Rams activated OL A.J. Arcuri to roster from practice squad, team announced.

AJ Arcuri … largely has been depth at left and right tackle. Starter Rob Havenstein (ankle) has been questionable this week. Warren McClendon backs up Havenstein.

    From https://www.therams.com/news/top-rams-news-previews-predictions-rams-at-lions-week-1-2024

    • All five of NFL.com’s analysts have picked the Lions to beat the Rams on Sunday Night Football. Read why Brooke Cersosimo chose Detroit here.
    • One of the seven Sports Illustrated/The MMQB’s staffers, Conor Orr, picked the Rams to win in the season opener. All of their Week 1 predictions can be seen here.
    • Of ESPN’s 11 experts, one chose the Rams to come out on top in Week 1: Seth Wickersham. Picks for every game can be viewed here

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue on QB Matthew Stafford and C Jonah Jackson’s dynamic and returning to Detroit

“Do I feel the crowd? Yeah, I feel the crowd, 100 percent. Motivating factor. Love it. I’m one of the guys that walks into the opposing stadium and everybody has their headphones on, I don’t. I want to hear all of it. I want to smell it. I want to feel like it’s football. And that’s a part of football, especially going to an away game. That stuff just motivates me.” – Matthew Stafford

ESPN’s Sarah Barshop on Rams players remembering last year’s playoff loss at Ford Field

“Anybody that has something to prove, anybody that didn’t get a chance to do what they did in that last game, we have every opportunity to do what we want to in [Week 1].” – Quentin Lake

LA Times’ Gary Klein on the Rams’ rookie kicker, Joshua Karty, embracing the pressure in his debut

“Why not just jump straight into the deep end? I definitely like high-energy environments. It’s just a lot of fun.” – Joshua Karty

LA Daily News’ Adam Grosbard on Puka Nacua staying grounded after huge rookie season

“He’s a special dude. I know there’s a lot of things that he’s navigating and going from a fifth-round pick to having the success he had so quickly. But he’s done a great job of that.” – Cooper Kupp

rams @ lions own the largest over/under for week 1, and the only over/under in the 50s… is it because of explosive high scoring offenses, very suspect defenses, or both?

    So the #Rams are missing:

    Starting left tackle
    Starting right tackle
    CB1

Against a Super Bowl contender. Wonderful

the Rams need to bring their run game. Pure and simple

    Rams Bros.@RamsBrothers
Think we see them pound the rock early and often, while in the pistol and with Stafford under center. Their 31.9% success rate on runs out of pistol finished 2nd in the NFL last season.

This plus heavier personnel groupings (12P, 13P) and Kyren/Corum with extra pass pro responsibilities will alleviate the pain of missing 2 starting tackles.

In going on nine NFL seasons, I’ve never taken one day of this for granted. Happy new year, everybody – may it be a chaotically wild delight for all

@JayGlazer is reporting on the FOX broadcast that Rob Havenstein “should be out” today vs Lions. Havenstein made the trip with the team and Rams indicated they would take it up to the wire. Per this report, seems they have made a call. Havenstein has not practiced fully yet.

Warren McClendon is a stud. But, a really tough assignment in his first pro start.

    LLO@Yosoylal0
found this nice piece of info.

“Georgia didn’t allow a sack to Michigan, with McClendon consistently stoning future-first round pick Aidan Hutchinson all night. Against Alabama, McClendon helped hold Will Anderson to 0 sacks.”

    https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2024/9/4/24235046/week-1-injury-report-jahmyr-gibbs-returns-in-full-just-3-lions-dealing-with-injuries

Let’s take a look at the Lions’ first injury report of the 2024 season.

    Injured reserve, Non-Football injury list

    • G Christian Mahogany (Illness, mono) — NFI list, eligible to return in Week 5
    • DT Brodric Martin (knee) — injured reserve, eligible to return in Week 5
    • DL John Cominsky (MCL) — injured reserve, eligible to return in Week 5
    • CB Emmanuel Moseley (pec) — injured reserve, eligible to return in Week 5

    Estimated no practice

    • S Loren Strickland (thumb)

Not much is known about Strickland’s injury at this time beyond the fact that he was also not practicing on Tuesday. Hopefully, we will learn more later this week when coach Dan Campbell speaks with the media on Friday.

    Estimated limited practice

Reader has been projected to return to game action in Week 2 for a few weeks now, but on Wednesday, Campbell indicated there may be a chance the Lions prized free agent is ready to play this week.

“So, yes, there’s still a chance,” Campbell said of Reader possibly playing this week. I’ll know more probably after tomorrow than I do right now. He’s doing well. He’s doing well.”

Reader is not out of the woods yet but there are encouraging signs.
