The Rams are looking to throw money, and passes, in Robert Woods’ directionSean McVay said Rams would like to get extension done for WR Robert Woods. The former USC star has outperformed contract he signed in 2017. Says Rams can pay Kupp and Woods.

There are a few specific things that Rams receiver @robertwoods does better than literally any other receiver in the league – and the Rams know it.Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Aaron Donald on Micah Kiser: “He had a great camp. To translate that to his first NFL start and play how he played at a high level, communicating well, coming up filling holes, I think he’ll continue to get better and he’s got an opportunity to be a special football player.”Rams DL Aaron Donald on Eagles OL: “They’re a good group. They’re a young group, but overall they play well together.”

@NFL stat of the week. In 16 games in wk 1 a grand total of 18 holding penalties were called. So much for “holding on every play” My gut tells me that holding calls will go way up in wk 2, starting tonightNext Gen Stats@NextGenStats

The Rams are looking to throw money, and passes, in Robert Woods’ directionRobert Woods is still my favorite player right now. Has been ever since he joined the Rams. I loved him at USC.
He is the Old Faithful of WRs. There are other WRs that have more spectacular eruptions, but Old Faithful is the most dependable, and the most frequent.

Veteran RB C.J. Anderson, who went to the Pro Bowl and won a Super Bowl, is retiring from NFL at age 29. A great run for an undrafted free agent. Anderson now plans to pursue a career in coaching and initially is likely to do it at a big power 5 college. “Details soon,” he said.Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
The Rams have a lot of versatile pieces in their secondary, so does the understanding that they are going to probably see more multiple-tight end work from the Eagles mean they can open up their playbook a little deeper?Big grin from Jalen Ramsey:
“Perhaps.”

Rams CB Jalen Ramsey on potential of team’s defense this season: “I don’t want to put a ceiling or a cap on it, because we have so much more to tap into.”Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
I actually think we might see Rapp a little more this week. I got a little bit of a clue as to how he might factor in some packages they maybe didn’t want to show too much of last week. At one point right at the end of the game, I saw Rapp, John Johnson III and rookie Jordan Fuller all on the field at the same time. I certainly respect what Fuller has been able to do in terms of playing his way into a large role, but I would bet Rapp is going to be a big piece of the puzzle, particularly as the Rams start to deal with bigger, prolific pass-catching tight ends. We will enjoy seeing Jalen Ramsey match up on a tight end in some cases, and especially when that tight end is, say, a George Kittle/No.1 receiver-type, but in the case of the Eagles, there are two prolific pass-catching tight ends and also a couple solid receivers. So yeah, I think they’ll need some extra safety help via Rapp.I came into camp thinking Hill may rotate on the outside with Williams opposite Ramsey, but one day of watching Staley’s defense made me change my tune. The thing about playing slot corner is you can be physically a smaller player, as Hill is when compared to Ramsey (and especially Ramsey’s wingspan, which is crucial for making plays on the ball and jamming physically with receivers off the line of scrimmage). But what a slot corner lacks in length, he must make up for in overall technicality, change-of-direction speed, smarts and understanding of all of the layers in the middle of the field, and physicality, as it’s the toughest receivers who are going across the middle.
Slot receivers are the technicians. They are supposed to work the underneath stuff, setting up intricate route patterns and weaving in and out of all the bodies in there. Outside cornerbacks also have to play with such a high level of technique, but the big difference here is that they often have more space to work with. A slot corner has to have the technique in his feet and body control to stay with that receiver, while keeping him contained underneath and also moving through that same traffic. There are, of course, more important traits needed but I think you get the concept. And Hill is taking to this role really, really well. But, that doesn’t mean he can’t play on the outside if he needs to do so.
I see a ton of potential in linebackers Micah Kiser and Kenny Young. I think they are both super-bright, and of course you want them to clean some things up in their tackling and such, but I really see positives in them moving forward and I believe the Rams can afford to bring those two along together in the middle this season because of all of the ways they move their extra defensive backs around. They naturally shore up the middle of the field. This is a good week to see what kind of potential those linebackers have as it pertains to coverage. I expect a lot of Wentz-to-tight ends in the game plan.

FWIW, to an observer, from the day he arrived at USC in 2010, Robert Woods practiced like a focused NFL vet. Or at least like a player with an eye toward playing in the league for a long time.Los Angeles Rams@RamsNFL

I only worry about games we should win. Those are the only ones we can screw up.
If we win the games we should win, we make the playoffs.
Buffalo is a top 6 or 8 team. Winning that will be awesome … losing won’t bother me that much.
Losing to Philly will mess with my week.

If you believe that Dallas and Philadelphia will ultimately contend for the NFC East crown and a Wild Card berth – and I do – then what an opportunity this weekend is for the Rams.September 19, 2020 at 5:32 pm #121317znModeratorArchie Manning on Jack Youngblood.
from the wiki
Manning was the second overall pick in the 1971 NFL Draft and played for the New Orleans Saints for ten full seasons. During his tenure in New Orleans, the Saints had nine losing seasons. Nevertheless, he was well respected by NFL peers. For example, he was sacked 337 times during his Saints career, though the number should have been much higher, according to Sports Illustrated senior writer Paul Zimmerman. Zimmerman wrote that opposing defensive linemen, “Jack Youngblood in particular”, were known to take it easy on the poorly protected Manning and not hit him as hard as they could.
For his part Manning seemed to appreciate Youngblood’s kindness, telling the Los Angeles Times, on September 23, 1974, “The Rams front four is the best I ever faced … I’ve got to say that Youngblood was nice enough to pick me up every time he knocked my ass off.” Today, Manning jokes that Youngblood’s career would not have been as successful without him. He even suggested that Youngblood should have let him be his presenter when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001, saying, “He wouldn’t have gotten in without having me to sack.”

Final update to the update: I’m told, even pre-pandemic-planning, Rams were always going to fly to East Coast games on Saturday (other than planned Buffalo stay-over).
