#Rams CB Marcus Peters just called Sean McVay’s offense: “Crazy unique.”

    Myles Simmons@MylesASimmons
Aqib Talib at the podium. Says OTA No. 1 was good, and he got an introduction to the McVay offense. Called it “pretty crazy” with all the movement.

CB Marcus Peters said the McVay offense is “crazy unique.” Peters added the way the unit goes up tempo keeps the defense on its toes and will make the defense better.

Sign of things to come? #Rams Jared Goff just hooked up with Brandin Cooks on a 60-yard TD pass in 7-on-7 drill. Whole thing was won at line of scrimmage when Cooks & Cooper Kupp ran cross action, buying Cooks a half second to beat his defender to boundary. Goff delivered a dime

Brandin Cooks calls Jared Goff “a natural born leader.” Says the work the receivers have done so far with him away from the facility is already paying off.

Every Rams player of note seems to be present today except for Aaron Donald and Obo Okoronkwo. A few guys aren’t going through drills, and Mark Barron was out of uniform entirely.

    Myles Simmons@MylesASimmons
CB Marcus Peters says he feels like he learns fast, so he’s coming along in the defense well.

Goff said he felt like Monday was a good first day of OTAs, added he felt like things were “really crisp.”

Goff also called WR Brandin Cooks “a sponge” and someone who “wants to be great.” Goff connected with Cooks on a few passes at multiple levels during the session.

Most impressive was a deep pass Goff made down the left side to Cooks in 7-on-7. Goff showed arm strength/accuracy, Cooks showed off his speed. 7-on-7, yes, but would’ve been an easy TD.

Goff says he feels more in command of McVay’s system going into year 2 of it

There are billions at stake, as states consider whether to legalize sports betting.

Like the other leagues, the NFL is claiming it has intellectual property rights and also plans to push to be the sole source of its league data. Both of those stipulations would make the NFL a TON of revenue from sports betting.

Here’s the thing about the leagues claiming intellectual property rights, when it comes to sports betting: They’ve done it before. And lost. Multiple times. I have my doubts about whether they have any chance of winning on this issue.

Ownership of league data, however, is an interesting discussion. In no other legal market in the world do leagues have sole rights to their data. But for legislators, allowing the leagues the right to their own data seems fair on the surface. They’ll fight hard for it, too.

WR Brandin Cooks on what makes the #LaRams offense so unique: “Coach McVay does such a great job putting players in a great spot. There’s no selfishness and we really believe that whole ‘We Not Me’ process.”

“Going against @marcuspeters and @AqibTalib21 in practice everyday is a dream.” @brandincooks

Most of the team work was 1s against 2s. So you had Goff/Gurley/Cooks/ect going after the 2s and Mannion/Brown/Reynolds going after the 1s.

Couple rooks made some defensive plays in the team portions of practice. OLB Justin Lawler, the seventh-round pick from SMU, dropped into coverage in the red zone and made a diving breakup of a wobbly Goff ball down the right sideline. Huge cheer from the defense.

On the other side of the field, in the same drill I think, cornerback Curtis Mikell, the UDFA from Southern Miss, picked off Mannion in traffic.

To me, Higbee and Reynolds were offense standouts in the 7 on 7. Both made a couple plays. I took PBP in the 11 on 11 and the offense didn’t do much there. Lot of run plays. Gurley got all three touches on first series. Brown and Davis on first series for 2s.

Also, Temarrick Hemingway was moving really well when I saw him in drills. He looks to be well over last year’s injury.

Without Whit and Sully, Cornelius Lucas and Austin Blythe joined the first OL at LT and C. Second OL was Noteboom-Demby-Neary-Eldrenkamp-Williams. Demby was hustling. Or he’s pretty quick. Liked the way he moved.

I had the DL as Suh-Westbrooks-Fox and FranklinMyers-Smart-Bryant. LBs as Littleton-Wilson-Ebukam and Lawler-Kiser-Howard-Young. Missing a first-team edge because I wrote down 52 (Wilson) twice. Maybe he moved around.

And the secondary seemed as you’d expect. Talib-Joyner-JJohnson-Peters and Shields-Countess-IJohnson-Hill. With NRC at nickel. Didn’t make note of a nickel on the 2s.

Should point out that in order to see some of this stuff, you have to stand at an angle from like 50 yards and a find a number through a maze of limbs, so I’m sure I didn’t catch everything. But at least it’s a framework.

Cool stuff, thanks for posting it zn.

In the FWIW department, the Vikings defensive coordinator, George Edwards, rented the house next to ours. My wife went outside and chatted with him and his wife while they were looking over the dandelions in the back yard. Irony: he rented the house from a guy who is a big Packers fan!
