Unexpectedly, the Chiefs managed to beat the Rams pre-season team.

Perkins 2 INTs but one was tipped.

I think they can win some games with Perkins, let Stafford get better

I thought for what Perkins had to work with, as in the OLine, he played as well, as any young QB could play. I felt happy when BP got his first TD. The D played as well as they could. But that tip by Carlos Dunlap, killed us. Then again, he is 6’7″, with long arms, and big hands, and there was nothing that Perkins could have done. It was a great defensive play.

If we could find the money, I would love to sign JuJu Smith Schuster, in free agency. He could be big for our WR.

Tough place for a first start.  I did like the energy and no quit from Perkins.  If I was King of the World, I’d decree that he should start the rest of our games.

I was most encouraged by the play of A.J. Acuri. He wasn’t dominant or anything and maybe PPF or PFF or whatever the f+*k it’s called will grade him poorly, but I thought that he played well in his first start.

The Rams really need to address their lack of a pass rush this off-season.

Perkins lacks zip in his passes… picks were and are inevitable…..

    Their red-zone defense played a very good….this game could’ve been a laugher….

Rams had 13 first downs… and 27 mins of possession…. it seemed a lot less.

    Seattle is next…

In the middle of all the mayhem they’ve actually turned up a few OL guys along the way. Jackson and Acruri.  You’re not supposed to be able to play 5 LOTs in one season and then conclude you may have something there. Anchrum had so good buzz but he was hurt too soon to really say…but still, I buy in on the buzz. I think only have to draft one OL this draft, then bring the other 457,676 (by then healed up) bodies they have on OL to camp and sort it out.

Yeah, and if they have anything in Logan Bruss that would also be a bonus.

Another week where the score was closer than I expected it to be.  Good on everyone still healthy for gutting it out.

Some positives for me: Hoecht hustles. He’s a pretty good athlete for his size, though he needs to get a lot stronger to play well along the D-line. I saw him numerous times downfield, trying to make a play. No quit, and he’s good on ST too. Arcuri seemed to play well for his first start, though not perfect. The o-line was overmatched, of course, going against the first team KC defense. The Rams are essentially playing their exhibition season team, and they showed No Quit as well.

Perkins is obviously good as a runner. He needs some serious help, though, with his passing. Puts waaay too much air under his throws, and that’s a pic waiting to happen. He showed more zip in college, if memory serves, so I think he can throw the ball hard. But there may have been changes since then, so I’m not sure. It’s another positive that the team seems to like him and want to do well while he’s on the field.

I think the Rams need to try to trade Floyd in the offseason, but if they can’t, find the ideal time to let him go for cap savings and a comp pick. I’d like to see them keep Scott at safety, but I’m guessing they won’t. If they do move on, I think they should at least cross-train Kendrick for safety. He seems to be a willing tackler, and aggressive, but lacks the speed to play corner, IMO. Safety may be better for him. Which leads me to a more radical idea: Ramsey should play safety as well, but that would depend on the Rams upgrading their corner spots. Free agency is the most likely route there. If they can field two good corners, move Ramsey to safety. The flipside is obvious: major upgrades at safety would mean Ramsey stays put.

(They never should have let Johnson go)

Even with the loss, I’m glad I watched the game. That hasn’t changed for me since 1966.

Looks like they played hard.   Thats about all i look for at this point.

Might finish with five wins, or so.

yeah. it would be unfair to expect anything more. i mean this has to be their second string offense out there at this point right?

anyway. i expect guys to come back healthy next year. but that still doesn’t fix the oline problems.

but that still doesn’t fix the oline problems.

IMO they are better off fixing the OL this summer v. last summer.

They have played 5 LOTs, 8 OGs, and 3 OCs. Assume that all or most of those bodies heal up. Next summer they could have most of those guys in camp. And they would be experienced players. Plus Bruss. Plus the 1 or 2 they draft. They might elect to not re-sign a couple of the UDFAs. But still it would be a lot.

There were some poor players in that mix, but some promising ones too.

They could sort through all that and come up with an OL.
