I think some of the older or beat up guys should certainly rest. And if he plays Gurley or some others I’d certainly pull them by halftime.

    I say beat the 49ers with back-ups.

pittsburgh game is nearly over, and gurley will most likely enter the final week as the leading rusher in the nfl as well as the leader in yards from scrimmage.

the only reason i would want to see gurley play is to see him get a chance at the rushing title and possibly the mvp award. but there are bigger things at stake. i’d rather they sit him the entire game.

the other offensive starters i’d play for a half. get goff some experience without gurley to lean on.

rest all the main defensive stars. especially a guy like quinn. and again, only bench players in the second half.

Saints need to win to win the division. If they beat the Buccaneers, then it counts do we want the 3rd or 4th seed? If we win, we get to the 3rd seed, and if we can get by, and upset the Vikings, and if the Saints-Panthers winner upsets the Eagles, then the NFC title game is in the LA Coliseum. Just saying.

I think that’s the sensible thing to do, too.

    It’s going to be a shoot-out.

You start the #2s and you’re conceding the game.

    Maybe you’re okay with that.

I’m not heartbroken over the idea, myself.

Seems to me that having the starters in the best shape possible for the playoff run is more important than the first round opponent.

Seattle might be more of a “sure victory” than anyone from the South, but they should beat anyone from the South, too. And if they don’t…oh, well. They weren’t going to get passed the following week anyway, in all likelihood. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Minnesota, and if the Rams can’t beat the Saints, Panthers, or Falcons at home, they weren’t going to beat the Vikings in Minnesota anyway.

Thing is, though, “resting the starters” really means resting Gurley. You can’t pull the entire OL. You can’t pull Quinn, Donald, and Brockers. There aren’t enough backups to play every snap. WRs aren’t worth pulling because they get hit 4 times a game anyway. So pull Gurley and Goff, and rotate the DL more heavily in favor of Fox and Westbrooks etc., but you can’t “pull the starters.” Not really. You can pull the “stars.”

I want a smack down in the first half. Then take the starters our. Whether or not we win is not important; the fat that we beat them down in the 1st half will set the tone for next year (when the 9ers may be our toughest division rival).

Niner fans are absolutely going bonkers over Garoppolo. So they’re looking at Sunday’s game as their own little Super Bowl and as a measuring stick of the teams progress.

    Seen it before.

I really can’t see Gurley playing more than a half at most. He’s too valuable. Same with Donald. And I do see the backups in there by the 4th. It’s a meaningless game, although as a Ram fan I want them the beat SF like a drum.

    Okay.

So the consensus is that the Rams should beat down the 49ers, and nobody on the Rams should get hurt.

    I think that’s what I’m hearing.

i wouldn’t play gurley at all. it’ll be like a bye week for him. he won’t be rusty. if anything, he’ll be fresher coming off the bye.

use brown and austin. leave the other starters in.

on defense i’d rest at least quinn. at the very least.
