    Good Morning Football@gmfb
I think @adamamin set it up beautifully on the broadcast. @RamsNFL rookie Xavier Smith had never touched a ball in an NFL game. As a high schooler, he wrote letters to 100 colleges and only one — Florida A&M— provided him a chance. And on the biggest of stages, he made the biggest of plays to help save the Rams season. You can’t make this up.” -@PSchrags

tutu drops perfect ball, stafford goes right back to him on the very next play for a big gainer and confidence builder.

oline folds causing sack/punt, stafford encourages the unit.

johnson not on same page causing 3/out, stafford patiently tutors him.

@RamsNFL @JaredVerse1 consistently collapsed the pocket and affected the QB throughout. What a group of active talented DL they have drafted the last 2 years. In Les Snead they trust

What a great coaching job the Rams are doing getting these youngins ready to play. Hats off to Ryan Wendell. The best part is it doesnt look like anyone is missing assignments.

PFF credited the @RamsNFL with 27 pressures yesterday, with first & second year pass rushers accounting for 22 (!) of those. I’ll save you the trouble: Of course, missed tackles… converting those is an issue. But long lens, this is EXTREMELY encouraging.

The Rams got big games from Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske when they needed it.

Turner and Fiske each had seven pressures which was tied for the most for the week in the NFL. That duo has serious upside.

edge rusher Byron Young had the third-highest pass-rush grade via PFF. Had four pressures which was a season-high.

Jared Verse added four pressures as well with a win percentage of 20%.

    RAMS ON FILM@RamsOnFilm
Byron Young was the highest rated Rams defender vs the 49ers. I feel Young has added a few pass rush moves to his repertoire in year 2. He had 2 tackles for loss in the game this past Sunday, a few good pressures against Trent Williams & a crucial strip sack!

    JAKE ELLENBOGEN@JKBOGEN
#Rams had 6 defensive players yesterday in the double digits for win rate %

    Michael Hoecht 23.1%
    Jared Verse 20%
    Byron Young 18.2%
    Kobie Turner 15.6%
    Braden Fiske 12%
    Bobby Brown III 10%

    Absolute dogs up front

    Blaine Grisak@bgrisakTST
Rams wide receivers are just built different in the run game!

Rookie WR Jordan Whittington was the highest-graded run-blocking WR via PFF with a run-blocking grade of 88.6.

Sean McVay joked that the last play yesterday might be skewing their explosive pass plays allowed but removing that, Rams are tied for fourth most allowed thru 3 weeks (15, with 12 completions of 20+ yards). They are getting initial pressure but QBs working out of structure and

creating downfield is one of the multiple reasons here. 11 of the 15 were just over last two weeks per TruMedia. “Rush and coverage go together …I think we have to do a good job of rushing with integrity, not allowing some of these plays to extend. Some of them are individual

efforts…then some of them, we have got to hit home with a 5 man rush, they have a good design on and we’ve got to be able to play our techniques a little bit better…other than turnovers, that is the next indicator of playing really good – I don’t get really involved in the

stats, but the turnovers and then minimizing the explosives whether it’s the run game or the pass game and then creating them on the offensive side of the ball, those are critical factors for being able to efficient and execute on either side …and we certainly have to do a

    better job of that.”

TL;DR multiple things are true at the same time + this should be fixable

How good is Jordan Whittington already for the #Rams? He’s already tied for 4th in WR run blocking grade. Yeah…He’s gonna stick and be a good one for a long time

Per Next Gen Stats, Matthew Stafford’s average Time to Throw of 3.13 seconds is currently third-longest for all NFL QBs in Week 3 entering Monday Night Football.

Will also add that NGS says Stafford was under pressure on 46.4% of his dropbacks (fourth-highest entering MNF), so the Time to Throw shouldn’t be taken as an all-encompassing mark for yesterday/with a grain of salt.

As is the case with advance stats/analytics vs. eye test

The Rams are among the top teams in the league in quarterback pressures and hurries, despite blitzing at the fifth-lowest rate in the league (15.8%).
    .
    Blaine Grisak@bgrisakTST
Rams WR TuTu Atwell was the 7th-highest graded wide receiver via PFF with a grade of 79.4. His 3.88 yards per route run ranked 5th. Ranked 18th in average depth of target.

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Here’s another noteworthy observation via Next Gen Stats: After utilizing 11 personnel on 100% of snaps through Week 2, the Rams utilized 12 personnel on 25 of 56 snaps in Week 3 (44.6%). It marked their highest 12 personnel usage in a game since Week 16 of the 2022 season.

They’ll clean it up, but among rookies in the first three weeks of the season, JV8 (8) and Fiske (3) have the most missed tackles. They also rank 3rd and 5th is missed tackle percentage – JV8 (36.4%) and Fiske (21.4%).

mcvay is just 2 dubs away from becoming the rams all-time leader in wins (reg+post) – as it stands he’s:
    #1 postseason appearances
    #1 postseason wins
    #2 games head coached
    #2 wins

The Rams’ top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft rank first and second among rookies in pressures through the first three weeks of the season.

    🥇 Braden Fiske, @RamsNFL (12)
    🥈 Jared Verse, @RamsNFL (11)

Aleric Jackson made his 2024 debut and he had an instant impact. It was no easy task to start off against Nick Bosa and former Rams champion Leonard Floyd, but AJ looked stout! Having a consistent anchor on QB1s blind side is the best recipe for offensive success. Great game 77

Before we completely turn the page from Week 3, one more Matthew Stafford appreciation post: Stafford led the Rams on 2 scoring drives in the final 3 minutes vs. 49ers, with both drives leading to points in under a minute. Under. A. Minute.

Braden Fiske had 6 pressures yesterday.

That’s tied for the 2nd-most in a single game among interior defensive linemen this season, in the company of greats like Chris Jones, Dexter Lawrence and others.

    Rams Bros.@RamsBrothers
Jared Verse is a heavy favorite right now to win DROY, per DraftKings

    • Jared Verse (+300)
    • Laiatu Latu (+600)
    • Dallas Turner (+600)
    • Byron MurphII (+900)

Best part, it’s just the beginning. Once he starts racking up sacks, it’s over. Hope you got your bets in!

The Rams’ rookie duo in Week 3:

    Braden Fiske:
    7 pressures
    12.0% win rate

    Jared Verse:
    4 pressures
    20.0% win rate

I was just thinking about this.

Seems to me that the Rams have been getting a LOT of pressure (I don’t have any stats), but just not finishing.

I don’t know why they aren’t finishing (sacking the QB), but – damn- they seem to me to be getting there.

    Turner, Young – 2nd year

    Fiske, Verse – Rookies.

Let’s go. Let’s figure this out, and get it on.

I dunno. It looks like high upside to me.

Think defenses respect Rams WR TuTu Atwell’s speed? Only three players averaged over 8 yards of cushion and has an average targeted air yards mark over 10. TuTu Atwell was one of those players.

A few times, Jared Verse is RIGHT THERE to make the play in the backfield. He’s almost over excited to make a play. If he can reign that in positively, expect to see more negative plays that blow up offensive drives.

Really impressed with @byron_97 so far this season. He told me this spring he felt like he had games last year where he needed to close out and didn’t come through, which led to him making that his No. 1 goal for this season. Week 3 showed he’s on his way to accomplishing that
