Rams RG Kevin Dotson and LG Steve Avila both are “week to week” with ankle sprains, Sean McVay says. Both will be evaluated later this week and are possibilities to play vs. Titans.

from NFL power rankings roundup: Where are the Rams after Week 1?: https://theramswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/rams/2025/09/09/nfl-power-rankings-where-are-the-rams-after-week-1/86057151007/?taid=68c04cda55530a000116e2e7&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter

    USA Today: No. 5

Week 1 win is great, though it’s more important that QB Matthew Stafford survived it … especially given he’s now on an early pace to endure 51 sacks this season.

    Sports Illustrated: No. 10

Beating the Texans with Matthew Stafford taking three sacks amid a back injury and none of the Rams backs having an explosive rush (10 yards or more) is a testament to the depth of this defense and the problems it can cause.

    CBS Sports: No. 13

The defense impressed in the victory over the Texans. The offense didn’t do a lot, but Matt Stafford started and finished the game with his bad back, which was a good thing.

    The Athletic: No. 7

The Rams signed Landman, a linebacker, to a veteran minimum contract this summer. Then he played like one of the best linebackers in the NFL on Sunday. The Rams keep finding hidden gems, and Landman may be next as part of a defense that looked legit against C.J. Stroud and the Texans.

    ESPN: No. 7

The Rams’ free agent signing provided a game-changing play late in the fourth quarter. In a one-score game, Landman punched the ball out from Texans running back Dare Ogunbowale. Landman was voted a team captain and wears the green dot as the team’s defensive signal-caller.

    Yahoo Sports: No. 12

Nate Landman is already a fan favorite after one game. The linebacker had 10 tackles and a massive forced fumble in the final two minutes to seal the win. The Rams got Landman on a one-year, $1.1 million deal, which might end up being the best value in the NFL this season.

    FOX Sports: No. 13

I am still concerned about Matthew Stafford being 37 with a bad back, but he was good on Sunday (21 of 29, 245 yards, 1 TD) and the Rams have plenty of offensive weapons. Their defense looked great, too. I just wish the Rams had scored more than 14 points. They used to be explosive.

    The Sporting News: No. 9

The Rams didn’t get many style points at home against the Texans with their offense not producing much despite some OK stats and their defense coming through via sacks and turnovers. But they still keep playing strong situational winning football with Sean McVay.

    NFL.com: No. 10

Let’s start with the really good: The Rams’ defense held the Texans to 265 yards, 4.6 yards per play, three field goals and zero points after halftime. They forced two Houston turnovers — a brilliant INT by Cobie Durant and an insane punchout by Nate Landman in the closing minutes, with the Texans threatening to take the lead. Houston hurt itself with penalties, putting the team in a lot of long-yardage situations, but the Rams took care of business. In fact, Los Angeles’ offense was a little crisper than Houston’s. This was no presumption, considering Matthew Stafford’s back issues and the fact that Puka Nacua required stitches above his right eye early in the game. Puka returned to slice up Houston for several big catches. Given their slow starts the past two seasons, the Rams will gladly celebrate this victory.

    Bleacher Report: No. 7

There’s isn’t a ton to take away from the Rams’ Week 1 win over Houston. Wide receiver Puka Nacua had a big game, and the front seven gave C.J. Stroud fits much of the game.

In many respects, though, it was a preseason contest that counts.

However, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford did something that only nine other NFL players have: In the fourth quarter, he surpassed 60,000 passing yards for his career.

By year’s end, the 37-year-old could also become just the ninth quarterback in league history with 400 career touchdowns.

So long as Stafford is healthy, the Rams are the NFC West’s best team.

    The Ringer: No. 6

Quarterback Matthew Stafford was sacked or knocked down on one out every five dropbacks against the Texans on Sunday. I held my breath every time he hit the turf. But Stafford picked himself up and continued to push the ball deep downfield, aggressively looking for the holes in Houston’s zone coverage. The Rams offense repeatedly stalled out in the red zone and put Stafford in some tough third-down situations, but this Week 1 performance was a reminder of how good Stafford is when he’s healthy.

These 4 Titans need to get healthy before it derails their 2025 season
The Tennessee Titans can’t afford injuries to these 4 players

“…Right tackle JC Latham suffered a hip injury at practice a few weeks ago. The Titans claimed it was a non-issue. Well, it was an issue, because Latham re-aggrevated the hip injury and was forced to exit the contest. Oli Udoh was truly abysmal in his place, and the Titans’ offensive line could be totally derailed if the sophomore blocker is forced to miss time…”

@FezzikSports with an interesting fact going into Week 2:
“If you start the NFL year 0-1 and you’re playing a team that’s fat and happy 1-0, if you did nothing but bet the 0-1 team going back 20 years you’re 54-40 against the spread.”

