It’s a good draft to need lineman btw.Jonathan Jones@jjones9
Hearing former Rams S John Johnson’s free agent market is taking shape. Lions, Eagles, Jags and Browns all showing interestJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
The Rams are offering RFA cornerback Darious Williams a first-round tender. The long-expected move will be worth $4.76 million and helps solidify a top-ranked secondary as Williams starts opposite Jalen Ramsey. And, it’s his birthdayCameron DaSilva@camdasilva
So for Williams, teams can make offers to Williams. If he likes one, he can force the Rams to match it.If the Rams don’t match, they’ll get a 1st-round pick from the team. If they match, they keep him at the price that the team offered.
March 15, 2021 at 5:18 pm #128367wvParticipantI love D Williams. That guy has golden hands.

March 15, 2021 at 6:57 pm #128369znModeratorRams' decision to skip over 2nd-round tender and go all the way to 1st-round tender (at extra cost of $1.5M) for CB Darious Williams is viewed as a head scratcher, since other teams rarely if ever sign RFA with 2nd-round tenders. https://t.co/b2PCbksrSL

Here’s a question, if some team is willing to sign D-Will, would the Rams be willing to take a 1st round pick for him?

March 16, 2021 at 8:16 am #128387canadaramParticipantI am glad they’re keeping Williams and Floyd. Williams was great last year. Obviously keeping Johnson would have been nice, but I’d prefer keeping a good pass rusher over a good db. I am hopeful that the stable of young safeties will help to absorb the loss of Johnson. It seems as though the Rams have been planning for Johnson to be out of their price range for a couple of years. I’m still surprised that nobody has been a cap casualty yet. I keep expecting Brockers to be released, but it never happens.
BTW, I’m betting on Everett signing with the the Seahawks. Call your bookies now.

March 16, 2021 at 11:17 am #128389znModeratorDante Fowler's one full season with the Rams: 11.5 sacks, parlayed into a $45M contract
Leonard Floyd's one full season with Rams: 10.5 sacks, parlayed into a $64M contract
If I were a pass rusher willing to play on a one-year deal, I'd call LA. The Aaron Donald effect.

Interested to see what this TE movement means for Gerald Everett in the coming days. Rams have depth and were more than fine to part ways this spring/certainly expected him to draw a higher salary than they wanted to pay. But what if things cycle around at a much lower number? His post on IG clearly shows he thinks he’s going elsewhere, for months the Rams have believed he would be as well, but I do wonder with how quickly things move and change…
Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Also, if you’re wondering how Floyd’s deal impacts the salary cap, we don’t have that answer yet. Still waiting on details, guarantees, cap hits, etc.Williams adds $4.766 million, though, so that puts the Rams ~$37 million over
March 16, 2021 at 11:35 am #128395znModeratorRams are close with 6 making $15.75M+ per year
Stafford: $27M
Donald: $$22.5M
Ramsey: $20M
Woods: $16.25M
Floyd: $16M
Kupp: $15.75M https://t.co/LdVVIrcHBq— Cameron DaSilva (@camdasilva) March 16, 2021

There are two groups of OLB in this league. Weak and strong. The weak side guys tend to be the big money types, which is why some are underwhelmed by this signing. Floyd’s not a weak side high end rusher but he just got a great paycheck.
But I’m fine with that because Floyd really is an elite strong side edge. And the funny thing about guys like Floyd is that you typically can’t move the weak types to the strong side without them struggling vs the run. You also can’t move a 5T out there because of the contain and flat responsibilities. So it’s a bit of a specialized thing that he gives us. And the market is the market for what he brings.
Either way I’m stoked. Rams just kept a guy who was a huge part of our defense surprising so many folks last season. And we have some good years of development ahead for him. Remember this guy was a high end pick. He already developed a nice hop rush step with us that has made his rush more unpredictable and it’s very effective with his length. This guy can get better but he’s already gonna be earning that check by thrashing TEs and making us stout vs the run while also threatening the QBs on the rush.

#Falcons free agent center Alex Mack is expected to sign with the #49ers, source said, as the Cal product lands back in the Bay Area. Mack has been with coach Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland and Atlanta… and now SF.Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartz
What a day for the 49ers OL. Trent Williams resign and they land Alex Mack, who’s perfect for this offense.Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
The cap didn’t just go down by $16m, it’s really $30-$40 million when you factor in the growth that was anticipated for 2021 a couple years ago. What was supposed to be $210-$220 million is now $182.5mAxel Kopun@FV_Mylia_Lynn
For everyone clamoring for Golladay: If the Rams sign Golladay they’re trading Woods or Kupp. I’d rather keep the trio of Woods, Kupp & Jefferson & add some more talent at WR in this draft. LOTS of WR talent to be had in this draft.March 17, 2021 at 4:54 pm #128449znModeratorRamily!!!! @RamsNFL pic.twitter.com/KGNwWSV6Hd

Wanna hear something awesome? Here are the two leaders in completion percentage allowed among all college football defenders from 2017-2018 (min. 50 targets, @PFF):Darious Williams, UAB – 31.9%
David Long Jr., Michigan – 32.1%Now, ironically enough, teammates in Los Angeles.

The Rams are currently projected five (5) compensatory picks in the 2022 draft:3rd (Brad Holmes)
4th (John Johnson
6th (Samson Ebukam)
6th (Gerald Everett)
6th (Morgan Fox)They may still lose Austin Blythe, Troy Hill, and Josh Reynolds. Wow.

Everett going there is at least partly cause Seattle’s new OC is the former Rams coach, the young Mr. Shane Waldron.

Awe, shucks. Thanks, H.
I thought so too zn. It just seemed like the right move for Seattle. With Russell Wilson leading that offense, Everett should churn out some great numbers.
