Rams Weekly with Fisher
Saw Fisher on the Rams weekly tonight and unless he is putting up a smokescreen it sounds like SB will be QB next year. Fisher again said tonight that SB was one of the reasons he came to St. Louis. He went on to say that they would work during the offseason on having a plan in place in case of another injury.
Listening to him also talk about the stability of the coaching staff here makes me now think unless Schotty gets another offer he too will return for the 2015 season.
This was on at 6:30 channel 2 with Martin K asking the questions.

“At this point he is. I think it’s reasonable to expect another QB to compete here.” Fisher on Bradford being the best option. #FisherShow101espn @101espn
“We’ll spend a lot of time trying to improve our overall scheme. You’ll see a dramatic change next year.” – Fisher #FisherShowDecember 29, 2014 at 10:24 pm #14988InvaderRamModeratorwell it makes sense. because bradford is the best option for 2015. i mean who else could come in next year with his kind of talent and knowledge of this offense. it’d be impossible.
but yeah. beyond 2015. they have to find another quarterback.
i also think changing coordinators on either side is not the answer. i think blame on that side is almost always overblown. and in fact it can become a detriment when you keep changing the scheme.
the offense has had stability in terms of scheme but has suffered some horrible injuries. the main one being at quarterback. a healthy bradford this season would have allowed schotty to expand the offense. instead they had to start over with a journeyman qb. and a quarterback with no professional games under his belt.
the defense has tons of talent, but they’ve changed coordinators every single year. so the inconsistency isn’t all that surprising to me. second year in the same system with all that youth and talent? they just need a leader or leaders to step up and get this unit to perform week in and week out.

In the original post here (I merged 2 threads) … ie. the Fisher show, Fisher talks about these things. Not just the Seattle game, but what they have to do this off-season to improve both units.

“At this point he is. I think it’s reasonable to expect another QB to compete here.” Fisher on Bradford being the best option. #FisherShowHe also said that right now Bradford is the favorite to start next year. This is what a lot of us have been saying. Bring Bradford AND get a qb who would be a much better #2 than we have now.
IMO, that would seem to eliminate a trade up for a QB. To go after one of the top two QBs in the draft would be to start him. Fisher said they could go the draft route, or free agent or something else. Not a direct quote, but he said all three things. All I can think of for the “something else” would be a trade. So they will be looking at all three options.
Some of us would like to both bring in a high level vet and a high draft choice at qb. I doubt that both will happen. Fisher did sign high praises of both Hill and Davis. My speculation is if the Rams bring in a vet the Rams three qbs would be Bradford, the vet, and Davis. If they draft a qb in the first two rounds their three qbs would be Bradford, the draft choice, and Hill.
December 30, 2014 at 1:07 pm #15021Isiah58ParticipantThe two things that I took from the show are:
1. Sam Bradford is the favorite to be the Rams’ starting QB for next year. He didn’t name him the starter, and we don’t even know if Sam will be on the team in ’15. But from what Fisher is willing to admit publicly, Sam is penciled in at QB. But he also said that there would be another challenger besides Davis and Hill. A 4th QB, and you get the impression that the new guy will be a 1A, and not a Garrett Gilbert type. My feeling has been that they will have to over-invest in the QB position next year because of the circumstances the past two years. Of course, stating a philosophy or a plan is one thing, but signing an real, actual, capable starting QB that is willing to come in and compete for a job (knowing SB is penciled in as the starter), and is markedly better than Shawn Hill, is much tougher. No one ever puts names to these hypothetical players. Is Chase Daniel or Kirk Cousins significantly better than Shawn Hill? Would you be excited about Brian Hoyer behind center next year, or Jason Campbell? These are realistically the type of guys you are talking about to bring in. And what is abundantly clear, at least to the Rams, is that a healthy Sam Bradford would beat all of these guys out in a QB competition. And that is why SB is penciled in as the starter for ’15.
2. Fisher was adamant that they would be playing in January next year. I think is part confidence, and part pressure. I do not think he can survive another 6-10 season, even under the worst of conditions. The pressure will finally be cranked up significantly next year, and I don’t think any excuses will wash. What worries me is that the injury gods were unusually kind to the Rams this year, except for the big 3. The Rams finished the season with only a couple players on IR, and was healthy for most of the year. I attribute part of that to being a very young team, so they are less likely to break down. Jake Long and Chris Long, two of the more veteran players, were two of the most significant injuries. Hopefully next year will not be the “make-up” year where the injury bug bites back hard <fingers crossed>.

Fisher says Greg Robinson will be the team’s LT next season. Says he’s not sure if Jake Long wants to continue playing.
