will still watch.
    ——-
STL defeated Cardinals and Seahawks, something we couldn’t do this season. Why in the world would anyone think we could pull off the upset? The extra time off won’t make a difference.

    I predict another 20-3 score.
    ——–
Nick Foles gonna look like Brady
    ——–
STL is tied for 2nd in the league with GB in defensive sacks. The stats are skewed because GB got to play the 49ers and racked up 6 sacks against Kap.
    ———
I hope they drop a 50 burger on us
    ———
Rams get 10+ sacks? R.I.P Kap
    ——–
Kinda hoping we get embarrassed as well. Its whats needed for change to occur.
    ——–
If you play fantasy football, I would pick up STL defense with the quickness.
    ———
No sense in hoping its coming don’t worry. I think 6-8 sacks on Kaep is realistic for this game…
    ———
Stop the presses: Rams no longer last in the NFL in total offense. They moved up to 31st (ahead of San Francisco) over the weekend.
We’re in for a good one
    ——–
    Rams 3
    Niners 2
    ——–
Rams offense will skyrocket to 27th after facing this defense.
    ——-
49ers offense going to 33rd after facing STL defense.
    ——–
Crash and burn, or 8 and 8, it won’t matter what pick we get if Baalke is calling the shots… If we get the 5th pick, he probably moves up to the 3rd pick to select a player with a second round grade, we pick 16th and he probably trades out of the 1st round to select players that probably won’t make the team. There needs to be a complete overhaul, or it’s just more of the same with a different puppet head coach.
    ——-
Going to be another 6pts offense from us

Special team and defense need to pick up the slack.
    ——-
Our pride better be hurting. Defense will show up. Offense again can’t.

    SF 6
    STL 14
    ——–
Forgot to mention Simpson gets suspended pre game for having a bong on the field.
    ——-
Kap will throw another insanely errant pass. This time hitting Jed square in his bald spot.
    ——-
I would like to see that. The pass would have to go up into the owner’s box, through the glass, hook around and hit Jed in the back of the head. I think Kap can do that.[
    ——-
21-0 don’t think we can move the ball on them
    ——-
This game is going to make the Rams look like a SB team
    ——-
The 49ers opened as 7 1/2 point underdogs, last week Cleveland was only a 6 point underdog at St Louis. How bad is that to be considered worse than the Browns.
    ——-
So, McCown is better than Kap? Hmm… makes sense.
    ——-
I believe Aaron Donald will break the single game sack record. He’s gonna throw Devey around like a rag doll

    ———
This is the game we need to make a turning point type game here. A win on the road, 3-5, would be huge, and against a division rival.

Maicco said something big is on the verge of happening, I sense Gabbert starting in MO.
    ——-
I see this as another loss. No way Gaebbert starts. No point in it. He will just do worse.
    ——-
If it’s anything “big”, I’d expect it to be Vernon being traded at this point.
    ——-
Gabbert won’t start without 2 weeks preparation. I think he’d be practicing with the first team and beat writers would notice.
    ——-
Loss… CK will have another bad game . Oline will get abused as ****.
    ———
The Rams probably have the best Dline in football. We will get massacred up front in the trenches on offense, and hence won’t move the ball.

Since our D is softer than Charmin, the Rams win.

Rams are 2-0 in division, we are 0-2.

Tomsula is not an NFL head coach, he’s been mentioning changes for weeks and the only significant change was Tiller as a part time RG. He lacks the balls to make a decision regarding his QB, his coaches, and his players.
    ———
Rams win, they are a few plays here and there from leading the division and their defense is amazing and gurley looks like a stud in the making. 9ers just have too many issues to fix and at this stage not sure how we’d fix them as we need o-line help, secondary help, 2 new QBs and a replacement for boldin and a big endzone threat.
    ——–
Aside from Gurley, I’m not sure I fear their offense, but that defense will cause issues on both aspects of our offense. I don’t see a rout, but we’ll struggle to score.
    ——-
With our 31st ranked pass defense, and high 20’s ranked overall defense, I don’t think we are in position to “not fear” anyone, since even the most incompetent can move the ball on us.
    ——–
Matchups mean more than ranks to me. Foles/their WRs are not at the level of what we’ve faced most of the year. They’re closer to Minnesota than Pitt/Arizona/GB/NY and those offenses. If, and big if, they can stop Gurley, they can keep it closer.
    ——–
St Louis offense isn’t any better then ours. They have plenty of holes as well.

