The Rams’ two fourth-round rookies, Robert Rochell and Bobby Brown III, will both undergo surgery for injuries suffered Saturday.

shoot. i guess it could have been worse. but still.

looks like at least brown should be back next week.

DeSean Jackson discusses how he feels physically as a 14 year veteran:

“Body’s feeling great. Coach McVay and [wide receiver] Coach Eric Yarber, Reggie and the training staff, they’re doing a good job of keeping me fresh, but at the same time letting me get my work in… I was just telling somebody else I could probably play another five years in this offense…I think they have a science to it, just knowing how to get work in and how to take care of your veteran players. Not working too hard and not overworking them.”

Rams DL Aaron Donald on QB Matthew Stafford: “He’s playing lights-out, man. … Just watching him, the way he works, the balls he’s throwing, getting to these wide receivers, I ain’t never seen it done like that. So to be able to see it first-hand, it’s pretty cool.”

Love how people confidently declare certain players on the OL the best at their position like they have ever studied or watched them and their peers closely.

Just say “This is what PFF says”

And lastly, while I focus almost exclusively on OL/DL, I know that I can and have been wrong about what I see. My point is more about the effort level that goes into coming to those conclusions & at least putting in the time to study before sharing an opinion.

I think he [Austin Corbett] is going to be very good. I thought he was the most underrated RG in football last year too

I ideally would like to see him get to settle in at RG and build on his 2020 season, but I think skill-set wise he can be a quality starter at center too.

Per Rams: They’ve waived G Jamil Demby and signed G Jeremiah Kolone.

    Andrew Whitworth on Matt Stafford:

“You really just see that veteran presence. You can’t replace playing that long in the game and everything is just so natural. He feels it, he understands the game, he’s really smart. He’s played enough to have seen it all.”

Really interested to see how the Rams onboard Tutu Atwell. Regardless, they really like Trishton Jackson, and it sounds like he’s going to have a role on this team in some form while Atwell develops (and gains a few lbs).

Reminder, he hung on the 53-man roster for all of 2020.

If you’re curious about who’s going to start opposite of Leonard Floyd, @JourdanRodrigue’s latest piece is highly recommended.

Sounds like Justin Hollins is becoming a guy they can lean on. Durability with Lewis and Obo is a factor, but he’s clearly setting the tone at camp.

Probably can’t report the design of what the Rams/Stafford just ran but just know it left Cooper Kupp with well over the CDC’s guidelines for distance around him in the middle.

During his discussion about the team’s new offensive line coach, Kevin Carberry, Sean McVay shared how inspirited he’s been with the progress of the offensive line thus far.

He did add that it’s still early and there’s “a long, long way to go,” but he likes what he’s seen from the group.

“It’s still a little bit early. I am encouraged with what I’ve seen from the first two days in pads. It was also great to get Kevin Carberry out here, get a new offensive line coach this year,” McVay said. “I think he’s going to do a great job, but he’s been forced to kind of just run meetings on Zoom. Today was the first practice that he was able to take part in, but I think guys are doing a great job communicating. I like what I’m seeing. There’s a long, long way to go. There are so many things that go on up front with all five getting on the same page with the communication – the targets and the run game. But, I think we’re taking steps in the right direction. I’ve been really encouraged by a handful of guys.”

If you foolishly thought you’d see Stafford in the preseason, think again.

McVay: “There is zero chance you will ever see Matthew Stafford take a snap in the preseason for the Rams as long as I’m the coach.”
