wvParticipantOn Jake. The Wiki ‘narrative’ is that he beat out Massey. But we all know Massey ascended into The Halls of Valhalla.
Wiki “…St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams
McQuaide was signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams after the 2011 NFL draft on July 29. As a rookie, he beat Chris Massey for the long snapper job.[3]…”Just since 2022, Jake has played for,
Dallas,
Detroit,
Chicago,
Minnesota,
Miami,
Pittsburgh,
and now with the Rams again.November 6, 2025 at 10:20 am #159126

We talked with Chase Blackburn:– The Rams took Josh Karty off kickoffs to get him to focus more on field goals. Seems to be differing opinions on whether the knuckleball approach has affected him
– Issues were protection early, now operational
– Kicker battle should close todayI asked Blackburn what gives him confidence the Rams can fix the field goal unit after 8 games and a number of issues:
“Practice. Practice. What we do, how we implement it, how they perform out here can breed confidence. Obviously, we’ve got to do it in a game.”
A couple of the issues: Alex Ward acknowledged he’s missed some snaps by having the laces in, and Josh Karty said he has to get a better trajectory on his kicks to get it over the line.
The Rams will have a new snapper on Sunday. We’ll see if it’s a new kicker, too.

znModeratorKarty may be a little slow, but the right side of the line is going 4 against 6. Why? And the RT ends up being useless, just sticking out his arm. It’s also interesting to watch the lack of effort on both sides of the ball on the left side. pic.twitter.com/MRD1pCSbnt

wvParticipantI looked up Chase Blackburn on wiki. He’s not exactly the most experienced coach in the NFL.
If they dont get things fixed, i would guess McVay will not bring him back.

Now watch it get worse.

canadaramParticipantI always assumed that the Rams would change one variable in an attempt to fix the kicking game, and I always assumed that Karty wasn’t the issue. It looked like the right side of the line was breaking down in some of those misses. I also thought that maybe Alex Ward snaps might be a fraction of a second too slow for the NFL, giving defenders the extra time they need to disrupt the kicking game. Ward also wasn’t much help in getting in the way of Jordan Davis in the Eagles game. Anyway, changing two variables wasn’t what I expected to happen. I like Karty, I assumed that he was a long term solution to the problems of 2023, it wouldn’t surprise me if he catches on somewhere else and ends up having a long career.
Let’s go Mevis.

Sean McVay has already said Joshua Karty is “not going anywhere” and “he’ll be on the roster” despite being benched. The Rams can only elevate Harrison Mevis from the PS for 2 more games. After that, they have to make a decision.

Strange case. I wonder what happened to him ?
