Weddle earns second consecutive NFL Way to Play award | Rams official site
https://www.therams.com/news/back-to-back-weddle-nfl-way-to-play-award
In recognition of showcasing proper playing technique to make impactful plays, Rams safety Eric Weddle received the NFL’s Way to Play award for the second straight week. He is the first back-to-back winner in the award’s history.September 28, 2019 at 11:14 am #105838znModeratorzn
In the first half of each game, the Rams got (1) 112 yards and 13 points, (2) 173 yards and 6 points, and (3) 144 yards and 3 points.
In the 2nd half of each game, they got (1) 237 yards and 17 points, (2) 207 yards and 21 points, and (3) 200 yards and 17 points.
In fact according to teamrankings.com the Rams are 2nd in the league in 2nd half points. In contrast they are 25th in first half points.
September 28, 2019 at 12:11 pm #105842InvaderRamModeratorso i take that as being mcvay making adjustments. players also getting into the rhythm of the game.
but overall you also add in the fact that the oline is still jelling.
goff is still adjusting to nfl defenses adjusting to him.
gurley has slowed down a bit.
and on top of that i still believe that gurley’s usage will increase as we get toward the end of the season. he’s still pretty durn good although maybe not as explosive as he once was.
it’s just a lot of things happening at once. they’ll get better. how much better is the question i guess.
ooh. but that defense. that defense is pretty durn good.

I got these listening to the Fantasy Football Weekly show.
This stat regarding the Rams defense with and without Talib. Courtesy Mike Tagliere
In the last 19 games (so the start of the 2018 season)
Rams defense with Talib (11 games) 210 passing ypg; 0.7 TDs; 1.4 ints
Rams defense w/o Talib (8 games) 300 passing ypg; 2.9 TDs; just under 1 int.No other context beyond that. I knew the Rams missed him last year, but dang. Thats a massive swing
Now Goff.
This is from Sports Info Solutions via Evan Silva:
Goff vs zone coverage: 14 TDs 12 INTs
Goff vs. Man coverage: 17 TDs 2 INTsAgain, no other context.
Tampa Bay should run a lot of man coverage this Sunday. I expect (if that is the case) Goff, at home to have a large day.
Anyhow. I thought those were interesting. Esp. for those that like stats.
I like the Talib stat simply because it is what it is. The defense is better with Talib then without.
As far as Goff, I wouldn’t read into that one as much because it doesn’t include pressure rate vs. both, the quality of the defenses he is facing, so forth and so on.
One thing I know for sure, he is going to see alot of 6-1 fronts with zone behind it, so he better figure it out.

I was at the game and you could tell those turnovers were coming. The Bucs were getting penetration on EVERY offensive play whether running or passing. Look no further than the 22 yards rushing.

This is Jameis’s best game since he threw 5 TDs at the Linc in 2015.
Dude is 25-for-36, 348 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, 137.3.Rams-Bucs is the first game in NFL history where both teams made a field goal of at least 58 yards.
Greg Zuerlein for the Rams, Matt Gay for the Bucs.Goff’s 517 passing yards 8th-most in NFL history.
68 attempts 3rd-most in NFL history.
Rams 1st team in NFL history to throw more than 65 times [68] and run fewer than 12 times [11].
Rams first team since 1966 to score 40 points and lose by at least 15 points.

Entering this season, the Rams ranked 2nd in first-quarter scoring since 2017.This year, they’re 31st with only 6 points scored. They can only overcome slow starts for so long

Rams’ first-quarter offense ranks among worst in the NFLVincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
It’s more of an intent, objective and priority to get your run game going – which has been the #Rams identity – and they’ve gotten away from that while trying to manage Gurley’s usage. I believe it would help the O-line to get back to that identity, too.If you are of the belief that the #Rams run game was essentially lost when Todd Gurley got hurt last year remember C.J. Anderson came off street to average 145 YPG on 20+ carries per game last two regular-season games to re-establish the Rams offensive identity and formula

I just rewatched the game. All things considered, I think Goff played really well.
He made some amazing throws, under constant duress, and given a terrible game plan. Plus his defense kept his back to the wall all game.
The Bucs were kicking the crap out of him, and he was still making accurate throws late in the game.
Yes, he missed on some big plays, but it’s very easy to get caught up in the pure numbers without context as PFF does. McVay did him no favors with the longer developing play calls in the face of a defense just teeing off on Goff.
He’s looked clearly better to me than last year. And the receivers looked as good as last year for sure.
What clearly looked worse than last year was EVERY other single element of the team. Defense, OL, running game, play calling. They were all below average to bottom 10.

Rams CB Marcus Peters is not on (estimated) injury report. Peters was evaluated for a concussion Sunday. He has been cleared, per a Rams spokesman.Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
Are we really talking about “panic” with Jared ???? Seriously????!The question posed was when do #Rams fans hit the “panic” button on Jared Goff. That’s a beyond absurd question four games into a 3-1 season in which he’s making an adjustment to a whole new world of operation between the (not as good) offensive line and Todd Gurley Lite.

At their current pace, Rams receivers Cooper Kupp (1,552), Robert Woods (1,228) and Brandin Cooks (1,184) each would finish the season with more than 1,000 yards receiving.September 30, 2019 at 9:46 pm #106025znModeratorTorry Holt@BigGame81

Watching tape I am continually amazed at: 1) Lack of quality passing concepts 2) Lack of quality QUICK concepts (not BUBBLE/WR screens) to help younger, but all, QBs 3) Number of QBs that get away with not playing with vision & understanding bc of athleticism #LeadsToBadThingsManBrian Baldinger@BaldyNFL

Under constant duress and still made a ton of big-time throws. Biggest issue was their o-line got dominated by Shaq Barrett and crew #LARams
