So far Hundley 9-11 for 85 yards(pretty safe throws)and 0 touchdowns.
He has rushed for 42 yards and 2 touchdowns.

January 2, 2015 at 7:49 pm #15369PA RamParticipantTyler Lockett–the Kansas receiver looks pretty electric.

January 2, 2015 at 7:53 pm #15373PA RamParticipantWow–Lockett misses one–shoulda been a T.D.
On another note–Myles Jack(only a sophomore) looks like he’s going to be a heck of a linebacker.

January 2, 2015 at 8:20 pm #15376PA RamParticipantKendricks is a great linebacker–U.C.L.A. is loaded there.

January 2, 2015 at 8:28 pm #15377PA RamParticipantHundley threw his first T.D.—receiver wide open in the endzone.

January 2, 2015 at 8:31 pm #15378PA RamParticipantHundley ran for two T.D.s now and thrown for 1.
Still–the credit for U.C.L.A.’s dominance goes to their defense.

January 2, 2015 at 8:35 pm #15379PA RamParticipantThat’s half.
Can’t watch a second half of this. K-State just doesn’t look like a threat at all.
As for Hundley—who knows? He can run for sure. That’s interesting. Some of his passes were a bit off and he hasn’t made any spectacular throws–but I’d say his arm is strong enough.
Depends on what the Rams want, I guess.
I don’t watch college football so I am no one to judge on this but just the little I’ve seen, I’d say I like Hundley’s legs and Bryce Petty’s arm. Can we assemble that and go from there?
I would at least consider taking either in the second round–but not at #10 in the first.

vJanuary 3, 2015 at 9:47 am #15415DakParticipantI don’t like any of the quarterbacks that much. Petty in the mid-rounds would be my choice, if I had to choose a QB.
I looked closely at Cook in that game. He was so inconsistent. I mean, he had guys open who had no chance to catch his passes. Then, on a similar pass play, he’d hit them in the chest with a pass. To me, he’s a late-rounder developmental type of QB, if he comes out.
Mariotta, if he drops to 10, OK, maybe you give him a shot. But, if he fell to 10, that just shows that he’s not that coveted, and you’d have to wonder why. Bridgewater dropped in the 1st round last year, so anything’s possible.
After Mariotta, right now, from what I’ve seen and read, I wouldn’t consider a QB from this class in the first two rounds.
O-line would be great in the 1st round, imo. It’s a deep draft at the position, it’s a position of need, No. 10 is a good spot for that position … seems like a natural choice if the Rams can find a player who has versatility at the position. I’m even OK with signing Barksdale AND drafting an OT, with the idea that either the draft pick or Robinson could play guard for the next couple years.

Shane Carden vs. UF on now.
This is my 2nd round target.

Well I thought I would be a good guy and contribute to the college qb thread.
You know, put that ole eagle eye to good use. See what all those pent up scouting instincts could come up with, watching this Carden guy.
So I get the game at the half and…right now, it’s a defensive struggle.
Usually I like those but this is one of those rare times when I turn on the tv to watch a college qb.
It’s that twisty ole fate thing. Sometimes, the b’ar eats YOU.
January 3, 2015 at 3:57 pm #15450PA RamParticipantCarden’s team lost to Florida 28-20.
His stats:
34-66 427 yards 2 T.D.s 2 Ints.
Not much of a scrambler or runner.
Rushed 9 times for -14 yards.
His last interception was pretty terrible—in the redzone he lofted a floater at the endzone to a guy well covered. Easy pick.
Just saw the highlights–didn’t watch the game.

I didn’t come away all pro Carden-y. But it was just one game and one against a top 10 D so…I can’t claim anything one way or another.
January 3, 2015 at 4:16 pm #15452wvParticipant….did i hear right? ..did he play on the offensive line as well?

Yes, but, it sounded like he meant for the scout team.

I’d be happy with Petty…..and I wouldn’t expend too much angst if they took him the 2nd round. I don’t think he would have to be around too awfully long to be better than Davis or Hill, and would probably make a nice understudy to Bradford. I lamented the fact that the Rams didn’t take Garappolo last May, and I don’t see a lot of difference between Petty and him. NFL ready? No. But I think he has what it takes to be an effective NFL quarterback. If the Rams had one of those this season, they might be getting ready for a game this weekend.

Carden had a record breaking day in his bowl game against the best cover corner in the nation and one of the top defensive backfields overall.
He threw on time, he threw while disrupted. He threw running, and he took hits (Fowler had a huge game against their O line).
He trusted his receivers to make plays, took chances, and recovered from a pick 6 showing ZERO affect on his mental gameplan.
^^^^ That’s all I need. I hope his measurable drop him to round 2 and we can STEAL him. But I’m all in on him being a great fit for our franchise. Especially if he gets a year to relax and learn.

Mariota looked reallllllllly good. He is the obvious 1 overall. He threw with poise from many positions. He is also just sooooo athletic it’s scary.
He still has advantages at this level that will not exist in the pros. The tempo keeps the defense exhausted so they have a real system advantage there. He gets to live one step ahead of a relatively confused and winded opponent.
That said, he’s still the 1 overall. He deserves it, he works hard, and throws a gorgeous ball.

Winston actually “Quarterbacked” better. He used more head movement, and threw with better anticipation of the field than Mariota did. Reminded me why I held him in such high esteem before he started his boneheaded mistake filled year. If he wasn’t a knucklehead I’d draft him over Mariota, but being a knucklehead is something you have to grow out of, and that doesn’t happen overnight.
All 3 of these guys threw one baaaad ball and got it picked. All 3 guys recovered and kept pushing.

I hope he doesn’t drop to #10 and force the Rams into making a bad decision.
I think taking him would be a HUGE mistake.
I don’t think Mariota or Winston are sure things. They are not Manning or Luck.
It’s a weak QB draft and by lack of competition they’ve floated to the top. That doesn’t mean either will be good at the next level. I have this nightmare of Winston falling to # 8 or #9 nor #10 and Fisher sitting there saying–well–I guess we gotta get him now.
I don’t want him anywhere near this team. His talent isn’t THAT special. And even if it is–I just see a knucklehead and sometimes you can’t fix that–it just gets worse.
No thanks.

Yeah, and Fisher isn’t afraid to take a chance on a knucklehead. He’s done it many times with mixed results.
January 5, 2015 at 8:11 am #15547DakParticipantFrom everything I’ve read, Winston should have been investigated for rape, and wasn’t because of some dubious decisions by local law enforcement. That alone gives me great pause. I don’t want a guy like that.
