Panthers are a fair team, but even on road, Rams should cover. They are Rams castoff city–Rozeboom, Nick Scott, Bobby Brown, AShawn, Corbett. No way Bryce moves ball well next week.

Carolina Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig was suspended one game by the NFL for an act of unsportsmanlike conduct during Monday night’s 20-9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the league announced on Tuesday.
Moehrig hit 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings in the groin after a play in the fourth quarter. The NFL said Moehrig violated “Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to ‘any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship,’ including, among others, ‘throwing a punch, or a forearm, or kicking at an opponent.'”
Jennings responded with a strike to Moehrig’s face after the game’s conclusion. The NFL will review Jennings’ action for a possible fine, but only Moehrig will be suspended, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.

So I guess there’s a chance for Stafford to have a decent game.

wvParticipant10.5 point favorites?? Without Higby and Havenstein? They beat the Packers and Cowboys.
The spread makes no sense to me. But i said that about Tampa too, so I must not know how good the Rams are.
The Rams havent been ten point favorites since 2017.

znModeratorPanthers struggle badly on third down
It’s no surprise the Panthers rank 28th in points per game this season. They can’t sustain drives because of how poorly they perform on third down. They only convert on third down 36% of the time, ranking 26th in the NFL. Defensively, they’re even worse.
They allow opponents to convert 44% of the time, 30th out of 32 teams. The Rams are by no means automatic on third down (16th in NFL) offensively, but they’re stout defensively, ranking fourth in the league with an allowed conversion rate of 35%.

znModeratorStats. Rams are top 10 in 13 of 14 categories. Carolina is top 10 in 1 of 14 categories.
My take? Carolina is mediocre defending the run and the Rams don’t run enough. So, this game, run a lot.

wvParticipantCarolina RB Rico Dowdle.
When he carries the ball 10 or more times: Panthers are 6-1
When he carries the ball less than 10 times: 0-5w

znModeratorCarolina RB Rico Dowdle.
When he carries the ball 10 or more times: Panthers are 6-1Apparently they can’t or don’t run him as much when they are behind.
The exception was week 10 against NO. The Saints pulled ahead in the first half and Panthers were playing catch-up. Dowdle got the ball 18 times but was ineffectual that game, getting just 2.9 per carry.
In week 12 against SF the 9ers led the whole game. Dowdle got 6.3 a carry but only ran 6 times.
He only has 34 passing targets with 27 receptions on the season so apparently isn’t that valuable as a receiver. He averages 19.4 yards receiving a game.
So it just looks like that as a rule, they need a close game to give him carries.
The formula to beating him and them seems to be get ahead early and make them play from behind.

My take? Carolina is mediocre in preventing points scored by opponents and the Rams score more than most teams. So, this game, score a lot.
As a matter of fact, points scored vs. points allowed is the most consistent metric in determining the outcomes of games, so what I always do, I always just root for the Rams to score more points than the team they’re playing, and that one thing has pretty much played out as reliable. More so than TOP, or the # of first downs, or any of that stuff. All of which are important, btw. Not saying they aren’t. All I’m saying is that at the end of the game, what I always look at first is the scoreboard.

Arrested. Scandal. Involving alcohol.

Mark Sanchez will not return as a Fox Sports analyst as the former NFL quarterback faces trial stemming from his alleged attack on a truck driver last month.
To replace Sanchez, Fox has hired Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees.

Rams S Kam Kinchens missed his 2nd straight day of practice today with his shoulder injury, but Sean McVay said yesterday that he expects Kinchens to play Sunday. LB Byron Young (knee) returned to practice on a limited basis. So, basically, the 49ers are getting players back down the stretch while the Rams are losing players down the stretch.
I like the Week 12 Power Rankings I see, but I am not interested in a bad streak of injuries atm.

They apparently see this one as such a foregone conclusion that they don’t even discuss the Panthers. They don’t even mention the Panthers, let alone discuss them. It’s all about Stafford and how McVay uses weapons.

znModeratorThe McVay Rams have an 18-8 record in 1 pm et road games. (Not counting the 2025 London game since it wasn’t really in the opponent’s own stadium).
This year they’re 2-1, with a loss v. the Eagles and wins v. the Titans and Ravens.
The 6-6 Panthers, of course, are more of a challenge than the 1-10 Titans or the 6-6 Ravens, who didn’t have Jackson at qb when the Rams played them.
Injury report from practice (from https://www.si.com/nfl/rams/onsi/los-amgeles-what-latest-injury-report-really-means ):
Limited
Kamren Kinchens (Shoulder), David Quessenberry (Shoulder), and Poona Ford (Calf) are questionable.McVay: “As far as injuries are concerned, the guys that will be limited will be [Safety] ‘Kam’ [Kamren] Kinchens and [Offensive Lineman] David Quesenberry. [Outside Linebacker] ‘BY’ [Byron Young] will be a DNP,” stated McVay. “I feel good about where he’s at. [Offensive Lineman] Alaric [Jackson] is doing our consistent rhythm and routine. [Nose Tackle] Poona [Ford] will be limited. That’s where we’re at injury wise.”
The guys who bear watching, then, are Kinchens and Ford.
