Rams GM Les Snead confirmed OBJ can “run the entire route tree” for LA. That indicates the Rams think he can play more snaps than DeSean did, and in different roles.

Considering Woods & Kupp have both played more than 91% of the Rams’ snaps, that’s big for rest down the stretch.

Les Snead also said: “I don’t think we’re going to try to teach Odell the entire playbook.” The Rams will “sprinkle him in on a game-plan basis” to maximize all 4 wideouts’ effectiveness.

This Just In: #Packers front office is the main reason why they failed to land Odell Beckham, Jr., per sources. I’m told HC Matt LaFleur wanted OBJ, believing his acquisition would be both seamless/positive for GB offense. FO lowballed Beckham, while the #Rams believed in him.

So… the Rams offered a $500K signing bonus, and the Packers didn’t?

Touched on this in the podcast but – while phasing into offense will take time – this isn’t a “situational snaps” move for Rams. Of OBJ’s fit, skill set, Snead said, “Anyone who can run the entire route tree has thrived in what Sean’s evolved to, and he’s one of those players.”

I think one tendency I had seen people fall into yesterday is conflating Jackson’s previous role with what they will want OBJ to do. Downfield stuff is important, sure, but even Woods yesterday was talking openly about working him into screens and motions and slot game.

Even if OBJ isn’t implemented into the offense as early as Monday, could we see him returning punts?

    Gary Klein@LATimesklein
Doubt it. He hasn’t returned a kick since 2019.

He was electric with it though, and we have a need

    Gary Klein@LATimesklein
Yes, but that doesn’t mean they will put him in harm’s way. The best KO returner on the team ins probably Robert Woods. But McVay won’t put him back there for that same reason.

What did you think of Plaschke’s assertion that bringing OBJ is asking for trouble?

    Gary Klein@LATimesklein
Well, it’s a reasonable point given some of the history. My sense is that the player will do his best to fit in — and attempt to parlay performance and attitude into another contract.

I don’t think these guys are right. I don’t think OBJ needs 8 catches for 112 yds and a TD or two in order to land a big package after the season. I think if he comes in and makes some key plays at the right time, that’s enough.

best case scenario you have three starting caliber receivers lining up capable of playing multiple positions and threatening every part of the field. and then you add van jefferson in 4 wr sets.

one thing i didn’t realize and maybe i missed it here on this thread. but obj had the most targets of any receiver on the browns. which i think is both bad and good.

van jefferson on the season is getting 5.1 targets a game. obj is getting 5.7 targets a game. vj is catching 58.7% of those targets while obj is catching 50% of those targets. obj has to get that catch percentage up.

also. at 29 obj is not old for a receiver. many a receiver still had peak years at age 29. only difference is obj is coming off an acl injury.

OBJ’s press conference was very refreshing. I know it’s going to take time to get him fully involved, but that press conference eased my mind…he wants to be here and wants to do everything he can to help this yeam win. Not one bit of selfishness in his words or demeanor
