I don’t really care for the one year deal.

yeah. i was hoping for 3 for 30 million.

i don’t really care for a 1 year deal either.

now, the rams must draft kolton miller.

It is more than I would pay. But, at least it is only for one year. I am just not sure Suh is a good fit for the Rams.

demarcus ware was on nfl network talking about how it might work with suh on this defense. said a lot of stuff i didn’t quite understand. thinks he would alternate between 5 tech and 6 tech. while brockers would alternate between 5 tech and 0 tech.

like i said i don’t quite understand it. i know brockers played 5 tech last year. 0 tech is nose tackle.

6 technique is over the tight end apparently?

anyway. he speculates that he would provide pressure from the outside and the outside linebackers could line up inside and get pressure that way??? i think that’d be reserved for passing downs. doesn’t sound like a base defense to me.

dunno. i’m probably messing it all up. it was over my head.

This signing has no affect on getting Donald signed long term.

The #Rams are creating a nightmare for #NFL offenses after adding Ndamukong Suh

    Alden Gonzalez@Alden_Gonzalez

As Schefter reported, the Rams have signed DT Ndamukong Suh to a 1-year, $14M contract. He joins Aaron Donald, forming one of the greatest pairings of interior linemen throughout NFL history. With Talib and Peters behind them. Rams will be almost impossible to throw against.

The Rams’ defensive line would be flat-out scary if Ndamukong Suh joined it. Check out this nugget from ESPN Stats & Info: While lined up as a tackle pre-snap, Suh and Aaron Donald have combined for 42 sacks over the last four seasons. The most by two teammates right now? 38, by Donald and the Rams’ other down lineman, Michael Brockers.

    And away we go…

    Ryan Kartje@Ryan_Kartje
Ndamukong Suh has been a polarizing player for the majority of his career. Curious to see how L.A. takes to him this year. He’s not exactly known for his love of media attention.

He’ll team up with Aaron Donald to create one of the strongest interior defensive pairs in NFL history. What a world.

    Ben Volin@BenVolin
I’m told Ndomukong Suh had dinner with Rams owner Stan Kroenke on Friday night. Suh’s top motivation for finding a new home: “All he wants is not to be double teamed.” He should get his wish playing next to Aaron Donald

The #Rams now have seven former first-round picks on their defense

    Jason La Canfora@JasonLaCanfora
The Rams have become the rare fantasy football defensive squad. If they can coral all of these personalities they’ll be dominant

    Chris Mortensen@mortreport
Rams opposing offensive coordinators and quarterbacks in 2018 just got their hearts rate up.

    Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
Among the things Ndamukong Suh liked about the #Rams: Fewer double teams with a loaded defense… and owner Stan Kroenke. Suh admires his business acumen, similar to how he viewed Stephen Ross.

For the #Rams and Ndamukong Suh, the deal is the same one they offered him a week ago. \

Good luck, NFC West offensive lines.

In 14 months, Rams have turned from perhaps NFL’s biggest afterthought to the most compelling team in league. SHOWTIME

We have great stuff coming on Tuesday morning’s pod from Les Snead and @KaraHenderson (who killed it) on the verrryy L.A. recruitment of Suh.

They will get a comp pick next year though.

    so that makes it.

    brockers suh donald

    ebukam littleton barron ???

    peters joyner johnson talib

maybe they sign barwin back? or have they already? but i like the look of that defense already. i know suh isn’t the ideal fit at nose tackle. but i think he can make it work enough on run defense. and that pass rush. ON PAPER. looks unreal. they’re going to occupy lots of blockers those three. and phillips i think has said is willing to sacrifice some there if it means getting to the qb.

and besides. suh graded out very well in run defense last year. pff gave him a 91 in run defense.

almost definitely they draft an outside linebacker but don’t know which round.

i want miller in the first round. let him learn under whitworth. i don’t think they should draft linebacker in the first round anymore. i don’t pass up the chance to draft a left tackle with his physical abilities cuz who knows when the next chance will be.

and this draft has plenty of outside linebackers to choose from. if there’s no left tackle they like, then trade down.

Looking ahead here, I wonder if signing Ndamukong Suh puts more pressure on the Rams to get a deal done with Aaron Donald this offseason. Donald might be happy to have Suh join him, but he probably wouldn’t be thrilled with another player at the same position making twice as much (Donald will make less than $7M this season, and Suh, per Adam Schefter, will make $14M). Rams could face another long holdout from Donald if they don’t step up.

Yeah, 3 years/$30 million is more or less what I was hoping for, too.

I don’t love this, but I’m not running the cap, so I’m going to forget about it and just be happy to watch the show.

And a Show it will be, for better or worse.

expectations are so high at this point…

just making the playoffs would be a letdown at this point.

now all eyes focus on goff…. i think he’ll be alright.

    Don’t worry.

Doesn’t matter how you feel about it now.

It matters how you feel about it in January.

I am excited to watch this defense. Invader, I also think the Rams should draft a LOT in the first round and look for linebackers later in the draft.

that’s what i would do. plus, the offense has been a little neglected.

they also need a big red zone target. maybe marcedes lewis in free agency?

if they can draft left tackle in the first round. then you take an edge rusher with the third.

guys who could be available are ogbonnia okoronkwo, lorenzo carter, dorance armstrong, josh sweat, kemoko turay…

or they could go tight end… i wouldn’t mind tight end actually. after all the time spent fixing the dline and secondary. the rams could really use an upgrade at that position. probably the biggest weakness on offense is tight end.

and then you have 2 fourth rounders.

i’m curious as to how they approach the draft. several different ways they could go.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about watching Suh and Donald together and the havoc they create.

But I want to see all of this work before I buy into it.

    Offenses always adjust.

Maybe they find a way to run the ball to the outside or run screens or move the quarterback around or whatever.

    They always adjust.

That said–it will be tough on offenses against the Rams.

I’ll have to buy the NFL Game Pass again this year. My level of excitement for the season is off the charts.

I’m just hoping that I don’t have crushing disappointment.

    That would suck.

I can see a lot of roll to right or left against the Rams. I just can’t imagine Suh, Donald, and Brockers together. Just can’t wait to see it.

yeah. they need to find some edge defenders. right now it’s a second year unknown and a complete unknown…

    makes me nervous.

if. and only if a guy like marcus davenport fell to them at #23, would i take an edge rusher.

he’s a bigger guy. had sack production. but also lots of tfls which tells me he’s pretty good in run support. although he did all that playing for a smaller school. still. he’s got size and power and speed. his agility drills are not the best. but he’s got length and power and speed.
