“…Goff’s three new targets — vertical threat Sammy Watkins, possession receiver Robert Woods and slot guy Cooper Kupp — combined to make 12 catches for 187 yards. Gurley, who continues to prove he can be a major threat as a receiver, made five catches for 56 yards…”
Man-o-Man, what a difference from last year.
They ran routes. They held on to the ball. They got open.
The three amigos. Or Ramigos. Sorry, i couldnt help it.

They will score more points this year.
And when teams realize they have to respect the passing game, Gurley may bust out for a 75-yard day.

There’s a report out there, in terms of early “game review watching the all-22” style reports, that in fact IND did NOT play the run. They did not load the box and play run first.
If so that means Gurley and the OL ran against lighter opposition in the box and still couldn’t get er going.

During the game it looked to me that they were loading up the box. But, I can’t claim to be an expert at that part of the game. It did seem that Gurley might have cut outside on some plays. But still, “the running game” continues to be a mystery.
September 11, 2017 at 1:46 pm #74164PA RamParticipantI still think Gurley runs sometimes with his eyes closed. Head down–burrow into the pile. Hope to pop out on the other side and then hurdle someone. I know it doesn’t look much different from last year. They have to solve this.

Is Todd Gurley the new Zack Stacy? Please discuss.

He might be, but one game is just too early to say much of anything, imho. I usually dont even ‘start’ looking at stats or trends until after four games. Thats just me, though.
I’m thrilled about the Colt game, but my god was that a bad Colt team on the road. I really dont know if they will win a game this year.
About all that game proved to me, is that if you give Goff a lot of time in the pocket he can beat you. Which is nice and all, but the good teams bring pressure.
What then?
We’ll see.

He had, what? bout 50 in the air and 40 on the ground? Kindof a Faulk type day, as far as actual yardage.
I dont trust Gurley, but i trust McV at this point. McV will figure out what Gurley can do, and he’ll focus on that. He may end up being a role player, who knows.

vSeptember 11, 2017 at 6:25 pm #74190AgamemnonParticipantPer https://t.co/Ahna5dqQ2R NextGenStats, Todd Gurley faced 8+ defenders in the box just 10.5% of his carries. Down from 25.5% in 2016.

8+ means more than 8, right? So, still not an answer.
September 11, 2017 at 6:27 pm #74191InvaderRamModeratoras poorly as gurley ran, he still had 96 total yards.
of course this was as shitty a defense as you’ll find in the nfl.
yeah. i’m just not sure about him at this point. i feel like more than several times he just lowered his head and didn’t even look where he was running when he could have easily bounced it outside.
of course later on he did bounce some runs outside only for an olineman or a tight end to get called for holding. so. who knows?

that’s a good point. He woulda had at least 25 more yards if it weren’t for the holding calls. Let’s stay optimistic. Just don’t understand how someone can be so good one yaer, and then…poof, it’s gone.
