“Well, this is certainly a first – for me to post two new threads in the SSF in the same day (or month, or year) but this whole thing has me doubting what I have believed for over 50 years.I love our team, the guys, what they do for the community. I love what they appear to stand for. I love my fellow fans.
But is it all in vain? Is the stress and strain of unrequited outrage really a good thing? Is the product just that, a product subject to the whims of the stockholders and leadership? A sham designed to print money but whose recent faux pass’ have shead light on the people behind the curtain having an interest in only one thing?
Lord knows it would be hard but I am ready to throw in the towel on the NFL. Is that wrong?”

“Today my question is the same.
How long has all this been influenced by the front office directly?
My gut says 2009 is a sham, everything in the Goodell era is a sham or at least attempted influence that occasionally failed to achieve the desired result.Clinging to the last tendrils of faint hope that an acceptable resolution will occur but i know in my heart that will never happen and I must reconcile myself to life without the Saints.”

“I love the saints more than anything. I have probably spent half a million dollars over the last 30 years on traveling to games. I used to say I had no regrets. Now I do because the nfl will never give us a fair shake.I already lost a good female friend this weekend because she told me to calm down because it was just a game. Any idiot that says that doesn’t realize what being a saints fan is all about. I am proud to be a saints fan since it is about family, integrity, loyalty, perseverance, and flat out passion.
I simply can’t support the nfl any longer. The maggot screwed us in bountygate and ever since. Cam Jordan was right. We’re used to getting bad officiating but this was a whole new level. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS GAME WAS RIGGED from the get go to get an LA team in the SB.”

“I might have to take a step back and watch Saints games the way I watch two other teams play each other. Just sit back and hope for some good football and a good close game (entertainment). I just don’t know if I can get as into it anymore. Probably once July comes around. I need a break.”

Exactly I will never quit following the Saints fan and following them as always. It would be cheating myself and throwing all of the joy and heartache away for nothing . The NFL as a whole won’t win in that way with me personally. What does change is the fact that I will no longer spend money on NFL products. I will tell my family not to buy me any gift that helps them I have tons of Saints stuff it’s a tradition to get something every year. I am dropping the Sunday ticket I live on a super fixed income from SSDI and 300.00 is a huge chunk. There are streaming options anyways(should have done that awhile ago). I think we will get enough primetime games also.
I have stopped watching pre game shows years ago and I don’t watch football from morning till night on Sunday’s. I will balance my time which is becoming more valuable as time goes on Sunday’s. Lastly bring my stress level down it’s not worth it anymore. Overall the game isn’t as fun as it once was the evolution is not one of forwardness it’s gone just the opposite way.”

“I’m done with NFL football. I was almost there before the start of this season for exactly the reason we are all so disgusted now. I couldn’t stay away from my Saints once the season started. I have been a continuous Saints fan since the early 80’s. I really hope I can hold onto that conviction because it IS RIGGED. The flip side is it’s so much fun to be a part of. I hate Goodell and what he has done to the NFL.
Hmmm, Goodell fired and rules changes to allow PI to be reviewed would probably restore some of my faith especially if the games are not “officiated” to be determined in last 4 minutes.”——

I think your female friend might be on to something.
Saints fans have every reason to be bitter. There was the Minneapolis Miracle one year, followed by last year’s bitter defeat.
So I understand they wanted to exorcise all those demons yesterday in magnificent fashion, and I get that the blown call hurt.
But the Rams beat the shit out of the Saints yesterday, and that’s the truth. So those fans will get over it, and they’ll be back. Especially after they march into Seattle next week and beat Nittany’s favorite team back to the Stone Age.
September 16, 2019 at 9:15 pm #105189Eternal RamnationParticipantI’ve watched that blown call play many times and I think it should have been a personal foul on Davenport Rams’ ball 1st and goal. Forearm shot hit Goff in the head and upper chest and ribs . I looked it up and yes it’s a loss of 15 yards penalty but because his Jersey doesn’t say Brady or Rodgers nobody says a word.
