“More than 60,000 Americans have died from gun violence since 12/14.”

Can this really be true?? Less than 2 years since 20 first graders and 6 adult teachers and administrators were slaughtered in my town, can over 60 thousand of our fellow Americans have been gunned down in our streets? This is so fucking wrong, and NOBODY went out and voted!! WTF?? This has got to stop. The fucking gun lobby needs to be shut the fuck up.

In Response To Petition, Jay Leno Cancels Appearance At Gun Industry Trade Show
    Thursday, November 20, 2014

Three gun violence prevention groups are applauding comedian Jay Leno for his decision to cancel an appearance at The 2015 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), an annual event sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

Newtown Action Alliance, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and Campaign to Unload announced Wednesday, November 19, comedian Jay Leno’s decision to cancel his appearance at the 2015 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), an annual event sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the gun industry. Mr Leno’s cancellation came just hours after the three gun violence prevention groups had launched a petition Wednesday morning, calling on him to take this action.

Mr Leno called Po Murray, chairman of Newtown Action Alliance (NAA), to inform her of the cancellation. He said he was unaware that NSSF was a pro-gun lobbying group based in Newtown, the site of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.

Leno told Mother Jones magazine in separate remarks, “I understand it’s Newtown, and of course I get it. It’s just, sometimes, mistakes get made.”

Ms Murray was pleased with Mr Leno’s decision.

“I’m not at all surprised that Jay didn’t understand that the NSSF is part of the gun lobby,” said Ms Murray. “Before the Sandy Hook shootings, I had no idea they existed, and they’re right here in my community. I am thrilled that Jay changed his mind once he had full information. It is so appreciated by those of us in Newtown.”

Jennifer Fiore, the executive director of the Campaign to Unload, added, “I’m grateful that Jay has seen the NSSF for what it really is: a corporate lobbying group that puts money over morality, no matter how many families are destroyed by its products.”

Josh Horwitz, the executive director of The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) said his group was “sincerely grateful to Mr Leno for making this decision so quickly after it was brought to his attention.

“It shows that he cares about all the Americans whose lives have been turned upside down by gun violence. And that speaks to the man’s character,” Mr Horwitz added.

More than 60,000 Americans have died from gun violence since 12/14.

NAA is an action-based grassroots organization founded by Newtown residents in the weeks after 12/14. The organization is dedicated to reversing the escalating gun violence epidemic in the United States nation through the introduction of smarter, safer gun laws, and broader cultural change.

The Campaign to Unload is a national coalition of 50 leaders and organizations representing over 20 million Americans calling for divestiture from the gun industry.

CSGV seeks to secure freedom from gun violence through research, strategic engagement, and effective policy advocacy.

Twice as many kids are killed by guns than by cancer — and, according to recent federal health data, the number of children dying from gun violence continues to rise.
