i think he’d make more sense. he fits a need for the rams offense.

he could be gotten for much cheaper. he wouldn’t be the gronk of old. but he’d be way better than what they have. and everett still has a spot open if he can take it.

Rams rumored as possible trade partner for Patriots and Rob Gronkowski

by Bob Garcia IV March 30, 2018

The Los Angeles Rams wasted little time this offseason in working out moves to improve their roster coming off their first playoff appearance in over a decade. The team has been active in the trade market and in free agency, adding proven talent to both sides of the ball ahead of the 2018 season.

Los Angeles has recently been linked as a possible landing spot for New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. However, Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal is reporting that the Rams could also be in the picture to acquire New England Patriots All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski.

This comes in wake of a report stating that the Patriots could consider moving on from Gronkowski due to his uncertainty of returning next season. Since the Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the 28-year-old has been hush about his NFL future, and there’s no timetable for when he will make his decision.

Gronkowski is currently under contract through the 2019 season, as he still has two years left on his six-year, $54 million extension with $19 million left in both base salary and bonuses. He is also coming off another highly productive campaign where he had 69 receptions, 1,084 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns to help him earn a Pro Bowl selection and a First-Team All-Pro nod.

If the Patriots were to lean in that direction, the Rams would certainly be in the picture as a possible landing spot given their aggressiveness this offseason in retooling the roster to better position themselves as a potential Super Bowl contender. Los Angeles does have stable play at tight end with the combination of Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett, but Gronkowski would be a significant upgrade.

    Rob Gronkowski, Patriots
The Arizona product is widely regarded as arguably the best tight end in the NFL, demonstrating his elite talent as a major red zone target. Gronkowski has also demonstrated his ability to be a huge asset with his blocking, which would be important in helping Todd Gurley build off his impressive 2017 season that saw him earn the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award and fall just short of winning the NFL MVP award (given to Tom Brady).

It would take a significant haul for the Rams to lure away Gronkowski from the Patriots, but LA has shown no hesitation in working out deals. Ultimately, this is something to keep an eye on moving forward, depending on how things transpire in New England.

I don’t think they have any cap space.

I don’t know, man, I myself am getting a little impatient with this whole “it’s Friday, which star will they get today” thing.

    Time for some real football.

He said, impatiently, knowing full well there was still a ways to go…

    i wouldn’t know.

part of me does want to see the rams develop some players.

that’s part of what mcvay was supposed to bring. his ability to relate and teach.

so yeah. there kinda is no fun in bringing in already established stars. then mcvay just becomes manager of egos.

but tight end i think is a weak spot. maybe they draft a guy like ian thomas. but he’s very raw. talented but raw.

I think Gronk is being held together by ductape at this point in his career. I would not give up more than a third round pick for him.

The 49ers can trade for him, too. 😉

    i wouldn’t trade a first rounder either.

i would give up the third rounder. and then draft kolton miller with the 23rd if he’s available.

he’d be the swing tackle. and possibly take over at left tackle in 2019. or play right tackle if they think whitworth has another year left in him with an eye toward left tackle in 2020.

    garoppolo obj gronk garcon?

ehhh… that might actually be a little scary to be honest.

or maybe mcvay is bluffing the niners into trading three first rounders for two big headaches???

    Well that hardly seems fair.

Problem with Gronk is he has talked about retirement. Don’t be shocked if he goes to the WWE next year. Plus, can Gronk stay healthy for 16 weeks. So no, I would not trade for him.