The key is moving the ball. I predict yet another low scoring game

So Harbaugh and company realized that Kap had likely peaked and wanted to move on…
….but York and Baalke wouldn’t accept it and fired them. Well this is gonna blow some people’s mind around here who bashed JH for everything related to the offense!

Guess what guys? York and Baalke are also responsible for the offensive woes! How about them apples?
    ———
    Well…..
None of this really matters, because we suck again. We have a QB who will be bad, very bad at worse, to above average or Good. Which, honestly in today’s NFL isn’t what you’re stuck with, or you keep trying to Draft guys and end up like the Browns.

We’re going to be the Browns
    ——–
    Kap is not the future
Why keep mediocre when you are rebuilding? Especially at the most important position?
    ——–
Harbaugh shackled his QBs a bit
He emphasized the running game, field position, good defense, and not turning the ball over.

That was the past. Now Kaep is coached (or has done this on his own) to throw the ball away instead of taking chances. That’s why you’re seeing those ridiculous 20-yards out-of-bounds sideline throws now. But that leads to historically bad offensive performances. You can’t win by throwing the ball away 5 to 10 times a game.
    ——–
    In 2012
we had a QB that the league had never seen and a read-option based offense that the NFL hadn’t figured out how to stop yet. That stuff all caught up with him.
    ———
kinda like Chip Kelly’s offense isnt the hot new thing now either
    ———
I wonder if we really cut Kap and get no compensation whatsoever…com’on Chip…give us a call
    ———-
    Philosophically, this fits Harbaugh’s MO
They kinda reached the same point with Alex Smith.

Now, I’m sure they were always looking to upgrade at the QB position, but I’ve always believed Alex lost his job after imploding against the Giants in the 2012 regular season game; it was an ugly performance. I think Harbaugh was just waiting for an opportunity to insert Kaep, and the concussion against the Rams was all he needed. Kaep balled out against the Bears’ #1 defense and the rest is history.

Similarly, Harbaugh tried to put more on Kaep’s plate last year because he knew the team had to in order to be competitive when the salary cap cuts and FA losses mounted. Kaep could not shoulder those responsibilities; it wasn’t all his fault of course, but he didn’t do his part either. I think at that point Harbaugh was probably ready to find a new QB, while continuing to squeeze what he could of Kaep.

Also, super importantly, this explains why Baalke never drafted a real backup QB to challenge Kaep: because Baalke (or maybe more importantly Jed) were true Kaep believers. That was always a piece of the puzzle we couldn’t fill in, but this nicely solves that problem.

SF is a bad team, but like most bad teams
they can rise up and play well now and then.
Interestingly their defense gave up 43 pts to Pitt,
and then 47 points to Ariz — and then they came
out and limited the Packers to 17 points.

Remember when SF was one play from winning the Super Bowl?
Wasn’t that long ago. And Kaepernik was the QB. He was a Star.
Now he’s a bum. Funny what happens when the RB leaves and the OLine
    falls apart.

Will Jim Tomsula eventually have to bench Colin Kaepernick?

Colin Kaepernick on an island in the locker room? (AP Photo/Gene J. Puskar)

Rumors are swirling around the embattled 49ers, which is almost expected after five corrosive losses. Whispers of momentous changes on this team have been in the air and on Sunday, Fox’s Jay Glazer reported that quarterback Colin Kaepernick is on an “island in the locker room.”

Coach Jim Tomsula said changes were coming on Friday, after the 49ers’ dreadful offensive performance in a 20-3 drubbing to rival Seattle. But he wouldn’t be specific. However, he did say there would be no change at quarterback. In fact, last week, Tomsula was obstinate about who makes the decision at quarterback – he does.

But sticking with Kaepernick might not be what the organization wants. They have a $16 million bill coming due on him in the off-season, and if Kaepernick’s frustrating inconsistency persists, the higher-ups might want to see what kind of bridge quarterback Blaine Gabbert can be.

Certainly, wide receivers Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith exhibited consternation this season after a few of Kaepernick’s wayward passes. Nevertheless, to Kaepernick’s credit, he has not show any anger at his offensive line for their leaky protection.

Of course, Kaepernick’s lack of pocket presence and inability to spot open receivers has contributed to his 25 sacks, something that is probably not lost on management.

All of this puts pressure on Tomsula if indeed, those above him want him to make a change that he doesn’t want to make. Tomsula continues to be admired and well-liked by players. It seems that most believe that Tomsula is in the same predicament they’re in, namely working for a diminished team resulting from free-agent losses, sudden retirements and a lack of adequate replacements.

