The day Lucas Havrisik makes 3 field goals including a 51 yarder and one to send it to OT is somehow the same day Matt Gay misses two rare ones. What is this season?

One summation of yesterday is that the Rams took a historically efficient opponent to overtime on the road in a contest featuring 7 lead changes and played entirely within 6 points.

    from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2023/12/11/rams-matthew-stafford-stats-streak-week-14/?taid=657743b1a7e88e0001af1b83&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter

[Stafford’s] passer rating during this three-game streak is an impressive 111.0 and he’s completing 63% of his passes while taking just two sacks. His yardage total (802) may not be eye-popping, but he’s consistently putting the Rams in position to score and win games despite playing on one of the youngest and most inexperienced rosters in football.

If you want another example to show just how good Stafford has been in his last three games, take a look at the list of quarterbacks since Week 12 who have at least 10 touchdown passes:

    1. Matthew Stafford: 10

That’s it. That’s the list. The next-closest player is Dak Prescott, who has nine touchdown passes and no interceptions, but no one else has more than seven touchdown passes in the last three weeks.

Joe Noteboom looked more comfortable & productive at RT.

in fact i just took at peek at pff, they ranked him #18 among 52 qualifying ot for wk 14, #13 in run blk, a far cry from the absolute bottom of the barrel rankings they usually give him!

so  not bad for an outfit that had ranked him #72 out of 73 tackles (min 400 snaps) headed into week 14.

For another consecutive week the #Rams rookies Byron Young and Kobie Turner lead all rookies in sacks. This time Byron Young leads all rookies with 6 and Kobie trails by half a sack. The two rookies will now compete for most sacks by a rookie

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Davis Allen boosting the reputation of an already well-regarded Rams 2023 draft class.

    Todd G.

I know a lot of fans are gonna be upset but I felt there were a lot of positives today. Alaric Jackson second good game in a row against really good competition. Davis Allen not only looks like the tight end of the future, but possibly, the tight end of the now. Demarcus Robinson and Stafford need work together but he may be that true X receiver the Rams under McVay have seldom had. Kyren Williams is turning into a star! Over 100 yards on this defense??

Y’all won the SB. Nothing can change that. Now admit the holding penalty on Logan Wilson was BS. Lol

    Andrew Whitworth@AndrewWhitworth
    Deal, IF….

You admit the facemask to Jalen Ramsey by Higgins to start 2nd half.

    1. So we don’t get first down. And kick FG.

    2. Y’all lose a touchdown.

    What’s the score ??

    We da Champs!!!!!!!!!! ????

Allen was good stepping in for all the TEs ahead of him Sunday. Nice performance by a rookie.

But to me what he did in the Baltimore game just cemented what he had already done in the Arizona game, where he used his ridiculous catch radius to snag a low pass while remaining upright and running. I don’t know about his blocking yet but he looks to have a ton of promise.

The plan on defense for Rams was clearly to take away the run game and make Ravens one-dimensional. It worked. Lamar threw the ball 43 times – his most since Week 5 of 2022. Ravens offense had their least successful game rushing w/Lamar since Week 16 of 2018 (his rookie year).

I’ve felt this way for a while, and I think it’s really showing up today: The NFL has an offensive line issue. All the reductions in practice time and contact have wreaked havoc on teams ability to develop OL depth, and that’s made injuries catostrophic.

    It’s a real problem.

    Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartz
Many reasons for decline in OL play, including what you mentioned. No one talks about coaching that often but some coaches have not adapted to less time for practice/film. They waste time doing stupid drills and doing too much cya. And some coaches just aren’t good.

This has been a talking point of Pat Kirwin on Sirius NFL Radio for a while. Same reasons suggested. Also some talk of college offenses being a contributor.

The Rams special teams unit currently ranks 32nd in the NFL via DVOA. McVay opted not to bring back John Fassel following the 2019 season. It would be the second time since then that the Rams have fielded a bottom-3 special teams unit.

the 29 offensive points scored against the ravens propelled the rams into the top 10 in offensive scoring thru week 14 – the rams now rank #8, only the dolphins, 49ers, cowboys, ravens, bills, lions and eagles are ahead of them.

McVay opted not to bring back John Fassel following the 2019 season

Is this accurate? I thought Fassel just took a better offer elsewhere. I do recall some conversation about McVay early on, though, something about getting all the coaches/staff on the same page in terms of culture, but I don’t trust my memory of any of that.

    Rams Week 14 Defense Pressures:

    Donald: 8
    Jones: 6
    Turner: 5
    Young: 2
    Hoecht: 2

That marks a third straight week for Kobie Turner with 4+ pressures.

Ahkello Witherspoon had the 4th lowest targeted passer rating in week 14 of all starting corners. He’s still 3rd among all corners in catch percentage as well for the season per PFF.

another thing i want to see. how stafford integrates both kupp and nacua into the offense. it’s been slow so far but i gotta think they’ll figure it out. was this the best they’ve looked with both in the lineup? i think they’ll get better too.

It’s accurate.  The speculation was that it was because Fassel was a Fisher hire and McVay wanted his own coach in there, plus  McVay soured on Fassel after he called for an unsanctioned fake punt from inside the Rams own 30 that failed. It was the final game of the season against the Cards. The Rams went on to win the game but the cameras caught how livid McVay was on the sidelines.
