They act like they have never seen Austin Davis before. In 2012 pre-season he was doing very well. He showed a great deal of upside and ability. In 2013 he had a down camp but the Rams eventually brought him back and signed him. Last Saturday the kid seized the moment and had a great game. This guy broke all of Brett Farve’s records at Southern Mississippi. Austin Davis has some real ability. I personally think he should be the starter.

Lets not forget that, Austin actually has more time logged with the Schottenheimer offense. 3 years to be exact than Hill does.

Well, I didn’t read any comments on Davis on any other board, so I don’t know what they’re saying, but as long as we’re discussing him, I’m skeptical too. People just see different things in unproven players. Opinions differ.

I think everyone knows his history, both before the Rams and with the Rams. (His numbers in college don’t mean much to me because that’s all just more effects of the college spread…doesn’t mean it translates to the NFL.) I am of the school that until he proves it to me, I am a doubter.

The last back-up prospect some people liked a lot, Thaddeus Lewis, just got cut by Buffalo. Yet there are still people who swear Lewis can play, because they liked him in some Rams pre-season games.

To me, seeing Davis in one half of a pre-season game in 2014 where he wasn’t as bad as last summer is not enough yet to annoint him. And to me, he didn’t show enough in 2012 to have great hope in him.

Maybe people here can talk me into it. We;ll see.

True enough, you never know until they play but I was raving about the kid in 2012 as well and as I recall Fisher was impressed with him then as well. 2013 was a total shock that he did not perform well in training camp but, you notice they did bring him back. His performance against the Browns was very solid and I’ll say this for him. He gives one the impression he understands command of the huddle and running the offense in a pro game. Bradford after his rookie campaign really struggled with those issues.

Would you feel comfortable rolling with Austin Davis against Seattle and San Francisco? I can’t say that I would. Shaun Hill has experience, and that counts for a lot at the QB position.

Davis throws a good ball. I don’t know what we have in Davis. I don’t know about his deep ball. From what I’ve seen, it looks good, but if he were our starter, I’d be worried. Not jumping off the ledge, but worried.

That said, he went from having a kinda crappy camp to earning that 2nd spot in convincing fashion.
