I didn’t watch it yet–but I listened to the broadcast. It began as I feared–a slow slog–trying to hold an inferior team off and it looked like that would be the way it went–maybe losing it at the end–a game they should have won.
But then they exploded.
Great game by Woods and Goff.
The defense–all the credit in the world. They held tough until the offense got going–and GZ was Mr. Reliable once more.
Great game. Great feeling.
7-2.
And now–it really gets tough.

But until he proves he can do that year in and year out, I feel any comparisons to Jeff Fisher are premature.

woods. what a signing. i was lukewarm on the signing. i wanted garcon. but shoot. i was wrong. more dynamic than i thought.
yeah. i agree with you. team win. defense hung in there. they did get a little lucky at times. but really turned it around in the second half. as did the offense.
these next four weeks. whoa, man. whoa! how long has it been???

November 12, 2017 at 7:42 pm #77369JackPMillerParticipantWe were inconsistent. 7-6 at the end of the first half. Glad they played better in the second half. Still, can’t do that against the better teams.

first.
November 12, 2017 at 9:47 pm #77380canadaramParticipantOld emotions die hard for me. Whenever the offense starts a game with a long dry spell, like they did today, I assume that they won’t be able to turn it around. Thirteen years of bad offense will do that to some of us I guess. But man-o-man, did they ever turn it around in the 3rd quarter.
I watched most of the Vikings/Washington game today. Aside from a couple of mistakes from Keenum, Minnesota looked unstoppable. Tough, tough game coming up.

I’m getting more comfortable with winning so hopefully the reviews will improve … I was hoping to have the Texans exploit some weaknesses on our offensive unit and they did an okay job in the first half.
The Great
1) Halftime adjustments this year …. really I swear I didn’t know we were allowed, it’s been so long since we’ve done it.
2) Okay Robert, you get into the great section … I had no idea that we would have this kind of response from him after his inconsistency in Buffalo. On pace for 1000 yards and lots of explosive plays.
3) Barron’s INT. That’s his 3rd. As a LB. I’m starting to think that having the center of our D stable is more important than having Quinn OR Tru.
4) WAAAAAADE.
The Good
5) Ebukam strip sack! Keep it up big guy! He almost had 2.
6) Deep hits on the back end by JJ3.
7) Kupp getting some momentum back.
8) Greg the leg having an all pro year.
9) “Next man up” with Blythe after Saffold went down.
10) Brockers and Donald … really … what a presence on the Dline. Splash plays 5 times a game …
11) Gurley, specifically his tightroping and staying in bounds for big gains.
12) Goff following a career best with a “better best.” Proving to me that I shouldn’t ever sit him in FF.
The Bad
13) Robey Coleman is going to hurt us with PI this year … dunno when, but it’s going to happen and it’s going to hurt.
14) I want more from Everett.
15) We tend to get gashed by the run in the first half then tighten up, but then teams have to go away from the run. Teams that play us close (I’m looking at you, Saints and Eagles) are going to give us problems against the run in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
16) Webster is not a #1 CB. He’s a good 2, but he gets exposed against true #1 WRs. I don’t think we can pay Tru, and I don’t think we can draft a real replacement. I think we’re going to just be weak there next year while the draftee learns the ropes. I have a list of CBs that are solid … but unless McFadden falls due to (insert zero reasons) … we are going to just have to eat that loss.
17) How long does it take to realize that Clowney needs 2 on him, and should never be blocked by a TE? It should take ONCE. He is an injury waiting to happen .. and anyone with his size and speed cannot be allowed to get a full run at anyone on our team.
Going forward
18) I think we clobber the Vikings next week. I don’t think they have enough on offense to keep up. I think they’ll have turnovers and their defense won’t be able to keep them in it.
19) I think the Saints game is the biggest offensive showing of the year.
20) I dont know what to think of the Eagle game yet.

Halftime adjustments.
We haven’t seen them in a decade.
This year…they do them.

I don’t agree with that at all. I think Diggs and/or Thielen can both light up the Rams secondary. Furthermore, the Rams offense will be hard pressed to put up big points against the Vikings defense.

I watched about 4 drives of the game today, and it looked to me like the Vikings defense is good.

The Vikings D is very good. They were playing without their sack leader, Everson Griffen, vs. Washington. I’m assuming that he’ll be back vs the Rams as it sounds like they were just be cautious with some soreness in his foot.

LolTwo more wins and we leave the Fisher-Zone. Ie the 7-9/8-8 zone-of-mediocrity.
I do believe 9-7 is attainable.

You mean…with 7 games left, including the 49ers and Cardinals, you think the Rams might win two of them?

I just watched the game on replay. It just keeps sinking in, how important Whitworth is. I really hope they draft a LT with their first pick because I’ve discovered….and I’m going to go out on a limb AGAIN — an LT is important.
Of all the players on this team, i think they can least afford to lose their LT. Even if Goff goes out, i think Mannion would be ok. But if Whitworth goes down…I dunno.
Draft another LT.

McVay’s play calling along with players that have the confidence and ability to execute consistently (Woods, Goff, Gurley, Kupp, Whitworth, Tru, Tree, Donald, Bockers, Ethan W. etc) gives the team hope to dig themselves out of holes like they faced in the 1st half………… things that the Rams haven’t been able to do consistently in a over a dozen seasons……
The Texans looked like Fisher’s Rams on Sunday…. ready to extend a lead right before half to 14-6 after taking the ball over on the Rams 38 thanks to a failed fake punt by the Hekker to Cooper….
Houston then drives deep inside the Rams 10 yard line thanks to decent gains by RB Lamar Miller with a carry to the 6 yard line that would’ve made it 2nd and 3 from the Rams 6 yard line…., instead, it’s holding Texans, now it’s 2nd and 17 from the Rams 20, next play, Savage is picked….
Rams take advantage and drive downfield to kick an FG to retake the lead and never look back…….
that holding play and pick was the turning point, something the Rams have victimized themselves many times over the past dozen years…..
Huge HUGE game next week in Minnesota, then N.O., then AZ, then Philly. then the Great Northwest…….Wild ride ahead!!!
