When is the last time the Rams had a RB rush for 1000 two seasons in a row? And score over 30 tds in the process. Again why are some just focusing on his lack of breakaway speed when it’s clear he brings a lot super positives to the tableHe has good vision and feet. Listen to the announcers when they talk about him. We haven’t had a back as productive since Gurley 2018. He doesn’t have great speed. Ok, but he does all the other stuff really well

This is right. I was only a kid when I watched McCutcheon, but that would be my comp for Williams. He is not as good as Dickerson, Bettis, Faulk, Jackson, or Gurley. The first 3 are in the HOF, Jackson probably ought to be, and Gurley would have been there, too, if not for the brevity of his career. Those guys were tier one guys. Williams is Tier II. That’s pretty good, and I’m not going to complain until he drops a tier.
They’re talking extension. I wouldn’t give him more than 3 meaningful years, but he’s worth that, I think.

ParticipantI love Williams in the redzone. I would love if the Rams found another RB who they could rely on between the 20’s to shoulder more of the running game and then let Kyren find the endzone inside the 20. I guess it wouldn’t be fun to be that RB who does the work getting the team into scoring position and then never seeing the endzone though. I also know being a successful RB often involves being involved in a game and finding a rhythm within a balanced game, so I have no illusions about that happening though. Kyren’s fumbling really bothers me though. I was pretty young when Wendell Tyler played, but sometimes I have Wendell Tyler flashbacks with Kyren. Probably not fair because I’m pretty sure that Wendell fumbled at a much higher rate than Kyren.

If KW had another gear he’d be Gurley-level elite. As it is, he’s just a really good RB. I can live with that.

just trying to point out is that while Kyren is not Gibbs or Barkley. He’s more of a chain mover and one of the best of them. The Rams need more explosive players yes. At RB and WR. To help this offense create and not be ball control. All of that is true.January 25, 2025 at 1:42 pm #154954zn
ModeratorKyren Williams Draft and Combine Prospect Profile
from https://www.nfl.com/prospects/kyren-williams/32005749-4c41-5359-809b-caeaa1db84d0
Overview
Fiery team leader and combative runner who leaves it all out on the field. Williams has been a worker bee with a willingness to do the heavy lifting on all three downs and has premium third-down talent both in blitz pickup and as a route-runner out of the backfield. The Patriots’ usage of James White, Dion Lewis and Brandon Bolden might be the blueprint for how to utilize Williams in the NFL.
Strengths
Team captain.
Ready and willing to carry any workload asked.
Loose with wide, lateral slides to elude penetration.
Finds ways to wiggle out of trouble in tight quarters.
Runs with consistent pace.
Talented, well-rounded third-down option.
Experienced lining up and running routes from the slot.
Shifty to separate on option routes.
Rare understanding of protection schemes.
Scans for trouble and steps into the ring with grit and technique.Weaknesses
More quick than explosive.
Below-average burst as an outside runner.
More active than creative up to second level.
Unable to find sudden acceleration from his cuts.
Plenty tough but bounced around like a smaller back.
Lacks power to break tackles and move chains consistently.
Too many fumbles.
Average elusiveness in space after the catch.January 25, 2025 at 6:09 pm #154959wv
ParticipantI dunno. You start playing those good defenses during a playoff run, and you simply cannot fumble the ball. I dont trust KW. I think over a long season he can help you get to the playoffs, but once yer there, I think he can help you lose in the playoffs.
I mean, its not black and white, but fumbling, to me, is a HUGE problem. That fumble in the Eagle game should not have happened.
