Well then I blame Fisher
for not using the no.4 QB.That’s next week. Keenan will start with Gilbert as back-up as the Rams bring two more guys in to learn the system.
Soon the practice squad will consist of 10 QBs.
Opponents won’t know who to prepare for. It’s brilliant really.

outside of hill they have nothing now. that’s a scary thought.
i see the offensive line improving. the running backs and wide receivers are in good shape. but they need a qb. long-term.

At this point, I’d be willing to watch
Tim Tebow in horns. If nothing else
they might gain some rushing yards.w

September 7, 2014 at 9:23 pm #6572snowmanParticipantI don’t know when Hill got hurt but he did almost nothing from the start of the game. To be fair to him, he never had a chance because the OL was terrible. It was Bulger-era terrible. If Bradford had started this game, he would have been carted off before the fourth quarter.
This is going to sound mean, but I will not miss Saffold. Tired of him playing hurt and missing games. Put in somebody who at least stays on the field.
September 7, 2014 at 10:54 pm #6578MackeyserModeratorWell, so here’s a question… what if the MRI comes back and the Quad injury means Hill is out for 4-6 weeks?
It’s one thing to say, “well, it was because of Davis…we looked good with Hill…” and I buy that…kinda. I can sorta buy that the Rams can get right with Hill…maybe.
But how do the Rams get right if Hill is out for a few games?
Start Keenum?
I honestly don’t know the answer to this, but it sure isn’t an extra dose of Austin Davis…

September 8, 2014 at 2:16 am #6606znModeratorFrom Joe Lyons, Davis sees first NFL action after Hill leaves with thigh injury
Just some quotations stressing what I think the major issue was this game, in the 1st half anyway (mistakes)…the 2nd half, the major issue was playing qb 3 in game 1
*
“Way too many mistakes,’’ tackle Joe Barksdale said. “I don’t know how many penalties we had (13 for 121 yards compared to seven for 60 yards for the Vikings), but it was clearly too many. We just have a lot of things that need to be fixed. We have to be better.’’
*
Center Scott Wells added: “You can’t play this game going two steps forward and one step back. We just shot ourselves way too often.’’
*
“It’s very disappointing. We certainly didn’t see it going like this,’’ Hill said. “We had some opportunities early and moved the football but (what hurt us) was self-inflicted wounds. We hurt ourselves with some penalties and backed ourselves up. And obviously, the turnover at the end of the half, I’d like to have that one back and go into halftime with a one-score game. That one there is on me, for sure.’’
*
Davis said he learned before halftime that he would be starting the second half. . . .“We’re a better team, a much better team, than we showed today, (but) we made too many mistakes. We just didn’t execute when we needed to.”
September 8, 2014 at 7:38 am #6609GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantwas the offensive pass interference calls on the Rams receivers. Pushing off if you will. To me those calls were bullshit.
When I have seen the Anquan Boldins and others get away with the same damn thing year after year and it figures Ed Hochuli’s crew would be the ones to do this crap. His crew and he personally have to be worst in the league. Always the weird shit with Ed. Especially for the Rams. The facemask call on Brian Quick was pure crap. ITS CALLED A FUCKING STRAIT ARM YOU MORONS!. I saw the exact same thing in the Seattle vs Green Bay game last Thursday and NOTHING WAS CALLED. Geez!Only Ed Hochuli.

September 8, 2014 at 7:45 am #6613PA RamParticipantThe holding on Quinn that’s almost never called gets me too.
They have to practically tackle him for it to count.

September 8, 2014 at 8:01 am #6618GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantAgreed. I thought the Rams were hurt every time a big catch was made in the 1st half Hochuli’s crew fucked them over with one of those Offensive PI calls. Its bullshit. I have never seen that before where every big catch was like that. Its like they were focused on it and looking for it.

