silver linings?
November 9, 2014 at 7:32 pm #11491nittany ramModeratorDefense has arrived, finally. At least mostly. That was a valiant effort. If not for an acrobatic catch on that bomb the defense would have held a good Cardinals team to 10 points at home.

Tre Mason looks good.
Scott Wells? Not so much.

Yeah, Williams is too in love with blitzing and trying to prove he is the smartest guy in the room. I am not impressed.
November 9, 2014 at 8:01 pm #11500TSRFParticipantNot a silver lining for us Rams fans, but this victory for the Cards keep them on top of the NFC and 2 games ahead of the Seahawks and three games ahead of the 49ers.
I actually hope the Cardinals hold serve and win home field throughout the playoffs and represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
I HATE the 49ers. I intensely dislike the Seahawks (more now than a few years ago; it can grow into a hatred…).
I’ve always kind of liked the Cards. I’m too young for the Cardiac Kids, but growing up in Fairfield County, CT, the only NFC game that was on the TV every week was the NY Giants. Most of my friends were Giants fans, so we’d watch the games together (I started rooting for the Rams in 1979, the same year I started High School). Most of the time, I’d root for the Giants; I hate the Cowboys and the Redskins. The Eagles, during the Jaworski years and then Randall Cunningham, I kind of liked them. Then I went to an Eagles / Giants game in Philly… I have no respect for that fan base. Ugly, ugly behavior.
Anyway, I would tend to root for the Cards when they played against the Giants, especially in the Gene Stallings / Stump Mitchell era. Oh yeah, and that year they went to the Super Bowl with an ex-shelf stocker was pretty special too…
So, after realignment I’ve had a soft place in my heart for the red birds. We’ve both been pretty shitty on average, but if the can ride the wave and get into the Big Dance, I will root for them.

Rams hung tough, and were winning mostly because of good defensive play, but the momentum shifted after they could not score in wake of the Ogletree INT. When Arz finally scored again with Stanton, the Rams could have gotten it back with another score. It was down to 7 minutes and at that point they still could have come back and won it. But then within a few minutes the offense gave up 1 INT, then a pick 6, then a sack-fumble-score. Those final offensive series were just one big sharknado.
Arz is a tough defense but Davis just went into high velocity “anti-comeback mode” on us.

i think the silver lining is that this team is only a legit qb from being a real contender.
so close. i thought for sure after the ogletree int that this team was going to ice the game. and then davis imploded.
November 9, 2014 at 11:11 pm #11534InvaderRamModeratoralthough i have to say i think it was on the int return for a td… britt should have caught that. maybe a little on the high side, but it hit both his hands. he’s got to pull that one in. instead it goes up in the air and peterson runs in for an easy touchdown.

vNovember 10, 2014 at 7:36 am #11543canadaramParticipantThis Rams team rmeinds me a little of the 2012 Cardinals. Enough emerging talent to compete, but the hole at QB is too massive to overcome. The Cardinals rebounded with the hiring of Arians and the acquisition of Carson Palmer. I don’t think the Rams make a change at HC , nor do I want them to. However, they need to find their Carson Palmer. Maybe Bradford ends up being that guy, but it would seem foolish for the Rams to put all of their eggs in that basket. Anyway, despite the fact that this team seems headed toward a Linehanesque type record, I do not feel nearly as hopeless about this team as I did in 2007-08.
