Rams played hard in this game but made too many mistakes

The biggest mistake with about 4 minutes left in the 1st half… the Rams have an opportunity to go up 14-7 on the Vikes. They have driven the ball the lenght of the field surviving a couple of drops from Higbee, big hits taken by Goff, and a very loud crowd. Anyhow last in the drive Goff scrambles nearing getting a 1st down. On 3rd and Goff hits Kupp with a strike getting the first down. As Kupp is heading for the end zone, just before getting to the goaline Kupp is hit hard and fumbles. Great play by the Vikes but a ball Kupp needs to hold on to.

After that series and into the second half the Vikes eventually took over and our young Rams weren’t up to the task. This Rams team has to be able to win games like this one.

I’m betting they will with a more seasoned Goff and offense and a defense that should be ferocious. A game last year that evolved into a 24-7 game might be more like 17-14 Rams this year.

Another play. With the score 14-7 (Vikes) in the 4th

Rams around mid-field score still close but you can feel the Rams need something to happen. Again Goff fighting his guts out on 3rd and 10 he throws a strike to Kupp who promptly dropped the ball. A catch there would have been huge and put he Rams in the red zone.

If there was any game last year that showed the Rams youth it was this one. Including play calling by McVay who went away from Gurley

Rams secondary got banged up in that game as well. The Vikings were able to take advantage of the young guys. Not a lot of sustained drives by the offense and by the start of the 4th quarter the entire Rams defense was running on fumes.

The Rams lost their top wide receiver Robert Woods for several weeks with a shoulder injury, but injuries to cornerbacks Kayvon Webster and Nickell Robey-Coleman could be even more damaging with the New Orleans Saints on deck this Sunday.

Webster is in concussion protocol after leaving in the second quarter at Minnesota. Robey-Coleman had a thigh injury in the first half and did not return.

With reserve corner Troy Hill inactive because of a hamstring injury, the Rams were forced to turn to Blake Countess and rookie Dominique Hatfield. Hatfield was caught flat-footed on a 65-yard touchdown catch-and-run by Adam Thielen in the fourth quarter.

Robey-Coleman only had just 9 snaps in that game.

    Webster had 25.

Hatfield, in for Webster, had 41.

Countess, in for R-C at nickel, had 15

    Countess had
