Fwiw SB had a good year. His best completion percentage (71.3%), his best INT percentage (0.8%), tied for his best YPA (7), and his best qb rating (98.1), and his lowest sack percentage (5.0%), all behind a bad and beat-up OL with Peterson out and the team being 32nd in rushing yards.

    Not bad.

Apparently you can rub more salt in that wound.

The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

Wounds are best served well salted (and, for really festered ones, a bit of lemon juice too).

Good for Sam. I am very happy for him.

the last 2 Rams seasons could have been very different.

He’s mose likley relieved he left

I agree. You can hate his knee but not him. He seemed like a good guy in a very dysfunctional organization.

Rick Spielman: “Everything’s in flux” with Sam Bradford beyond 2017

Rick Spielman: “Everything’s in flux” with Sam Bradford beyond 2017

Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman said Thursday that the Vikings haven’t decided what they’ll do with running back Adrian Peterson and the same is true when it comes to quarterback Sam Bradford beyond the 2017 season.

Bradford is entering the final year of his contract and the uncertainty about Teddy Bridgewater’s health means that the Vikings will be picking up the $18 million cap hit. The Vikings traded first- and fourth-round picks for him following Bridgewater’s severe knee injury last summer, something Spielman said that he’d do “over in a second” given the position the Vikings were in.

He was less committal about what the team was thinking about for 2018. Spielman included Bradford among players whose contracts needed to be addressed, but gave no indication about the team’s plans.

“Everything’s in flux right now,” Spielman said, via Tom Pelissero of USA Today. “So, I’ll just leave it at that.”

Spielman said “everybody’s hoping” Bridgewater can play again, but that the quarterback hasn’t done any football drills at this point in his recovery. His progress in the coming months will likely play a role in any decision about Bradford’s future, although it will be hard to give up the bird in the hand should the Vikings find their way back to a winning record in 2017.

Bradford is better than Bridgewater. I would be looking to keep Bradford regardless of Bridgewater’s recovery status.

He really threw a lot of accurate quick darts in that offense, under
    plenty of duress.

Still, i wouldnt want him as my franchise QB. There’s just somethin
about Sam i dont like. I cant quite put my finger on it.

He’s a very good QB…… I’d take him over most of the NFL playoff QBs from last year, with the exception of Rodgers, Wilson and Carr…… I’d take Sam over Brady only because Brady is 105 years old in NFL years….

Give me Sam over Prescott, Ryan, Big Ben, Alex Smith and Dieter Osweiler…..

I think he’s won the gig over Teddy the Bridge over troubled Waters…..

Vikings benefit from extended presence of Sam Bradford

Last year, the very late arrival of quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota offense was akin to changing a tire on a moving car. This year, the Vikings and Bradford have a full chance to tinker with the vehicle before putting it on the track.

The Vikings are raving about what Bradford can bring to the team with a full offseason of work, as opposed to late year — where there was no offseason work, no training camp, no preseason with Bradford.

“It is crazy because during the season, it was almost like he had been there all offseason, so for us now to have an offseason on top of that, what we did last year, it is great,” receiver Adam Thielen said, via Ben Goessling of ESPN.com. “Obviously him talking to us, telling us how he likes things done, how we like things done, kind of getting on the same page. That is what this is all about. I think we have gotten off to a great start.”

Despite Thielen’s positivity about Bradford in 2016, the Minnesota offense struggled, finishing 28th in total yards and slumping to a 3-8 finish after a 5-0 start. The abrupt resignation of offensive coordinator Norv Turner surely was a factor, as was poor play from the offensive line. Still, having Bradford for the full year as opposed to having him from Labor Day on — along with (presumably) having offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur employed through January — can’t hurt.

Assuming Bradford doesn’t get hurt. Despite a history of injuries, he took a beating last year but kept going. With Teddy Bridgewater’s status still undetermined, it will be important to keep Bradford healthy for as much of the season as possible.
