Champion Rams vs the World – Battlelyon@BobbyBattlelyon
If the Rams #RunitBack, it will be the first time a team has done since the 03/04 Patriots did it. Patriots, Broncos, Cowboys, 49ers, Steelers, Dolphins, and Packers have won back to back with no team winning it three times in a row.

I will always remember 2022 as the year that I learned what “run it back” means.

Daniel Jeremiah opens his NFL draft call today in part by by touting the homegrown depth behind star players on Rams’ roster and citing depth of position in this year’s overall draft class among its defining qualities.

The Rams named Von Miller the Postseason Performer of the Year. In 4 games, Von had 4 sacks, 6 QB hits, 6 TFLs, 14 tackles 1 forced fumble & 1 fumble recovery. He was vintage playoff Von.

i know it’s going to be next to impossible, but this is why the rams have to do everything they can to bring this guy back. having this guy for a full season. along with a full season from jones. this front seven could be fun to watch.

i don’t know how they do it, but if there’s a way i’m sure they’ll figure it out.

    from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2022/02/27/rams-nfl-draft-depth-daniel-jeremiah-quote/?taid=621bace2ed681a0001a1525c&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter

Everyone talks about the star-studded roster that the Los Angeles Rams assembled en route to their Super Bowl title, but that team was much more than a collection of big names. In the Super Bowl alone, they got contributions out of Brycen Hopkins, Nick Scott, Darious Williams, A’Shawn Robinson, Greg Gaines and Ernest Jones.

Of course, Matthew Stafford, Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, Von Miller, Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. helped the Rams get to the big game, but throughout the season, their excellent depth was on full display.

Gaines, Scott, Hopkins, Kupp, David Edwards, Rob Havenstein, Tyler Higbee and Jordan Fuller were all drafted outside the first round, showing how much value there is in the mid-to-late rounds of the draft. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network mentioned exactly that during his pre-draft conference call, pointing out how the Rams are an example of the importance of depth in a draft class.

“So I think a lot of people have kind of looked at the top of this draft and have their thoughts about whether or not it stacks up with previous years, but I would just say kind of as I’m going through this process and watching all these guys and then paying attention through the postseason and seeing the Rams win the Super Bowl, I think the discussion about the Rams being a superstar team is obviously very valid, but I think if you look at that team and who some of their key players are and the home run picks they’ve had outside the first round to help really build the nucleus of that team, it shows you the importance of depth in a draft,” Jeremiah said. “I think this is a really good depth draft, especially when you get into the second, third, fourth round. There’s a lot of quality there, a lot of starters.”

Has this ever happened before in the NFL? A team winning 3 straight playoff games by 3 points each game.

No. I checked every year since the NFL went to 3 rounds of playoff games in 1967 after forming 4 divisions.

    The closest?

The 2007 Giants won the Divisional game by 4, the CCG by 3 and the SB by 3.

    2007 Giants:

*Wild Card 24-14 over Tampa Bay
*Divisional Game 21-17 over Dallas (went down by 3 with 6:53 left in third, took final lead with 13:29 in the 4th)
*CCG 23-20 in OT at Green Bay (the Coughlin red nose game; Green Bay tied the game with 11:46 in the 4th to send it to OT)
    * SB 17-14 over New England (went down by 4 with 2:42 left in the game; went up by 3 with 0:35 to play and won it)Almost as close as the 2021 Rams. Almost as dramatic.

Rams came from behind in the final 2 minutes in 3 consecutive postseason games to win by 3 each time, culminating in a SB Championship
    Rams own that record.

. Gettin ready to leave LA for a lil bit, get on this journey to recovery
.. I must say. I DID COME HERE AND ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION.

like Staley, McVay puts in the work/effort to find him, digs him out of the Bears mess, hands him a highly respected, top notch defense IN L.A. with an explosive O to help! Staley in turn not only leaves, but continues into 2nd year to pic off assistants.

I understand what you’re saying, but you also seem to be coming at this as though it’s some sort of a double-cross on the part of these guys. McVay knows exactly what this game is. McVay, himself, took four coaches from the 2016 Washington staff. It’s just the way it goes.
McVay also has the ability to promote people himself, instead of bringing in outsiders, if he’s concerned about that.
    Greg Beacham@gregbeacham
Matthew Stafford on Andrew Whitworth’s upcoming decision on retirement: “I’m gonna leave it up to him. I want him back, but he’s an old man.”

Yeah, I was wondering about the Littleton and Fowler thing.

I had a feeling there was a ‘Donald Effect’ on all the other rams defensive starters.

I would think Donald improves the play of every single player on defense (offense?) including Ramsay.

I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking about how good Robinson was this year. And Miller. And Floyd. And Joseph-Day. And I was thinking about how having Miller and Floyd probably makes Robinson better. And how having Robinson makes Miller and Floyd better. There is probably a Sum And Its Parts thing going on here.

But I’ll bet only Donald would have the same stats on some other team.

There is evidence that Robinson upped his game on his own. We have a vid somewhere or the Rams DL coach (Henderson) talking about how he had challenged Robinson to lose weight in the off-season. He did, and was stronger and quicker as a result. I am not dismissing the idea that Miller helped, but it may be that more than one thing came through this year at the same time–adding Miller, Robinson upping his game.

what’s crazy is a’shawn is only 26. will be entering his contract year at only 27. he’ll be super motivated to play well.

gaines will only be 26 going into next season. and then there’s brown who has tons of potential.

bring miller back and it could be a delight.
