Special teams won that game
And, yay
Mason looked great but if that fumble held up we would have to have him deported
October 19, 2014 at 4:13 pm #9927Eternal RamnationParticipantWell if he can learn from it ,a game winning ball security lesson against the World Champs no less it will be the best lesson ever!
October 19, 2014 at 4:15 pm #9928wvParticipantThis is one of the weirdest
Ram teams i can ever
remember.They are infuriating
even when the upset
the superbowl champs.w
vOctober 19, 2014 at 4:23 pm #9929c1ramParticipantGoing right down the field after 21-19. That’s nice. Key to game. The punt call on 4th deep in own territory. Unbelievable. Excellent!

True, but Seattle then went right
down the field on the Rams D.w
vOctober 19, 2014 at 4:27 pm #9931nittany ramModeratorIf zn’s hypothesis known as The Team Just Needs a Win to Establish Some Confidence, or TTJNWTESC is correct, then the Rams should be able to win out.
Anything less then that, then zn’s hypothesis will be completely discredited and he will be busted down to mail carrier 3rd class.
October 19, 2014 at 4:32 pm #9932sdramParticipantI’m happy that they won. I hope that they can win their next game.
Aaron Donald should get the game ball – he was a beast.
October 19, 2014 at 4:45 pm #9937InvaderRamModeratori’m glad for the win but still disheartened by the inconsistency of this team. this is not a solid formula for winning. they have to get better.
having said that. lots of positive things i can take from this game.

Exactly.
Only the rams could upset
the SuperBowl champs…in a
disheartening way.Obviously “we’ll take it”
as posters say.w

October 19, 2014 at 5:14 pm #9948wvParticipantI’m pleased. Not overwhelmed. But pleased.
Well they have a Formula now :
Just make two 70+ yard kick returns, execute a Fake punt,
and fumble the ball while
running out the clock.w
vOctober 19, 2014 at 5:18 pm #9950HighPlainsDrifterParticipantIt also seemed to be a strategy to wear down the Seahawk offense by letting them run up and down the field. Shrewd.

Laram — on Ogletreebut what AO did today goes beyond a “bad game” to me.
Alec Ogletree was a perfect example of a “coach killer” in today’s game.
I will disregard the missed tackles for this illustration, those happen far to frequently in the NFL.
But the misplays he had on Russell Wilson were totally inexcusable.
The Rams had AO spying Wilson in this game and Wilson ended up getting his career high in rush yards.
When you have contain, you learn in Pee Wee ball that you don’t give up the outside, you turn everything inside to your pursuit.
WTH was AO dipping inside and giving up the corner???
First its poor technique, and if given the choice, what do you think a qb is going to choose, inside or outside??
Russell Wilson is smart, he knows the sidelines is his friend, TURN HIM INSIDE!!! banghead

Laram what AO did today goes beyond a “bad game” to me.It is true that this game, the usual Rams mind-numbing unbelievable game-costing (or this time, near game-costing) mistakes and “what in the living hell was he thinking”-level execution errors virtually all went to Ogletree.
There was of course also the Mason fumble, so he was not entirely alone.
Anyway, Ogletree is turning into this year’s version of pre-2014 Brian Quick.

Thought Fisher’s call to let Hekker win the game was far better than letting the defense go down the drain
and btw the Rams had two timeouts still….so even if the hawks had scored the Rams had a shot at a game ender
And Givens !
First I thought it was Stedman
But Chris goes up and snatches that ball
In so many ways, that was the game. It led to the extra TD that ended up being the winning points
the dreadful 3 and 17 that Wilson for was a crazy maker for me, but the givens catch was a stab in the Hawks heart
October 19, 2014 at 6:40 pm #9961PA RamParticipantClearly the key to the game was the fact that I was unable to watch it today.
Had I watched, the Rams would have pulled out one of their magical losses.
I will make plans to be away next Sunday. I will ride that until they lose.
Other than that, from what I gather, it was a “tricky” sort of win. I’ll take it.

October 19, 2014 at 6:59 pm #9962Eternal RamnationParticipantTA’s fake punt reception to spring Bailey for the 85yd TD is my favorite. I’ve never seen anything like it.
October 19, 2014 at 11:02 pm #9985nittany ramModeratorThat was the first time the Seahawks had their way offensively against the Rams in the Fisher era. Even in the losses to the Seahawks the Rams defense always held their own. Wilson usually struggles against the Rams but today he set an NFL record – 1st QB to have 100 yds rushing and 300 yds passing in the same game.

Ogletree made three off the charts physical/mental errors.
Missed a tackle on Baldwin on the first possession which cost his team 3 pts. and twice lost contain on Russell Wilson leading to huge gains.

Rams QB Austin Davis gets it done when needed most
By Nick WagonerFor the day, Davis was 18-of-21 for 152 yards and two touchdowns for a rating of 128.6. That completion percentage plus punter Johnny Hekker’s completion on one attempt left the Rams converting 86.3 percent of their pass attempts, the highest allowed by the Seahawks in franchise history.

Well there’s an interesting fact.

vTrue but Wilson has been doing that against just about everyone in every close game they were behind since mid-2012. That ain’t specific to the Rams. I was expecting it. But I didn’t think the Rams would come out ahead in the end. That was special.

Yup, very bad plays by Ogletree. He’s been horrible much of this year.
October 20, 2014 at 4:03 am #10013GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantNow Seattle players coaches and fans will be tortured by did they recover a fumble or did they not and did the refs screw them over? I love it. So close for them but so far away! ha ha ha.
AZ may win the West and that would be okay by me if the Rams cannot. Better the Cardinals win than Seattle or the Niners.
Grits

October 20, 2014 at 6:05 pm #10037HighPlainsDrifterParticipantWhat do you suppose was going through the mind of Gregg Williams when Fisher called for the fake punt? Was there a feeling of ‘no confidence’? Was he a bit humiliated? A slap in the face? Only six games into the season and Fisher is gambling deep in his own territory rather than turn the game over to Williams’ defensive unit. Where do they go from here?
October 20, 2014 at 6:39 pm #10040wvParticipantCan you imagine the feelings on the team
and among the fans, if the Rams had punted
and the Seahawks had marched down the field
and kicked the FG: 29-28Rams blow a 21-3 lead.
Imagine the mood on the message boards 🙂
O dear.
The Chief game looks inter esting.
Alex Smith is good but he aint mobile.
Maybe Ogletree wont wiff on him.w

vYeah, to me, Fisher going for the fake punt was the smallest gamble he could make.
If the fake punt isn’t successful, the Seahawks have the ball deep in Rams territory. They would score rather quickly, leaving the Rams enough time to at least have a shot at scoring themselves. The Rams led by two points so no matter if Seattle scored a FG or TD, the Rams would still only be one score down with timeouts remaining.
If he punts the ball, the Seahawks would be have more field to cover so they would be able to run the clock down before their inevitable score to go ahead. And let’s not kid ourselves – them scoring would have been inevitable.
So to me the fake punt was an easy call by Fisher. He really had no other choice.

Yeah. If the Rams punt there, they lose.

vOctober 21, 2014 at 10:04 am #10091PA RamParticipantI missed the game. Just watched the highlights. It appears the Rams TRIED to lose the game at the end but they screwed that up, I guess. Anyway–I will likely miss the next game or a good portion of it so we’ll see if this can start steamrolling into some sort of playoff run or was just a brief moment of happiness for exhausted Rams fans.
Seattle does not appear to be on its way to a repeat season.
