McVay said Pharoh Cooper might have a serious ankle injury that could keep him out for multiple weeks. Even worse, Mike Thomas, the backup kickoff returner, has a groin injury.

With a short week, the Rams have called off their Wednesday practice. They’re also not listed as practicing today.

Kinda cool to see how different expectations are for #Rams these days from their fans. And rightfully so they’re stacked. A couple years ago they would have been chest bumping off a performance like last night’s. Now it’s: So much to clean up!!

#Rams had seven new defensive starters to open the game against the #Raiders. Gave up 13 points in 1st half. Then made the adjustments to pitch a shutout in second. Wade Phillips and his staff deserve a lot of credit

Talib told me it was “freestyle” in 1st half. There was stuff the #Raiders did that wasn’t on any film. The guys I talked to felt good about passing the test of learning on the fly and adjusting on the fly to those circumstances. That’s a win for them and a nice early challenge

My two cents: Your team went on the road in the first game of the season in a hostile environment and flicked off a sluggish first half like it was nothing, and then dominated the opponent in 2nd half. When you can win by 20 playing Ok to good overall, it’s a new day indeed.

The argument isn’t whether {Goff} played exceptional. He didn’t. It’s whether he played bad. He absolutely unequivocally did not play bad.

Surprise OLB starter Dom Easley played 32 (43%) snaps. Samson Ebukam played 57 (77%) and Matt Longacre played 22 (30%). ILB starter Ramlik Wilson played 35 (47%)

After missing all of training camp, DT Aaron Donald played an incredible 89 percent (66 of 74) of the Rams defensive snaps on Monday night in Oakland

LB Cory Littleton played all 74 defensive snaps for the Rams on Monday night, along with the entire starting secondary of Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, John Johnson and Lamarcus Joyner

TE Tyler Higbee was on the field for 60 of the Rams’ 63 offensive snaps at Oakland. Gerald Everett got 5 snaps. Johnny Mundt got 2. @CVRamsClub @DowntownRams #LARvsOAK

McVay mentions the Rams had three first and goals from the 9s, which is tough. “I thought I really hurt our team in the red zone with some of the play selections.” “I’ve got to be much better for our football team. @CVRamsClub @DowntownRams

McVay says Pharoh Cooper “might be out for some time.” Sounds like he might need surgery. Mike Thomas also got hurt. Both could be out for “weeks.”

The #Raiders’ defense recorded five total pressures as a unit against the #Rams, which tied for the league-low in Week 1. In Khalil Mack’s 65 career games in Oakland, the defense recorded five or fewer pressures just once.

REPORTER: “So, Sean, just how much respect do you have for Jon Gruden after tonight?”

MCVAY: “Well, I can’t say enoug —“ /explodes from politeness

Against a very good #Raiders OL, that the #LARams rarely blitzed should be very encouraging (if unsurprising).

Against 4-man rushes, Carr averaged 6.7 yds/att and threw all 3 INT.

#LARams’ offensive line was only dinged with two QB pressures on 36 dropbacks in Monday’s season opener. None by the interior

Re-watched Rams-Raiders. Gruden scripted out the first 15 plays and they were incredible. First 15 plays were ten years in the making.

From that point on, it was all Rams.

Carr is fine. Amari is fine. Jon knows how to coach offense at a very high level. After what this offense looked like a year ago schematically, there will be growing pains. They are going from kindergarten to grad school schematically. They had NO chance a year ago. #Raiders

Todd Gurley, with a smile, on strategy of resting starters in August games. “Oh, yeah. We don’t talk about preseason around here. That’s not what we do.”

One thing about the Chiefs: We obsess about the league gushing about McVay and Shanahan–for good reason–but a lot of coaches are obsessed with Reid’s spread schemes and have been trying to pick the Chiefs’ brains about them. Reid figured some stuff out that other coaches havent

I think that is pretty much what I saw.

It was not a dominant performance, but…damn.

The Rams got better every single play, seems like, and they completely took control by the beginning of the 4th quarter.

Trifecta: Jared Cook on Monday set the Raiders’ single-game record for most receiving yards by a tight end. He now owns this record for three different NFL franchises

Which is puzzling. I mean most of the time he doesnt do much. But he has the talent to do what he did against the Rams. So why are most of his games so underwhelming?

I got the impression Gruden lit a fire under him for that game. I’ve never seen him that physical. I mean usually he’s the opposite of physical. Maybe he got tired of being viewed as nonphysical. Maybe Marshawn Lynch threatened him.

Could be playing the rams put him into a more coachable frame of mind. He certainly was a beast.

Can you imagine this offense with last Monday’s Cook on the team?