September 8, 2014 at 10:51 am #6632Eternal RamnationParticipantThe way Fisher threw Quick under the bus points to a meltdown.A meltdown is warranted. The vaunted Greg Williams D is strangely absent. Davis is better than Cassel in many categories, mobility and arm strength being the major advantages .With Cassel not being able to throw past 20yds Williams got his ass kicked in checkers he’s not ready for chess.Personally if I’m the boss Fisher is in my office being told he may have 3 losses this year so he has 2 left. After we lose to Dallas play the rookies trade or cut the vets and get this thing started for real this time

September 8, 2014 at 11:27 am #6635znModeratorThe way Fisher threw Quick under the bus p
I’m not sure what that refers to. Since game 1 in 2012, Fisher has been openly critical of players who need to fix something or step up. I remember last year when he was discussing run defense, he went on for a minute or so about how Langford was playing out of position. Oh and btw, in the wake of that, the Rams run defense DID get fixed. When he does that I just see him as being a teacher type. So I don’t see him rightfully criticizing a player for an error as a “meltdown.” It’s just the way he has always been. This goes back years in Tennessee.
I don’t see any owner delivering an ultimatum like that, btw.
September 8, 2014 at 12:00 pm #6638Eternal RamnationParticipantWhen listing the problems that caused yesterday Quick’s wardrobe malfunction belongs on the last of 20 pages in fine print. The headlines should be Fisher Shotty and Williams. The run D if fixed why does it need fixing again?2012?2013? Now this.Yes it got fixed last year after a losing season was a certainty which doesn’t in reality fix this miserable team only prolongs the agony .Yes you are correct I don’t see an owner doing that and I also won’t see this owner hoisting a Lombardi
September 8, 2014 at 5:47 pm #6654GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI believe the LA Rams from 1958 until George Allen arrived in 1966 had seven losing seasons.

September 10, 2014 at 7:43 am #6799DakParticipantYou know, I didn’t get to post on here with my initial thoughts after the game. I thought that the Rams basically killed themselves with penalties and other mistakes. Just sloppy. That sucks. Shouldn’t happen in the first game. But, it’s something they can improve on.
E.J. Gaines may be a steal.
Quick looks for real. Britt will get his deep balls (that’s what she said), if we don’t have to rely on 3rd string QBs.
Tavon Austin didn’t get loose because of the circumstances. I wasn’t crazy about running him off tackle, but I’m not going to kill Schotty for it. He tried something different, and it didn’t work. It would have been different if the Rams were going along swimmingly and the Tavon off-tackle play derailed them.
Aaron Donald popped into the backfield a few times, just like his college highlight reel. He’s going to be special.
The Rams’ pass rush was great. But, the Vikings expertly countered it. Teams will have to game plan against this D-line’s pass rush, especially in the Ed. If the secondary can learn to take advantage of that, this D will be dominant at times.
And, the same old story, until the Rams can prove they can throw the ball downfield consistently, teams will concentrate on shutting down the running game. I thought that Hill did an OK job (without penalties, he would have been fine). But, if we have to rely on Austin Davis, this team’s going to lose without a lot of help from the defense.
September 10, 2014 at 7:44 am #6800DakParticipantOne more thing: The O-line was subpar, almost shockingly so against an average Vikings defense at home. That HAS to change.
September 11, 2014 at 2:15 am #6912Eternal RamnationParticipantI can’t stand the guy. It’s almost like he’s happy about recent events.I took some advice from Steve Savard who is a lot brighter than I gave him credit for. He said go back and watch it again. This time with no unrealistic expectations it didn’t look near as bad. There is some good stuff there. I didn’t mind Shotty’s play calling but the design of the TA plays still bother me.Both Gaines and Donald are going to be good to great.TJ is looking good.Quick is on his way. Hill was trying to get rid of the ball and didn’t have the legs to get it there.Up until that point he was doing good. The D held AP in check and how do you practice for stopping Patterson? Obviously you have to wrap up and hold on your not going to throw him down with arm tackles but the dude is a freakish runner who will continue to scorch many teams this year.

I agree with you for the most part. The Rams were in the game as long as Hill was under center. My only caveat is that it shouldn’t have been a “tough close game”. The Rams should have dominated a team like the Vikings at home. They shouldn’t have struggled against the Vikings while Hill was in the game if they are truly improving under Snisher. I think that is a valid criticism,
But I certainly don’t buy into Bernie’s reactionary, over-the-top Chicken Little act.
