Les Snead: We couldn’t pass up on Todd Gurley
Les Snead explains why the team chose to select Todd Gurley, what the plan is for getting him on the field and what went behind the decision to draft Sean Mannion
May 3, 2015 at 7:06 pm #23899InvaderRamModeratori’m so happy they picked gurley.
i mean i still like mason. but a mason gurley combo is unreal to me.
May 3, 2015 at 7:12 pm #23902MackeyserModeratorWith so many teams set up to defend the pass, teams often struggle to deal with a beefy run game.
Look at how teams struggle to defend Seattle’s O.
Well, if we essentially look to do it better by having a better OL, a back with the potential to be better than Lynch and a better passing QB than Wilson with better weapons than Seattle has, then we have the potential to be ridiculously scary as a team. Just flat out horrific to other teams because we’re going to be a 4th quarter nightmare to defend.
It’s not just Gurley, but also Foles.
If Foles is Faulk, then Gurley is Holt.
I just got a feeling that some alchemy is brewing this year… and having Mason with his ability to make people miss… man, we’re going to give teams fits.
Sports is the crucible of human virtue. The distillate remains are human vice.

You must be feeling a lot better because I see your meds are really kicking in, Mack.
I’m not sure the Rams’ OL is even adequate yet, Gurley may not play half the year, and expecting him to be better than Lynch when he does is optimistic, and Foles is a better QB than Wilson only in a few of the more remote alternate universes, and in none of them is he the impact player Faulk is.
I must admit, though, that I am looking forward to the season a lot more now than I was two weeks ago.

Yes, and he also said he expects “maybe two of the four
rookie OLinemen to make a run at starting…”Snead dropped an Interesting little aside about Foles
at the end.w
vMay 5, 2015 at 7:20 pm #24148znModeratorSnead dropped an Interesting little aside about Foles
at the end.I’m not sure that was about Foles so much. It seemed to be more about the new league rules limiting practice time and the amount of time coaches can work with players.
May 5, 2015 at 11:42 pm #24172InvaderRamModeratori think the key is a top 5 rushing offense. if the rams can do that, then we see something closer to the 2013 foles than the 2014 version.
and then yeah. i’m thinking playoffs… maybe not anything like 1999. but yeah. playoffs.
in order for that to happen, the oline has to be fixed, gurley has to be healthy, and gurley has to live up to the hype.
should be exciting.
May 5, 2015 at 11:46 pm #24173InvaderRamModeratoralso need to see if bailey and austin can make some strides. does greg robinson make strides. can brian quick come back healthy.
so many things need to happen… but the potential is there. i don’t think it was before.
