“Telecom companies filed a pair of lawsuits Monday in an attempt to reverse the Federal Communications Commission’s new net neutrality rules.” — National Journal, 3/23/15
Dear Zooey,
Man, that was fast.
The FCC voted only 4 weeks ago to adopt rules that protect net neutrality. And ALREADY the big telecom companies are suing to get rid of them.
They will do everything they can to reverse our victory. That’s why I need you to stand with me for net neutrality — again.
Show the telecom companies that you’re still fighting for net neutrality. Click here to sign my petition.
The companies say they’re suing so soon after the vote “out of an abundance of caution.” That’s one way to put it. Another, more accurate, way to put it would be to say that they’re suing because they don’t like net neutrality.
Net neutrality levels the playing field for businesses and protects free speech online. Net neutrality also means that telecom companies can’t charge extra for “fast lanes” — you can see why the Internet service providers don’t like it.
They can try to use the courts to roll back the progress we’ve made. But no matter what they do, we’ll be there to fight for the most important free speech issue of our time. Join me in supporting net neutrality against this latest threat.
Thanks,
Al
