appropriate to win on a defensive play

vSeptember 18, 2016 at 7:27 pm #53238WinnbradParticipantThe offense is still terrible. 2 games, haven’t scored a TD.
An ugly win, but a win nonetheless. And I’ll take any win over Seattle.
9 penalties for 78 yards. No running game.
Still looks like some 7-9 bullshit to me.

September 18, 2016 at 7:27 pm #53239nittany ramModeratorAll these games against Seattle look the same. They’re always tough defensive battles. I think what tips the scale in Rams favor is at the LOS. Seattle’s weak oline is ultimately overpowered by the Rams d-line.

There is some room for improvement on offense 🙂

Rams defense handcuffed Seattle.
Still no TD’s after 8 qtrs…but some timely drives….

vStrictly speaking you guys are right. And I would not argue with the general premise.
But, still. Keenum was 60% for 219 yards and a 7.3 YPR with no INTs against last year’s 2nd ranked defense (1st ranked in points allowed). He had some clutch throws mixed in there. Britt had 94 yards on 6 catches.
I wouldn;t tell the GSOT Rams to climb down off the throne just yet, but, they showed some moxy and some promise for better.
Now for a zn edit:

September 18, 2016 at 8:05 pm #53250PA RamParticipantBritt was 6 yards shy of 100 yards. When was the last time a receiver had 100 yards for this team?
In any event I’ll take the win.
Nice rebound.

All these

My hope is that Spruce can be a Welker/Amendola type chain mover. We don’t need a great O, just an average O. Right now, we’re at the bottom of the league in offensive stats. Again.
And where the hell is Cunningham??? I was counting on him to move some chains, but he hasn’t been used at all.
We need Spruce and Cooper to step up.
September 18, 2016 at 8:06 pm #53252InvaderRamModeratoroffense still not good enough but great effort by defense. not surprised at all.

yeah. keenum played well enough i think but need a couple more elements in the receiver corps.
i continue to wait for the arrival of spruce.
September 18, 2016 at 8:29 pm #53254bnwBlockedI thought Britt had a big game.
Yes he did. I hope he can continue producing like a #1 WR. Kendrick is starting to show promise too. Tavon had some nice catches early. Much better effort by Keenum and the O line today. Boras called a better game today. Congrats to Z-man getting the 9 points. Defense was a beast.

Yeah, but 7-9 will feel so much better in southern Cal.
Because of the low humidity.

90+ degrees is still hot and 7-9 still sucks.

I’ve only been to LA once in my life. Spent a week there, in January, for a music convention. Most of the women looked a lot like that. People had fruit trees growing in there backyards. In January! One guy had dozens of lime trees. And they were all ripe. He gave us a few, and we put’em in our gin.
All of the people were blonde and gorgeous. They all looked like they were related. It bothered me, but I couldn’t stop staring at them.
I left quietly.
And yes, if ya gotta go 7-9, LA is the place to do it. 7-9 in LA is like 14-2 in a regular city.

Wouldn’t help.
In SoCal the cheeseburgers are made of tofu and kale, so…
September 18, 2016 at 10:32 pm #53284canadaramParticipantOne hope that I am clinging to in regards to the offense is that last season the run blocking was terrible in the first few weeks and then gradually improved by the end of September/early October. I can only hope that history repeats this year. Gurley really isn’t getting any help up front right now. The defense has had two good weeks, but I’m still not sold on the secondary. Unless the pass rush is lights out next week I can see Winston having a huge game.
Good game by Britt and some good moments from Kendricks. The departure of Cook was the best thing that could have happened for Lance. I’ve always been a Kendricks fan. On another note, some of those sacks that Keenum took in the 4th quarter were back breakers. Anyway, i am eagerly awaiting the additions of Spruce, Cooper and eventually Goff. No idea if they will make an impact this year, but the passing game is tough to watch.
Very happy to have been wrong about my prediction this week.
September 18, 2016 at 10:38 pm #53285canadaramParticipantI’m also happy to see Zuerlein off to a good start. I hope he’s turned a corner, or whatever.
September 18, 2016 at 11:01 pm #53289InvaderRamModeratori think it’ll get better in the coming weeks. seattle was the number one rush defense in the league last year. so he’ll go up against softer competition going forward. not too worried yet.
September 19, 2016 at 12:02 am #53295NERamParticipantI have decided that I don’t really enjoy 9-3 defensive struggles.
I know there are those who enjoy these type of games, but I think I much prefer higher scoring affairs.
Let me watch Warner throwing for 450 yards, Faulk running for 200 yards, Isaac, Torry, Ricky and Az catching 100 yards apiece, and a couple of Tony Horne runback TD’s for some daggers.
I know Im living in the past, but these close games are too much for my heart. Honestly thought they were gonna let a gimpy Wilson beat em. I got no confidence in these guys at all.
Definitely had higher expectations for Keenum this year, based on last season. He managed to straighten out later on today, but he did miss a couple of easy ones early on.
Stupid drops and stupid penalties continue to plague these guys. Would love to see this stuff cleared up.
Maybe when Cooper and Spruce are ready, at least the drops will go down.
So its 1-1. Can we beat TB next week? -
