Fix the O-line and you fix this team. Period. It all starts with that. The run game stunk because of it, McCown stunk because of it. If it doesn’t improve, this team won’t improve. The defense will give you good games. Maybe not great, but good. But our offense is not gonna move if McCown can’t move.Digital_Damage

What’s worse is the majority of this board will still act as though nothing happened with their heads in the clouds….all I heard was how terrible the Panthers offense was…….334 yards.Duece

Do you guys know how good Vincent Jackson is? If it’s him and a defender downfield, just throw it, it’s almost a guaranteed catch. Anyone remember the like 50 yard one handed catch he made with a defender draped all over him from Freeman that got called back on a penalty? The fact that we can’t score with this guy on our offense is ridiculous.

McCown looked scared to go down the field today. Whether he didn’t trust the OL to hold long enough for the play to develop or he doesn’t trust his arm, it’s not a good thing.PetePierson

The insult to injury was that the panthers were gift wrapped for us. We SHOULD have beat this Camless team. If we have to rely on a 4th quarter no-huddle to put points on the board, are we any better off that when we had Freeman? New team, new office, new uniform, same old results. This might be the year I turn the TV off on Sundays.maryjanewatson

I have fun watching the Bucs. But expecting the worst isn’t miserable…it is realistic. For as much as we kvetch around here, there have been very few years where there weren’t many positives to focus on. It’s not always easy, and it’s not always as instantly gratifying as the Randy Quaid routine, but it is much more rewarding. For example, I watched the same game everyone else did and I can come way with this:
McCown got better as the game went on and put us in a position to win late – I bet he can build on that 4th quarter next week.
Gerald McCoy is unstoppable. So is Lavonte David.
Anderson didn’t go near Verner, so obviously the guy was doing something right.
Unless I missed something, Anthony Collins played well against a nasty end. He did give up a sack, but McCown held the ball WAY too long if I’m remembering my sequences accurately.
Doug Martin started slowly in 2012, also, and that worked out okay.
ASJ, running guys over. How much fun is he going to be to watch.
Koenen is still one of the best kickoff guys in the league.
It stands to reason that with some reps together, the offensive line will improve. That’s usually how it works.
It also stands to reason that having our actual OC around all week might help the game plan a bit.

Posted Yesterday, 07:25 AMI think youre a little more optimistic or taking way too much into what you saw out of that, MJW. Our defensive line, which was suppose to be improved 10 fold, wasnt impressive at all. I dont like NOT seeing our safeties in on any plays yesterday except for right at the end when goldson dropped what couldve won us the game. Defense has a long way to go, imo. 20 points against that offense isnt good.
like i said many times about mccown. he’s good when he has time, he’s HORRIBLE when he is pressured. dumb mistakes has always been the reason he was a journeyman.

Posted Yesterday, 07:33 AMI’ve come to the conclusion that she honestly has no idea what she’s watching. She’s desperately reaching for positives that aren’t there. McCoy was no where near unstoppable yesterday. If he were, Anderson would’ve been running for his life….Final stat line….1 sack, 4 QB hits from the defense. That’s it. 334 yards allowed. She’s making excuse after excuse and telling anyone who is being honest with the situation that they aren’t a true fan. Well I think being a true fan is knowing who your team is and being honest with who they are. McCown got better because the Panthers played soft D in the 2nd half…overall he was atrocious. Everyone knows that but her…and MLM

QuoteWhat do you say in Monday’s team meeting if you’re Tampa Bay coach Lovie Smith?
Well guys, I know we just got embarrassed at home by a Panthers team starting Derek Anderson at quarterback with the worst offensive supporting cast in the NFL. And for most of the game the offense looked like it couldn’t score if it was facing Coastal Carolina instead of the Carolina Panthers. But hey, maybe we’ll face a quarterback worse than Derek Anderson and get a win this season!
Where do the Buccaneers go from here, after that stinkeroo 20-14 loss to Carolina? Sure they rallied a bit after falling behind 17-0, and had a chance to win at the end, but it shouldn’t have gotten to that point. Some of us really liked Tampa Bay coming into this season (ugh). The Bucs appeared to add a ton of talent (I’m sorry). Smith was supposed to be an upgrade at coach (yep, I messed up). And they just lost a rare gimme at home – any good NFL team beats a team quarterbacked by Anderson at home, which was a gift when Cam Newton was declared inactive – and not just lost but were humiliated.
One of the big problems is at quarterback. Josh McCown was a mistake. Smith desperately needed a veteran, any veteran, so he tossed promising 2013 rookie Mike Glennon to the bench to go with McCown. Well, McCown looked terrible. When McCown had the ball slip out of his hands, then he picked it up and shot-putted an interception to safety Roman Harper, that summed up that whole experiment.

For 3 1/2 quarters, the Bucs were completely outplayed. They had 2 first downs in the first half. Panthers ran and threw at will. We were told that the defense was going to be the strength of the team. We were told that preseason games didn’t mean anything and that the team we saw in preseason wouldn’t reflect what we’d see on the field in the regular season. We heard that the team only used vanilla offenses and 20% of the playbook in preseason so to have something special waiting for the Panthers. It was special. It was an epic pile of special. Buc fans who sat in sweltering RayJay deserved more. I don’t blame them for booing the team as early as the first quarter of the first game of Lovie’s inaugural season. McCoy is all talk – this team need less talk, more action.BucaRican

Week 1 come on felas. Yes it sucked to lose. But Carolina’s Defense was nasty. Luke Kuechly was in another dimension. The biggest struggle I took away is Josh had trouble adjusting to the speed of the game early and it got better in the second half. Play calling was horrible. And we could not get a pass rush, to much Cover 2. Besides that the online played like they had never played together o wait. Here’s to hoping things get better.

two first downs in the first half….did you see the time of possession comparison? ……we were told this defense was going to be top five and get embarrassed by a backup QB who hasn’t played in several seasonsFans in ATL, NOLA, and Carolina are already counting on sweeping the Bucs in 2014 after learning about our epic pile of **** performance……
and Ian Beckles on his radio show today talked about the blocking (lack of)….”where did they learn that?”……you think they can fix it overnight?
“I was watching the right guard and the right tackle get beat on a simple tackle-end stunt, where the offensive tackle tried to overlap, and I’m like, ‘That’s Dotson. That’s supposed to be a our best guy.’ And I’m just thinking, ‘Where are these guys learning this stuff?’ “That defensive front got after us yesterday. It was McCown doing stupid stuff, but it doesn’t matter who was in there, they weren’t going to be successful,” Beckles said.

McCown is the one to blame…Holy **** that guy. “Man, i’m about to get sacked. **** it let me just throw the ball somewhere and see what happens.” That’s what I thought he was saying to himself every time he was almost sacked.I do like what Javorski Lane said yesterday. Held himself accountable for not scoring on his run. I respect that. Thats what these guys need to do. Be held accountable. Only way they will improve from the crap yesterday.

It doesn’t matter who plays QB for the Bucs, the OL will still make the QB look like he’s engaged in a chainsaw fight with 5 other guys at the 2 second mark….
Fix it …or get ready to bring in a steady parade of the WORST of journeymen QB’s you’ve ever laid eyes on..
And for the record…

Posted Today, 06:35 AMGet a clue. that has to be the dumbest post ever. Manziel was sitting there at the Bucs pick. 5 years from now, you will be saying “wow, I didn’t realize Manziel would be such a great QB in the NFL” (while the Bucs are still in last place with some loser QB)

with their third string QB,
but I dunno know.
I think I’m going with:Rams 5
