Some of you may be aware that Rich (Thordaddy) was battling cancer the past year or so; and while he was optimistic that his latest treatment was successful, I’m saddened to say that he lost the war this morning.
You have to be odd, to be number one.

I am sorry to hear that. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Thanks for posting this.
May 4, 2015 at 8:44 pm #24068PA RamParticipantIndeed. Just read about it on ROD.
I posted with him a lot in the “song of the day” and we had very similar music tastes. I did not know he was ill or that he had been battling cancer for so long.
Behind these names and internet personas we are all human beings with families, friends, hopes and fears. That can be easy to forget.

May 4, 2015 at 10:57 pm #24085MackeyserModeratorVery damn sad. Was going to post about this, but wanted to wait until the post went up at ROD after I got the text from Les.
At first Thor and I got along… and then we REALLY didn’t.
Went through some EPIC battles (and I don’t mean epic in a good way). Then I realized that between my health and principles and all that, I just didn’t want to behave that way…not toward anyone. So I apologized and ended it.
Turns out he felt the same way.
Turns out he had a lot of similar stuff going on.
We’ve been communicating privately and praying for one another ever since.
I will miss being able to give him comfort and I will miss the comfort he shared with me.
I will miss my friend.

May 4, 2015 at 11:38 pm #24089Ramsey GlissadevilParticipantI haven’t posted in a while here…But Thordaddy died. Thor blazed trail to the uncharted country…Death. A trail we all must traverse. But Goddam, I hate cancer…I fucking hate cancer!
I met Thordaddy and the rest of you mighty Ram’s fans on the old Ram’s Huddle. I texted my sister Enabling Ewe, and she came over to my house balling her eyes out, Now I’m in tears, because Thor was a warrior poet, and death hurts!
Thor meant something special. Yeah, Thor was a crusty ole crab of a curmudgeon but he loved well…And well, you guys love well too, each in his own way…I appreciate all of you, and Thor’s death has reminded me that life is too short, not to get along. RIP Thordaddy!
May 5, 2015 at 7:18 am #24107wvParticipantWell, perhaps,
somewhere in the after-life,
there is a sports-bar, with big-screen tvs
tuned to a Rams channel on Sundays — Bucky is there.

May 5, 2015 at 3:29 pm #24129ZooeyModeratorRIP, Thordaddy.
May 5, 2015 at 5:20 pm #24132DakParticipantThat’s terrible to hear. I know of so many people who have fought cancer in recent years. It’s such a horrible thing. May his family and friends at least take solace in knowing he is no longer in pain.
May 5, 2015 at 9:34 pm #24164bnwBlockedI am saddened by this news. T-daddy was a thoughtful guy and I miss getting his take on all things politics and business management and coaching wrestling. He was so proud of his boys, his family and the Captain Moe. Here is a pic of T-daddy in high school that he and I had a good laugh over. (He is the guy standing.) My sincerest condolences to his loved ones. He will be missed. Happy cruising my friend.

May 8, 2015 at 4:02 pm #24308TSRFParticipantWow, still processing this…
TD and I were never “friends” where we posted. In fact, quite the opposite…
When Sandy Hook happened, and I lashed out at the gun industry, TD was there to say “take it out of my dead hands.”He was very pro gun and this just pushed my crazy button. We had lots of crazy interactions, but here we are.
I miss TD. Hopefully, we will meet again.
May 9, 2015 at 6:56 pm #24355TSRFParticipantWhat I didn’t say, was that in my darkest hour, I needed someone to be mad at, and it was him. After I had a few days to simmer down, I realized that he was the mainstream early 21 century American opinion on gun control and that I, with my utopian idea of keeping assault rifles out of the hands of lunatics was the crazy one.
Once I realized I was the irrational one, I sort of apologized, and he accepted, and we moved on. I never really apologized, and now I’ll never have the chance, at least not on this reality.
Shine on Thordaddy.
Shine on you crazy diamond…

May 12, 2015 at 7:40 pm #24480sdramParticipantI didn’t really interact with TD but for a couple of football related posts on the old huddle board. He loved the Rams. But, I knew he was fighting cancer from lurking about the ROD board a while back. Peace to his family and friends. RIP TD.
May 14, 2015 at 4:28 am #24565Eternal RamnationParticipantThis one was a struggle because the determination was if no good could be said nothing would be said. There was some good there. Most of my interaction with TD was political discussion, knock down drag out affairs you would expect from two opposite views.More times than not they would end with TD offering the olive branch of respect,”you’re not stupid” or “You’re bright” and then an offer to teach me some economics. Also noticed in these discussions that TD was a great Father to his kids, making sure they worked hard.He did in fact teach me what a wheelhouse was. When the rare discussions turned to football, specifically Rams football we were in agreement every time I can remember.
May 16, 2015 at 2:09 am #24634InvaderRamModeratorwow. i just read this. thordaddy. never had a problem with him personally but boy were there some epic battles on this forum.
sorry to hear this. sorry about the way things ended. but glad he found a home of sorts on rod.
May 20, 2015 at 10:41 am #24962wvParticipantI read on X’s old board that a poster contacted Demoff
about thordaddy and there will be some kind of acknowledgement/memorial
thing during the Seattle game. Apparently Lots of posters will be going
to that game and thinking of TD.w

vThat is an awesome idea and well deserved. Apparently they reached out to Demoff who helped get it done. Kudos to those guys that helped make it happen. I hope the Rams win.
