What are your thoughts?
September 23, 2018 at 7:05 pm #91233AgamemnonParticipantSeptember 23, 2018 at 7:06 pm #91236JackPMillerParticipantFirst time since 2006 we had 500+ in a game. Scott Linehan was our Head Coach back when it happened.
We played sloppy, but still found a way to win.
September 23, 2018 at 7:07 pm #91237znModeratorCostly win, but the offense looked so good.
September 23, 2018 at 7:07 pm #91238JackPMillerParticipantI wonder when the last time we had 600 yards of offense? 700 yards of offense? 800 yards of offense? Again just wondering. If McVay will ever get that kind of offense type of days
September 23, 2018 at 7:27 pm #91246nittany ramModeratorThis win was very costly. Rams defense became pedestrian without those great corners. Their loss really magnified the lack of pass rush.
Goff and the offense were outstanding though. Which is good because they may have to carry this team for awhile.

Let’s hope Peters and Talib’s injuries are not serious. I don’t expect to see them Thursday against the Vikings, I don’t expect to see Peters, not sure about Talib, but the rest of our Defense needs to step up though, if we want to pull of a win on Thursday.
Then again, it felt our guys on D had their minds elsewhere. Are tackling most of the day was like crap, and that is being kind. Maybe the guys minds were thinking about Thursday night or something.

Maybe even more serious is the lack of a consistent pass rush. They are getting nothing from their edge rushers and Donald and Suh aren’t wrecking the havoc I thought they would. Donald was completely invisible against the pass this game.

yeah. could be this team’s undoing.
September 23, 2018 at 9:49 pm #91270Eternal RamnationParticipantAbout what I expected minus the injuries. Last year of course we had the vikes until we lost our starting corners.Goff keeps proving me correct. The DL is seriously underwhelming at this point sure they get close and force errant throws but these guys are supposed to dominate and Donald and Suh are not. The Chargers are in the bottom half of OL ratings and the big three are just not getting it done to an acceptable level considering the personnel and it’s price tag . Third game together , full week of prep up against rookies and backups noway it should’ve been that close. I love Cooks but I think Woods is probably our best pure wr.Cooks had some great blocks which surprised me pleasantly and Kupp is like Popeye Amendola after he eats his spinach , so smart and no quit , he squeezes ever last drop of effort out on every play. The Ol play was impressive and of course Gurley as he has so many times just took control of the game late.
September 23, 2018 at 10:38 pm #91275PA RamParticipantThe offense is outstanding.
I do wonder if losing Quinn on the edge has affected what Donald can do. For whatever reason, he isn’t blowing things up on the inside. They NEED those premium corners. I hope they get back soon or the Rams will have to win shootouts.
Big test on a short week. Good QB and receivers. They need to find a pass rush.

September 23, 2018 at 10:45 pm #91276InvaderRamModeratorjust loved the way gurley iced that game at the end.
and then to top it off brown came in and pounded them for good measure. that’s some running game the rams got there!
on the other hand the lack of an edge rush really has me worried. my only hope is ogbo can contribute in the second half of the season. yikes!
September 23, 2018 at 11:54 pm #91278canadaramParticipantNew-and-improved-living-in-the-moment-Canadaram is super excited by how solidly Goff performed today. I haven’t felt this confident about a Rams QB since the 2003 version of Bulger.
I think the Rams have the depth to weather the injuries in the secondary assuming more injuries don’t occur, but it sure would help if Donald can start finding his groove.
September 24, 2018 at 12:01 am #91279znModeratorA small thing but fwiw…right now there are just 3 3-0 teams. Rams, Miami, and Chiefs.
Tampa hasn’t played yet so by tomorrow night it could be 4.
September 24, 2018 at 12:07 pm #91298joemadParticipantI thought that Dan Fouts was a bit of homer in the booth…..
September 24, 2018 at 8:51 pm #91335wvParticipantI will watch the game on replay. Saw the hi-lites though. Awesome win.
I knew Sam Shields would be a big addition to this team.

vLet’s hear impressions after you see it.
Once again the Rams offense looks just effortless.
I have not seen them this effective on 3rd down since the GSOT days.
September 25, 2018 at 12:03 pm #91373wvParticipantSo I’m watchin the condensed version of the charger game (only 45 mins to watch it all), and i watched the first ram TD drive. A thing of beauty. Precision. Whipsawing the charger D. Perfect Execution. No pressure on Goff. Gurly blasting through tackles.
So impressive. And then there’s the OLine on the goaline and Gurley smashing in easily. Just like the other games.
Remember when the Rams couldnt run in the redzone? Well what is the secret? Is it the talent on the Oline? Gurley’s skill? I dont think so. I think its the scheme mainly (plus those other two things). By ‘scheme’ i mean i think the Defenses just dont know whats coming. They seem on their heels. A lot. So far.
And thats McVay. Mainly.w
vSeptember 25, 2018 at 2:09 pm #91379HerzogParticipantI agree, they are on their heels. Gurley and Goff are both just too good….pick your poison.

Yeah, they have the players and the coaching. And the NFC doesnt look quite so formidable now.
And the Pats dont look unbeatable.A lot of things could happen but one of them things is a super bowl title. Heck weve already penciled in the playoff berth — we are now thinking about Home Field Advantage. Which leads to the…Vikings.
The Viking game will be a great measure. Last year’s Viking defense just throttled Goff and the offense.
McVay has had a year to process that game. So we’ll see.w

And thats McVay. Mainly.i think kromer has done an excellent job with the oline.
and whitworth. even beyond just his skill i think his leadership has been huge. and then having that stability at left tackle has allowed saffold to stay at left guard where he’s been excellent as usual. and that just ripples on down to the rest of the last line.
not to dismiss mcvay’s impact but he’s only as good as the people around him.

Game 3 Chargers …
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly …
I’m a little late this week, and the next game has crept up on me, oops … been catching extra college ball.
The Great
1) Record approaching offense … I think honestly this offense could be better than the GSOT pretty quickly …
2) I may be nuts, but … 100 yard rusher, and 2 100 yard WRs? Did I see that right?
3) Special Teams TD.
4) That throw … on the move to Kupp. That was a keeper in my mental files.
The Good
5) Higbee involved. Im still hunting a TE in college because we’re not getting what we need, but I’m happy there are some opportunities to get the big guy some chances to show off his hands and physicality.
6) May seem odd … but the passing TD from the 3. Now teams have no idea what we can do inside the 5 …
7) Next man up … they held the ship together, albeit with duct tape … in the secondary. This week we’re in trouble …
8) The psychological effect of the offensive playcalling … going from high window dressing to a basic hitch. It’s just really hard for defenders to get their bearings. Very curious if we can rattle Zimmer’s boys tonight.
9) Peters is at least a game time decision. I doubt he plays … but I thought he had the high ankle.
10) Malcolm Brown … man. It’s like he’s hunting the defense when he comes in, furious that they are going to relax because TG is out.
11) Shields end zone deflection.
The Bad
12) Both CBs? C’mon man.
13) Knowing Suh’s sack should have been a penalty. Ugh. That rule has to go. How do you tackle a QB without landing on him?
14) JJ3 jumping the wrong route.
15) No D line effect. What is the ish?
16) Where’s Okoronkwo?
17) Who is returning punts now?
18) Guys if your not the starting KR, stay in the end zone on kickoffs … the 25 is fine.
19) Still issues with run D, but at least we’re making teams one dimensional early.