Titans rank last in 3rd-down offense so far, Rams defense is 2nd-best

Adding to the Titans’ offensive struggles last week, they were abysmal on third down. They went 2-for-14 on third down, a conversion rate of 14.3% – 7.9% worse than every other team in the NFL.

The Rams’ third-down defense was one of the best in the league in Week 1, allowing the Texans to convert just 2 of 9 attempts in the season opener. If the Rams can dominate on third down again, the Titans won’t go anywhere offensively.

Rams Kick Off Key Preparation For Week 2
The Los Angeles Rams returned to practice on Wednesday as they prepare to take on the Titans in Tennessee

    Brock Vierra

    https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/los-angeles-alaric-jackson-kevin-dotson-matthew-stafford-tennessee-titans

WOODLAND HILLS, Ca. The Los Angeles Rams took the practice field on Wednesday as they move forward in the season, looking to pick up a second straight win over the AFC South when they take on the Tennessee Titans. Here’s the latest.

    Matthew Stafford

Stafford looks good, feels good, and is throwing good. No issues to report on the Rams’ star quarterback.

    Alaric Jackson

Jackson was another full participant. This marks his fifth straight practice and considering he played every offensive snap and was not listed on the injury report, there’s else nothing to report on the star tackle.

    Beaux Limmer

Both Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson did not practice as they deal with injury issues. Their game status is unknown as since the Rams established Limmer as that swing interior lineman on Sunday, we got a better look at him.

I think Limmer is much more comfortable as a guard, not having to take care of the football because he looked confident and stout during drills on Wednesday. While he won’t face full frontal contact again until gameday, outside of what happens in practice, mentally, it appears he’s ready for whenever he’s called upon. His development appears to be at the very least, on schedule.

    The Defensive Line

Both Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske looked fast and explosive. After what we saw last Sunday, with Chris Shula flexing Fiske more towards the EDGE, the fact that Turner is also bringing the speed gives Shula yet another piece to create more unique looks on defense. Titans quarterback Cam Ward is playing his second game so mixing things up would be to their advantage.

Tyler Davis is an emerging talent who built upon the solid work he put in during training camp and preseason to be a strong rotation piece that secured a sack on Sunday. Davis looks strong with fast hands, hitting pressure points with violent accuracy. He’s another player who appears ahead of schedule.

    The Pass Catchers

Everything appears in order but what I really enjoyed seeing was Stafford uncorking the deep pass to Tutu Atwell. There’s potential there that has remained untapped and while the throw was against air, the ball hit Atwell’s hands with Atwell in stride.

That TV map sucks for the 2nd week in a row.

I guess the 49ers don’t want the Rams game to be televised at the same time (as their SF @ NO game)in the SF bay area.

Thus, we get the low game on the totem pole from CBS….. Carolina at Arizona….in the afternoon… that’s fucking ridiculous…

Rams lead the series 8 to 6.
Titans have won 3 of the last 4.

I’m concerned the Rams will ‘think they are still playing Tony Dorsett.’

I’m 100 miles east of the Bay Area, and they are giving us the Rams game, even though this is ostensibly 49er territory.

I don’t get it. CAR vs AZ will not draw as many viewers as the Rams would. I think it’s safe to say that there are more Rams fans in your area than CAR and AZ put together. To say nothing of the fact that the Rams are a hated rival of SF, and would draw more interest on that account alone, never mind the fan base of the Rams.

“…-Callahan said he loved coaching Matthew Stafford while in Detroit. “He is like the quintessential quarterback,” Callahan said. “If you could build one, they look like Matthew. Awesome human being to be around, great with his teammates. He’s probably one of the toughest players I’ve ever been around and he is extremely talented on top of it I had a lot of joy coaching him for those two years.”…

Titans, Jeffery Simmons must take advantage of potential Rams IOL injuries

The Titans must exploit this mismatch opportunity versus the Rams in Week 2
    https://www.musiccitymiracles.com/tennessee-titans-news/61537/titans-jeffery-simmons-must-take-advantage-of-potential-rams-iol-injuries

“…If the Titans are going to upset the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and avoid the ever-dreaded 0-2 start, they’ll need Simmons to be dominant. Remember Simmons’ three-sack display on Sunday Night Football versus the Rams during the 2021 campaign? A repeat showing would be welcome.

Luckily for Simmons and the Titans, the Rams are dealing with a pair of eyebrow-raising injuries. Both starting guards Kevin Dotson and Steve Avila exited Sunday’s Week 1 opener with injuries. Dotson is one of the better guards in football, and Avila is an ascending blocker who’s getting better…

With both Jeffery Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat on the field last season (309 run plays), the #Titans defense allowed 4.3 yards per carry, which would rank as the 10th-fewest among all teams. With one of Sweat or Simmons (96 run plays), the Titans allowed 4.7 yards per carry (6th-most); this jumps to 5.2 yards per carry with neither Sweat or Simmons on the field (98 run plays), which would be the highest mark in the league.