But now, Tomsula’s loyalty and belief in his unshakable will to make things right might be working against him. Tomsula’s rise to success was built on persistence and overcoming insurmountable odds. How else could a guy that once slept in his car win the head job after just eight seasons as a defensive line coach?

The reality is the 49ers cannot be fixed this year. Now they have lost strong safety Antoine Bethea, and running back Carlos Hyde has a stress fracture in his foot. Those losses are added to an already talent-challenged team.

Tomsula announced he will fix his team and he is probably working himself into the ground to find solutions. But sleeping in his office, and hoping the answer will come in his 19th straight hour of toil is just magical thinking.

The one decision Tomsula seems unwilling to make – the one at quarterback – is something that seems antithetical to Tomsula’s sense of loyalty and his belief he can work his way to winning.

But it’s a decision that eventually, he may have to make.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Kaepernick scrambles away from Green Bay Packers Neal in their NFL NFC Divisional playoff football game in San Francisco Reuters

The Packers left San Francisco as 45-31 losers to the 49ers and members of the Colin Kaepernick admiration society.

Watching Kaepernick light up the defense for 263 passing yards and 181 rushing yards, the most ever by an NFL quarterback, left the architect of the Packers team sounding more impressed by Kaepernick than he was upset at his team’s efforts. Packers General Manager Ted Thompson knew the hype on Kaepernick, but said that the real thing went beyond the advance billing.

“That was unbelievable,” Thompson said, via Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports. “He did everything. I mean, I had read the press clippings and seen some of the highlights. But to watch what he did … oh my, that was special.”….

49ers appear united, and could we a change after the bye week?
By Kevin Lynch on October 28, 2015 at 2:59 PM

Colin Kaepernick breezed through the locker room and past a small group of reporters.

“Hey,” Kaepernick called out, “Who do you guys have lunch with?”

Kaepernick was poking harmless fun at the news conference he just concluded when he was asked who he lunches with.

The question was prompted by a national report saying that Kaepernick was on an island in the 49ers’ locker room.

“Kap isn’t on a damn island,” wide receiver Torrey Smith told a gaggle of reporters unprompted.

If the 49ers are fracturing in the wake of a 2-5 start, they didn’t show it on Wednesday, in fact they put up a convincing show of unity, with Smith leading the charge.

“If anyone is going to be mad, it’s going to be the receivers,” Smith said about the team’s start and Kaepernick’s struggles. “And we’re fine.”

For the record, Kaepernick lunches with fellow quarterbacks and offensive linemen Alex Boone and Joe Staley.

When asked to address the report on being on an island, Kaepernick said, “No, I have a great relationship with my teammates. To me, that’s a situation where I don’t know what the agenda is saying that or what the credibility of that source is.”
The report from Jay Glazer brought up memories from last year of unnamed sources that undercut then coach Jim Harbaugh.

Under cutting Kaepernick now could be a motivation since the 49ers might want to get a look at backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert before determining whether to pay Kaepernick $16 million in bonuses and salary next year. Also, if Kaepernick sustains a horrible injury, the 49ers would owe him $61 million.

But the decision on whether Kaepernick sits or plays is up to one man – the loyal Jim Tomsula. The new coach doesn’t have final say over the roster, the draft, or player acquisition. He does have final say on who will start on game days, and right now his starter at quarterback is Kaepernick.

As we have seen, Tomsula doesn’t like to make changes. He once said that he doesn’t want his players to feel like they are “disposable.”

Tomsula has also said twice that changes could be made, but then little happens. The only switch has been the introduction of Andrew Tiller at right guard on a rotating basis. And from what Tomsula said Wednesday, it doesn’t appear if a shake up is expected this week.

However, all this could change in a few weeks. The 49ers play in St. Louis on Sunday, and they host Atlanta before arriving at their bye week. At that time, center Daniel Kilgore is expected to return, which could provide a perfect opportunity to start a new quarterback.

But in the mean time, there appears to be support for the embattled Kaepernick. But just how long with that support last?

    Guesses…

In 2012 when he came on the scene the “read option” was new. Defenses have adapted since that time?

He hasn’t really developed since 2012. Take his first read away and he flounders?

Erosion of talent around him, especially on the o-line and defense?

New coaching staff not utilizing his strengths/trying to make him something he’s not? Too inaccurate to be a pocket passer?

IMO? When he first starting playing, SF had a superior OL, one of the 2-3 best. Now that OL is not the same. It;s a shadow of what it was. So he is far more exposed than he was.
