Steelers look at their options, decide to make a business decision and use the franchise tag: “Well that’s just smart.”

Le’Veon Bell looks at his options, decides to make a business decision and continues his holdout: “HOW DARE HE!”

Amazes me how everyone capes for management

Rams linebacker Mark Barron said he’s still not certain whether he will be able to play Monday. Still coming back from injuries.

One thing that should have been obvious to me, and wasn’t, is how much angst there will be if the Rams don’t completely dominate this year. I picked them to go 11-5 and took (polite) heat. Did you know the Vegas over/under is 10 wins? Money to be made if you’re that confident.

Rams offensive line coach Aaron Kromer has no concerns about being without Jamon Brown for two weeks: “We have the ultimate confidence in Austin Blythe.”

The Rams locked up Todd Gurley long-term and avoided any drama whatsoever. The Steelers, meanwhile …

    2017 Season:

Brandin Cooks – 16 receptions on throws beyond 20 yards (led the #NFL)

Jared Goff – 17 completions on throws beyond 20 yards

So if #LARams were only going to trade out one piece on offense, it seems they chose wisely.

#Raiders Jon Gruden, on Sean McVay’s rise: “We have to try and slow down that rise. We have to try to douse the flames. He’s smoking right now. It’s been exciting, man. Anytime you see a young guy come into a profession and do what he’s done, it’s awesome.”

Aaron Donald laughed when reminded that he was the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history for one day, before he was topped by Khalil Mack. Donald said he cared not. “No. I’m just happy that my situation got done and that I’m here playing football. That’s all that matters.”

Linebacker Mark Barron did not practice Thursday because of an ankle injury, according to the Rams’ injury report. Barron was extremely limited throughout training camp and did not play in the preseason. He expressed uncertainty Thursday whether he’ll play in a season opener Monday against the Oakland Raiders. “We’re just taking it day-by-day and we’ll see how it goes at the end of the week and we’ll make that decision,” Barron said. Ramik Wilson, acquired in free agency after three seasons with the Chiefs, has been playing in Barron’s absence. Last season Barron intercepted three passes, had four pass deflections, 72 tackles and a sack in 14 games. He was slowed and sidelined because of various injuries, including Achilles soreness, and he underwent shoulder surgery after the season.

    PETERS GIVES BACK

Cornerback Marcus Peters reached out on Wednesday, giving away hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to local children in Inglewood.
Here’s what Peters had to say about his chance to give back, per Los Angeles Times’ Gary Klein.
“We call it putting your feet into the street,” Peters said. “So actually, just touching the pavement and feeling exactly what’s needed. I don’t need nobody to come out here and do a job that I can come get done myself.”
