Yikes, Ahkello has a 12-week recovery timeline for his broken clavicle. Rams do have ~$12.5M in cap space if they’re interested in making a trade/taking on a contract.

    Nate Atkins@NateAtkins_
Ahkello Witherspoon shouldn’t need surgery to fix his broken clavicle, per Sean McVay.

The Rams placed their top outside cornerback on Injured Reserve today.

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Asked Sean McVay about internal vs. external options filling the void with Witherspoon on IR, and he said the Rams will “bring somebody in” but didn’t elaborate further.

In addition to not expecting surgery being needed, McVay indicated CB Ahkello Witherspoon’s broken clavicle is not season-ending, but that return would be later in the year.

Braden Fiske tweaked his oblique during warmups in Nashville, which led to his decreased snap count. Sean McVay said the Rams will monitor that injury this week.

    Per Sean McVay:

Ahkello Witherspoon appears not to need surgery

Steve Avila is trending towards returning this week

Braden Fiske had a twisted oblique that limited his snaps

Jordan Whittington has a sore groin

Colby Parkinson is working towards his return

since joining the rams as hc in 2017, mcvay is .500 or better against 24 teams and has a losing record against just 7.

one of those tough-out teams is eagles, he’s just 1-5 against them, with the only win coming in 2020, a 37-19 road trouncing in philly… beat the eagles!

I can see Avila playing vs Eagles. Going to be a challenge for Shelton.

    Rams are 2-0 against 2 0-2 teams.

Eagles are 2-0 against 2 teams that are 1-3 combined.

So we’ll see what’s what with both teams.

Right now the Eagles are 29th in offensive yard, 16th in offensive points, 9th in defensive yards, 12th in defensive points, and in terms of defensive stats are tied for 1st in TDs allowed but 25th in yards per attempt rushing.

The Rams are 7th in offensive yards, 11th in offensive points, 4th in defensive yards, 1st in defensive points, and in terms of defensive stats are tied for 1st in TDs allowed but 11th in yards per attempt rushing.

But then Phil. played Dallas and KC while the Rams played the Texans and Titans.

Yeah, this is going to be a revealing game.

It’s obviously a tough environment to play in, and the Eagles are the Champs for good reason. They’re fearless, and they are physically dominant.

We’re going to see if the retooled defense specifically designed to slow down Saquon is going to work, but that is a tall order. The Eagles just wear people down. It’s going to be a tough game.

I just hope the Rams escape Philly injury-free, and with a comfortable victory by 15 points or more.

Yes my hopes are modest too.

    15-17 point win. That’s all.

Right. I don’t want the Rams to come off as rude guests.

    The Rams signed a cornerback:

Tre Brown, who has started 13 games for the Seahawks and was a 4th-round pick back in 2021.

McVay’s ability to run down the sideline after a Rams’ TD may be impeded against the Eagles.

Rams are 2nd in sacks, Eagles are 31st

The Eagles have had a hard time getting to the quarterback this season, recording only two sacks in two games. That’s tied for the second-fewest in the NFL, with only the Panthers having fewer.

The Rams are near the top of the league with eight sacks, tied for second. Their 69 sack yards are also the most in the NFL, so they’re creating big losses for the opponent by getting the quarterback on the ground.

You know, from a NATIONAL point of view, the Rams have nothing to lose this weekend. The Eagles are favored. Most of the pundits will pick the Eagles to win.

If the Rams lose, people will generally shrug, and move on. If the Rams win, it will change the conversation. Nationally. Among those experts who are really generalists and not experts at all.

Not that it matters. I don’t care what the national consensus is because it’s really not much better informed than the average football fan’s opinion.

I think it will be a good measuring stick for the Rams. It will show us how they measure up against a really good team. In Week 3. Beyond that, it won’t tell us much, except maybe in retrospect – if vulnerabilities are exposed.

In any event, Rams 23 Eagles 16.

A few months ago Ken Jennings announced the Final Jeopardy clue prior to commercial break…..”NFL STATES”

I turn to my wife and say “I’d bet it all” for the Final Jeopardy question. “I can nail this”..

The Final Jeopardy question was…. “Which NFL state has the least population density?”

Nobody got the question correct. I guessed Colts, (Indiana) my wife guessed Green Bay Wisconsin) none of the Jeopardy contestants guessed the correct answer.

It was Nevada… the fucking LV Raiders.

We get the Fucking Raiders @ The National Guard Commanders instead of the Rams at Eagles…

Who is scheduling these TV Maps?

Last week we got Panthers at Cards

Kronke has to fight for California TV share…

You’re right Zooey, I am pissed again!

Rams Practice Report: The Battle For Snaps Has Intensified

    Brock Vierra

    https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/los-angeles-kyren-williams-blake-corum-eagles

WOODLAND HILLS, Ca. The Los Angeles Rams continued in their week three preparations as they look to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last season’s NFC Divisional Round playoff game. The Rams have been unified in their message that this is an important game because all NFL games are important, but while the Eagles themselves may not be the first thing on the team’s mind, getting over the hurdle that is a strong, tested opponent is.

Here’s what I saw in practice.

The battle for snaps has intensified as there are three factors for which we could see movement along the average snaps dolled out so far.

    The Interior Defensive Line

Make no mistake about it, Kobie Turner and Poona Ford will get theirs but with Braden Fiske’s game status up in the air, Tyler Davis has taken initiative in drills and his steady improvement is as clear as day. Not only has there been a continuous improvement with his hands, his feet are quick, his base is low and his punch is coming out with a thud.

    Tyler Davis

While we won’t know what the snap count will look like until game time, Davis has made it clear that whenever he gets called upon, he will be ready to carry the Clemson tradition of dominant defensive linemen when he puts on the colors of the Rams.

    Kyren Williams and Blake Corum

Sean McVay stated that the snap split will likely be 65:35 in favor of Williams, but on the field, especially during individual drills, Corum is pushing Williams to the limit. Don’t be mistaken, Williams has been flying at full speed. This appears to be another situation of iron sharpening iron.

    Blake Corum

Make no mistake, it’s all love in the running back room, especially since both men have come from programs where selfless service towards the ultimate goal is an ingrained mindset, but just because they’re giving as teammates does not mean they’re not trying to take as many snaps as each man can.

While Williams remains the better all-around player, Corum’s shiftiness, vision, and explosive movements into gaps are hard to ignore. In fact, it’s down right mesmerizing.

    Terrance Ferguson continues to grow

Everything about Ferguson’s work ethic and approach says he wants to play right now and while he’s improved in his abilities as a blocker, there remains a few details about the game and a few nuances about the position Ferguson has yet to master.

Still though, Ferguson will get his shot soon. However, McVay is more than justified with his slow and steady approach because come the later part of the season, Ferguson is one of several aces McVay is keeping under wraps.

“…But this year, they also have the “my guy beats your guy” option. Just look at clip 3 from above! Adams’ touchdown last week was pure isolation. No trickery, no gimmicks, just Stafford trusting him to win one-on-one. That’s the difference from previous seasons…”
