There’s a reason the electoral college was proposed. The smaller states did not want the larger states to completely decide who would be president.
Look at this year’s result. California made all the difference for Hillary in the popular vote. She won by 4 million there, almost 3 million nationally. So, as California goes, so goes the nation?
Those who would want to change it have a huge uphill battle on their hands. 29 states have fewer than 10 electoral votes, what I would call “small states.” It would take a majority of the Senate to pass a proposed Constitutional amendment (good luck) so it can go to the states where 2/3rds of the states would have to vote in favor (even more good luck). Do you think those small states are going to pass an amendment that will take power away from them and give it to California and New York? Hardly.
So changing the electoral college is dead. Deal with it.

Sorry I’ve been away from this board for awhile. I’m in the process of shutting down my practice, my last day is Friday, and it’s been very time consuming. I’ve had to be very selective with my internet time. Going into full time nursing home practice, more money, and more importantly, more time with my wife and kids. Primary care sucks anymore, thanks to Medicare. Such a shame. I could go into more detail, if anyone would be interested.

Well said about the reality of getting rid of the Electoral College.

Best of luck in your new endeavor. Making more time for the family is never the wrong way to go . Was it the amount of time and effort wasted on paperwork and hassling with insurance companies, rising malpractice insurance and inadequate medicare compensation? My son is seriously thinking about going into medicine and this is what he is hearing from local physicians.

The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

    Sprinkles are for winners.
