Steven Jackson has reached the end of the road in Atlanta.
The Falcons announced late Thursday they’ve released the veteran running back after two seasons with the team. The move saves Atlanta $3.75 million in cap space, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Jackson, 31, signed with the Falcons prior to the 2013 season, looking to revitalize his career after a nine-season run with the St. Louis Rams. The change in scenery didn’t produce the desired effect. In two seasons, Jackson had 347 carries for 1,250 yards (3.6 yards per carry) and 12 touchdowns.
